I think for IWC's most dealers carry the same one (from same factory) but some of them have updated pics and some don't. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I quite disagree about not buying the gen. I mean having a gen really provides the utility. Knowing that your watch has that much value really has a completely different feel to it. And the perfection of the make, from each detail, knowing that it is how it should be, instead of having minute details that you know is not the gen. And ofc, the confidence factor is the biggest argument. Well thats the way I see it. I enjoy my reps, but i appreciate my gens more Just a different emotional feel to reps and gens Also, try Andrew @ trustytime Toro or puretime They are all very good people.

But add upon your intense discussion, the difference in height/ obvious difference in movement really puts me off. It is really bothering me because of the distance between the middle of the hour and minute and the base of the dial. If only they can fix that problem!! I really want an AP rep but that's really stopping me from purchasing one. Why dont they just start with a 2892 to begin with and a DD module but rep dial, tachy. That way it can still be affordable, and they can get the thickness right.

So I went to the "Market" in Indonesia today, as I wanted to look around at the quality of the reps they have their in comparison to the ones here and of course prices too. First off, to my amazement, I actually found "super-reps" or Reps that we, members of the forums would argue is the latest. I was taking a look at their AP's, and I would argue that they are the Noob Factory's. I asked for the AP Safari, and true enough it looks exactly like the ones Puretime or any other TD is selling here. It had the updated Silver lining around the Numeric, the rounded pushers, etc. So I went to ask for the PAM's just to make sure, and they gave me a PAM177, which felt extremely light relative to the stainless steel editions. The case back is extremely similar or should i say the same to the ones sold by the Noob factory. The Crown guard felt smooth and it was of great quality. I was shocked, and decided to ask for the PAM243. It was Indeed true! The markets do have what the TD's are offering!!! But there is a little price differential I have to admit. The prices in the market are about 10% higher than those in the TD, but ofc for me, its instant and free shipping , and I get to tinker and inspect for my own watch. Is it worth it? I don't know, but I am still looking to order my 243's from Toro as we speak. hahaha.. Found myself a nice bag too, I'd post pics soon. I'd have to disagree with you regarding it being hard to distinguish. I think once you know what to look for they become easier esp to the trained eye. Depends on who is looking at it But I'd have to agree, sounds like the best rep to date. With a very good CG, sounds like the watch to get. I'm hoping the 386M 1.1 would get improved and become a super-rep too. It has potential but not there yet

I think the Black Theme is very nice Plus, the price difference isn't significant anyways, you could have gotten it if you really did want it. Its just a matter of preference. LOL. Ignorance from a "wise" 49 years old. TBH many of my friends have a gen AP, and one of my close buddies got his first watch on his 21st Birthday. (Also an AP Black Theme, seems to be the first or coolest AP to get) It is true that it does cost a lot of money to purchase, but that does not mean people like you couldn't afford one. It sounds as though you are an associate I-banker, if I may guess, and sure enough someone in your caliber would easily be able to afford one. Furthermore, the prices of cars in Singapore are extremely high relative to the States. It would make more sense to "invest" on an AP than to save up for a car and mod it as a hobby. You probed his ego, probably going to trade in it and get a Richard Mille. LOL
