  1. Might be my eyes playing tricks on me but that GMT hand looks like it's sitting at the bottom of the stack...just saying I'm happy to be told otherwise.
  2. The ETA 2824 is/was available from 18,000-36,000 there are 4 different models, standard, eleborated, top & chronometer. The latter 2 have different escapements, shock protection and barrel springs. This in itself would throw up all sorts of mix & match issues. I don't think most people understand the complexities & tolerances that are present within watch movements and this is where bodging hacks like this are always going to throw up issues of reliability of accuracy.
  3. Reject it, save up and get the version that the OP has shown. That watch you have linked to looks cheap & nasty. For a start, date window has no surround, subdials are rounded not sharp like the OP's & gen. Amongst many other things. Don't waste your money.
  4. Consider this, for what you will pay for a decent dress watch rep like a Patek etc. You can pick up a nice vintage 9ct gold watch on eBay. Sure it won't have that high end name but it will have real value, be reliable and hold it's value. Just an option, good luck.
  5. I'm going for the broken centre seconds pivot. The pivot is tiny and when it breaks off you 'think' the post that is remaining is the pivot. Look through a magnifier and follow the post down. Can you see a very tiny change (step) in thickness? if not then the pivot has gone.
  6. No they are just a friction fit on to a circular pivot. But don't under estimate the care that is needed to remove and re-fit them in to the correct position. They are fragile little fellows Don't dare think about 'nudging' them round to the correct position, they have to come off, re-positioned & pressed on. Not trying to imply you would! If you was on this side of the pond I would willingly do it for you FOC. Get it done properly, it's a lovely watch.
  7. Put the crown into hand setting mode and get the hour and minute hand set at 12. Note the position of the 24hr hand and advance the time 12 hrs. Is the 24hr now at the 6 o'clock position but slightly less out of sync as it was before you started advancing the time? If it is, advance it another 12 hrs and you should be back to where you started with the 24hr hand in exactly the same position as when you started. If it is, then all that needs doing is the hands removing and resetting to the correct position. A 30 minute job for a watch smith. If the 24hr hand is at a different position to when you started you have a more complicated issue. Good luck.
  8. It's funny but the only time anyone ever noticed what watch I was wearing was in a dingy amusement arcade at the seaside here in the UK. I was waiting for my daughter to finish feeding coppers into a machine and I had my hand up on the machine just resting it there. A total stranger walked over with a complete at utter look of disbelief on he's face, mouth open muttering... "That's a Paul Newman, that's a Paul Newman"! I looked at him, put my finger to my lips and whispered "Shhhhhh" and winked at him. He smiled at me, slowly nodded his head and off he went. Absolute truth.
  9. The 2 issues should be relatively easy to fix without sending it back. The hands would be a 30 minute job for a watch smith. I presume this is a A7750 movement. Put a WTB add for a 7750 rotor and that swap is minute job once the backs off. Good luck, I think this watch is lovely. Just too big for my ikkle wrist otherwise I would get one.
  10. My 1675, 5.3mm crown (raffletimes) in a Cartel 1655 case. The folded lnk bracelet is also incorrect for this, but it will do until I find a decent rivet bracelet.
  11. My old Ericsson 1018s from 1999 http://www.mobilephonehistory.co.uk/ericsson/ericsson_a1018.php Just needs a proper size SIM card and away I go
  12. Sorry guys, I see I started this thread just after the other Friday wristie thread was started. I am happy to merge the threads (Mod!) or use the other one
  13. My story is exactly the same, bought a couple of modern off the shelf watches when I first touched down. Now I very rarely visit the TD sites I just research vintage Rolex and think "what next" V72 daytona because I'm not so happy with my 7753 one! I'll get over it...one day.
  14. 1930's JW Benson in 9ct Sent from my iBend 6
  15. Domi is in Germany, he done my 1675 dial. 3 month wait though...worth it of course!
  16. Speak to JoeyB. Also look at the cartel 1655 case set, I believe if you remove the CG's you have good starting point that accepts gen spec bezel assemblies. Good luck Sent from my toilet using Andrex.
  17. Did you know the 2824 has a hidden alarm function accessible through the bezel...oh yeah Sent from my toilet using Andrex.
  18. Hope you find your 'perfect' watch
