Just don't PULL-THE-STRING

I think a nice starting watch in this price range would be a Seiko Monster. Nicely built, it's an Automatic and you can swim with it. You can get it on Rubber strap or Stainless. Orange or Black face too. Also some of the Luminox's are nice too. I have the 3081.BO Chronograph and Love it! Black and Stealthy. Dave...

Well I'm not sure why the rep dealers (whoever made mine, I bought my V2 from and m2m sale) why they would use an ETA2836-2 when there is no day display, just your standard date window. Here is the movement inside, I've already verified it: Anyhow, I already have a new sw200 from a Seiko Monster that I'm not using so that's what I'm going to try to use as the transplant / donor watch. Thanks, Dave... BTW, you can see the 3 outside screws / tabs holding everything into the case. The 2 screws just on either side of the weight are the two that Barely hold the movement into the custom ring. The movement ring is about a good 1/8" thick maybe slightly more. You can see the notch for the stem on the right. So because the ring is so thick, the dial feet do not go far enough down for the factory ETA feet-levers to be used!

MTBKR65, can you PM me you watch guy's info please. My Ploprof V2 is giving me problems and I need to looked at too. Here's mine: And after a Lume job on the bezel insert :-) Thanks, Dave...

Not that I know of either. But Boy, do I miss my Gen :-(

Nice, do you know if the movements are the height as well? Reason I'm asking is, I have a Ploprof V2 that the 2836-2 movement has gone bad (Don't ask me how :-() and I know it has a unique movement holding ring in it. The DWO sits on top of the existing day/date wheels and the dial is only held in-place (aligned) by two dial feet But although the feet do drop down onto the holder but they are Not locked-in by any levers either like I've seen on other watches. So once you put the hands on, if you were to lift the dial, it could possible pop-off the hands. Once you set the movement in the case, the dial is held-on by the pressure of it against the front of the case and the two movement holding tabs on the back side. So I believe the rep manufacturers just made a custom movement holder to be able to use an standard Eta 2836-2 in the Ploprof. I will be attempting to transplant the movement in-between the holidays. I will be sure to take picture along the way and post later. Thanks, Dave...

Anyone know if a SW200 is a direct swap for an Eta 2836? I'd like to know, including the hands as well. I have some 'stuff' laying around and I plan on doing some work over the holiday vacation time. Thanks, Dave...

Yeah, I'd say they are Gen's too. Never seen or heard of a rep Breitling Aerospace. I had one once and miss it. I should have Never sold that one! Dave...

Oops moments, mistakes in watch modding/building

+1 on Both tips! I've just started trying to work on my own watches. I'm finding that things like to Fly off the tweezers. It's amazing how far these thing go too. I'm thinking a Black sheet under my work area might be a great idea. It should make finding the parts very easy. I'll have to try it on my next adventure into one of my watches. I'm planing on a full day or two between the holidays to get some work done. Thanks, Dave... -

OK, OK MOB! I get it! PM sent for my upgrade instructions! Glad to join the group! Dave...

For me, it would probably be my Ploprof (if I ever get it back) because it's a nice design that you don't run into others wearing it very much. Dave...

Sad story about one of our long term seniors...mikellem

Forum Members, let me tell you all something. I just received my new Gator Bone Pen from Mike. I (use to) use a Mont Blanc Le Grand 161 75th Anniversary Pen everyday since 1999 when I bought it. I'm now the Proud owner of a Michael Mulne Gator Bone Master-Piece Rollerball. I know I'll probably never use another pen again. This thing is such a work of art, you will not believe now well made this thing is and how Great it feels in your hand. The Schmidt ceramic insert write extremely smooth and the pen feels so nice and balanced in your hand when using it, you Must own one of these. Mike, I can't thank you enough for making such a wonderful writing instrument. You are a true Master of your craft! BTW, my crappy cell phones pictures don't do this pen justice. Thanks, Dave... -

Where do you buy your GEN watches from?
Aero_Dave replied to ceocorona's topic in General Discussion
+1, Great advice. Personally this guy only has 17 post. No feedbacks on watch sales. For the asking price, I wouldn't do the deal. I'd need someone with a lot more feedbacks to prove to 'me' that I'd trust him. That's just my .02 cents. I've had great luck here: http://www.bernardwatch.com/ Good luck, Dave... -
OK fellows, Now were talking. I love No. 2's as well. Some of the best cigars. I use to be deeply into Cigars (note my Interest listing). I was putting away 2 boxes a-month! It was a Costly Hobby (Habit) ;-) I still enjoy a good cigar now-and-then, but not like I use to. I still have a 7-drawer humidor in my office. Me and a couple of co-workers have separate drawers of our own. It still has some Yummy stuff inside, aging very nicely too. A few other favorites of mine are: Frank Llaneza El Rey Del Mundo - Robusto Zavala AVO XO Partagas 150 Series B - Yes I've smoked about 1/2 dozen of these babies. ( I still know where I can get a few ) Pardon 1964 Anniversary Series Arturo Fuente Hemingway Hoyo De Monterrey - Hanbana Double Corona OK, that's enough. I could go on-and-on and now my mouth is watering! Dave...

Sure, IF the gum is worth that much. I think you're missing my point. The bike was bought for $900, it was insured for $1300. The replacement quote for only the frame was $1500. So why shouldn't Fedex give us the $1300 that was paid for the insurance coverage? Let's put it another way. My 1969 Convertible 'let's say' I paid $10,000 for. Then I get an estimate for its value / replacement of $15,000. I pay for that much coverage and then when it gets totaled, the insurance company says its only going to give me back my $10,000 because that's all I paid for it. Really, this is the same thing. So all I'm saying is, don't pay for insurance on shipping, over what you've actually paid for the item. It's just not worth it and you won't get it back in a refund anyways! Dave...

Personally I use mine 24/7. Each movement has different settings for TPD & direction. To find most movement settings, check here: http://orbita.com/2010_web/NEW/WatchDatabase.htm Dave...

Just a note from my past experience. I sold a Fuel 80 Mountain bike on ebay. I had modified the bike to where is was basically better than a Fuel 100. $$$ Costly for those that don't know. I sold it for $900 for a quick sale. The bike was professionally boxed and insured for $1300. When it arrived, the buyer found the frame downtube was dented. Clearly there was a hole in the side of the box, explaining the damage. He took photo's, took the bike to his local bike dealer. It just so happened, the Trek area manager was in the store at the time. He explained what happened and the manager gave him a replacement quote just for the frame. That quote was for $1500. When we contacted Fedex and told them the story and sent pictures, I was only refunded the $900 the seller paid for the bike. Reguardless of the insurance covergage purchased ($1500) and reguardless for the replacement quote given ($1500) Fedex said they would only replace what the seller paid for the bike. I guess somewhere they have this written about insurance covereage and price paid for! Anyhow, just be carefull how much coverage you pay for, because if you have to prove how much it was sold for, you won't get anything over that reguardless of insurance paid for, And if the watch is a rep, forget about it! MD2020 Who is dealing with him, I'm worried now!

+1. I'm a customer of Mike's, but don't feel the need to keep adding to this thread. This thread should have been closed Week's ago, as asked for by other members already. I come in here everyday, and read all of the additional postings. And guess what, I haven't learned anything 'worth-wild' in weeks. My original deal to have some work done was with Mike and since that hasn't changed, I don't feel the need to add to this thread. I contact Mike when I want to know what's going on. This will be My last post in This thread! Dave... -
Congrats James! I have a few more months to go myself. Dave...

Yeah, I'm not really feeling that quartz Tag either. I also agree that a $60 price-point is a little too high, If you're going to do a higher-end watch raffle, lower price per-ticket but more chances may be a better route. Dave...

+1, Amen. I have kept a positive attitude during this time. Mike has been in touch with me and the status of my watches. Like you, I've based my decision on how to handle my dealings with Mike on past experiences with previous work done by him. All has been good & I'm confindent it will continue as well. I will continue to work with Mike in the future too. Dave...
