  1. Lucky sod, I have been in touch with him only via email, well Caroline, his wife actually. Enjoyed watching him interview Daniels.
  2. Some TD's still have them, I recently read a thread where someone received their yellow ok.
  3. I have noted customs are getting really strict this last month all over the world. Wondering what is going on.
  4. I would hazard a guess he used a press
  5. Ordered some parts yesterday, and a few more today. Hopefully he can send them all out in one package
  6. Its as if the rep factory are getting bored, and trying new things lol. They should be focusing on getting their reps more accurate. Oh wait. If they do the latter, nobody would buy V2, v3, v4 through to v243
  7. Just to touch on my previous reply, this is the kind of press I was referring to.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Watchmakers-Tool-Watch-Case-Opener-Tool-Heavy-Cast-Iron-3kg-/370925627869?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item565ce3e9dd
  8. Agree, its just the lighting/refraction of light on the symbol surface.
  9. If you have a press, maybe try it in there, with the case back die, a good firm downward pressure, and then try?
  10. Welcome to RWG I'm sure someone will be along soon to help, in the meantime, why not introduce yourself in the new members section?
  11. Welcome to the forums 2 years you have been here, and this is your first post? Have you not learned anything? Only pulling your chain. It looks like a hand wind Asian 6497, but best waiting for someone who actually knows for certain as I am not 100% my friend.
  12. Ask for a photo of the watch in daylight lighting, not a rendition/touched up photo.
  13. Its not just the watch aesthetically my friend, which is quite nice, and appealing to many of us, but its the age old A7750 movement, and that sec@6 complication which is off-putting. Its not had extra jewels added, and the 29J is a lie/faux, what has been done to improve its reliability is those extra gears have been skeletonised to reduce friction in those extra gears.
  14. Sounds like your stem snapped, and part is still in the crown? A photo would help.
  15. Its a name for George Daniels escapement creation.
  16. Depending on the construction of the stem/crown, if its anything like the one I have been working on, a PAM 332L, its not like normal crowns. There is a threaded collar bonded to two very small nuts on the stem, and then this is screwed into the crown, limiting micro adjustment. There is a spring inside too to aid it undoing, but seeing as you need to screw the stem in further, you may be out of adjustment. Let us know how you get on.
  17. Nice piece, and great overview. Thanks for sharing I feel I need a SD in my collection now.
  18. Loving these vintage pieces more and more. Great looker you bagged yourself there Mike mate.
  19. Superb choice my friend, you chose a great model. I love my Carrera. You touch on rep makers getting better each time they rep something, now whilst this is true, in part, they are, but with this particular model, they all have minute discrepancies with the chapter ring markings, which to put simply, they are not uniform all the way around, resulting in some misaligned areas.
  20. Anyone can go franken, be it do the work themselves if experienced, or get someone else with experience to do the work. I have done mine myself, a Tag Carrera CV2A10.
