  1. Does no one really have a spare brushed CG for a 44MM Luminor that they can sell me? I would have no problems paying somewhere around $20 to $30 bucks US for it, as this seems to be the average cost of one on the Rep sites. It is too bad that our TDs don't carry spare parts, or I would just search for one through one of them. Thanks for looking everyone!
  2. That is a great looking combo! I had contemplated getting one of the gator straps on the last purchase lot, but had not seen any reviews yet so decided to hold off. If this is as high quality as it looks, methinks I will have to pick one up soon!
  3. Hey everyone, I have a quick request for anyone that has spare PAM parts. I was letting a friend of mine check out the new Noob 299 that I got from Toro a few weeks back, and he accidentally knocked it off of a table while trying to grab for something else. Before either of us could react, the watch fell and hit the floor crown guard down. The rest of the watch is fine, and the movement accuracy has not been affected in the least by the knock, but the CG is pretty beat up looking now. As such, it is bothering the OCD in me to where I cannot wear it out of the house. I unfortunately do not have any spare parts besides screws for the CG, and would love to get the correct looking one, preferable also Noob factory to get this piece back to pristine condition. If anyone has one I would love to buy it off of you. My friend already told me he would pay for the cost of the replacement, so at least he has that going for him, lol. Thanks guys!
  4. Thanks for the response. I was using a bracelet pin pusher (the removal tap thing I mentioned, forgot what they were actually called, lol) and still to no avail. I pushed both at the same time, held the release for a longer time while pushing, etc. It pushes freely otherwise, like there isn't anything wedged in that would catch the pin and prevent it from moving, so I am not sure what the deal is. For this reason, a screw bar would be much easier to deal with than this set-up.
  5. Well, the watch arrived Saturday afternoon, and I have been wearing it non-stop. I really do love this piece, regardless of whether the placement of the 'L Swiss Made L' is correct or not for the K model. I am actually thoroughly impressed with these new tapered bracelets, and am very surprised at just how close to Gen it is. The polish between the links is ridiculously well done, and the brush work is otherwise exactly as Gen. All in all, this was a great buy, and I recommend for anyone on the fence to go for it. I don't think anyone could ask for a better deal for the 299K... That said, I do have one slight concern. The pin system for the bracelet works exactly as it should on the 12 O'clock side, but the pin will not release as it should on the opposite. I press the release pin down, and it gives as it should, but no matter how hard I push with the tool, the retaining pin does not budge at all. I even actually broke the one end of the plastic tool that Toro sent with it, I was pushing so hard. Eventually I wrapped one end of my steel bracelet removal tap with cloth (so as not to scratch the polished surface of the pin) and still could not get the cross pin to budge. This is a little frustrating as I had hoped to swap the bracelet to a strap at some point, but don't know what to do to get this thing off. This is not an end of the world situation, as the rest of the watch, including the timing, has been impeccable. Just a little lost, is all...
  6. Alright, I'm beginning to see the light through the clouds now, gentlemen. After a 3 day layover at customs in Chicago, she looks to be on her way home... I'm guessing she should be on my porch by Monday. I am frothing at the mouth now, lol.
  7. That is some dedication there, Markiemark. This is going to be a truly astounding tool to use, even if just to take a gander at just how many models exist that match what each of us favor in our PAM configurations. Looking forward to it!
  8. So you're the bloke that got the jump on snatching that 29 from Mike! That was a great grab, I am a bit jealous, lol. Wear it, and the rest of your PAMs in good health.
  9. Oh man, the possibilities that come with multiple straps are endless! I already have one of my Assolutamentes ready for it when the time comes, and I also have one of the older style bracelets ready to be swapped should I be curious. This will be my first PAM with the new style pins so it should be interesting to see just how effortless it is to do a swap like this. This weekend I had better find some distractions or the anticipation for this piece will drive me crazy. I just may have to start working on a new strap for this baby, and give it some crazy colored stitches.
  10. @ sahboo: I believe that the new site page was listed in one of the more recent postings (in the last month or so) in the trusted dealer section, after the previous site was closed for illegal activities (still makes me laugh a bit). Anyways, the current site is as follows >> http://torobravos2013.com/ Toro has a bunch of watches on special there, and if I did not have limited funds right now I could have easily dropped around $1,000 on what I want. I will have to be satisfied with the 299 for now... I don't think that will be too hard for me
  11. Just put in an order for one of the PAM 299k's that Toro has on clearance, and I am so far very impressed with his fast response time and quality of the QC pics he sent me. The gain of 13 seconds is a little higher than I had hoped, but fully acceptable, and I hope it will settle a little bit during wear. I have accepted the watch, and am now preparing myself for the grueling wait for it to arrive. I am dreaming now to see this on my door step by the middle of next week, but we shall see. I have faith!
  12. I was lucky enough to view the original posting before the chain was all deleted from WUS, and though it was pretty hilarious watching him get his WIS wannabe ass torn apart on there, I have to say that the Archie vid was the topping on the cake that I had desired to see. That was friggin hilarious to me, and even more so that he didn't think it serious enough to wear his pants. That tells me right off the bat that he thinks that the collection is full of crap, even though he just drills this guy on paying full retail prices. I have to say this is quite the treat to start the work week!
  13. The drilled holes in those end links look much larger than the pins coming off of the spring bar, if I am seeing that correctly in the pictures (honestly a little too dark to be completely sure). If that is the case, this may just be that there is too much slack in the drilled lug compared to the spring bar, giving it room to move and therefore no longer maintain a tight fit at all times. I would check the size of the holes if I were you and compare it to the end pins. If there is as much of a gap around the pins as I think, simply getting fatter spring bars (not the spring bar itself, but the end pins, a la those found on typical Seiko watches), you may solve your issue easily and cheaply. If not, using a metal / ceramic epoxy may be your best bet, unless you want a semi permanent hold and can use a spot weld with some solder. Just my opinion.
  14. Congrats, Indy! Glad to see all watches made it to you safe and sound. Maybe the next time one of these raffles comes up I will actually be able to throw some cash at it!
  15. I typically size my bracelets to allow for my pinky to still slip under the clasp. This way it does not move around too much, but is loose enough to slide up my wrist when I have to type on my keyboard (which is quite often, since I work with computers for a living).
  16. I would say that one can justify as many as he/she can afford! This model looks great with that new movement plate on there, though anyone that knows what the P9000 looks like will not be fooled. Then again, those aren't the people we're trying to fool, unless we count ourselves! Am I right?
  17. Finally just watched this vid, kept meaning to come back to it... Nice vid, I'm a huge fan of tats on women, and when they are toned, or at least not sloppy, then even better. As for a generational thing on the music... not so much. This is right in line with what is typically popular with my age group, and I cannot stand this type of music. The vocalist's voice is far too nasal for me. Also, anyone notice how in the song they edited out the word Motherf*cker, but left the vid as it is, [censored] and all? Has to be a European vid for that reason alone, lol
  18. My bad, when I view the thread, there is not a picture showing at all in MD's post, so I just figured they were talking about buppen's watch. Oops! Lol
  19. I don't think that is a PAM 089, as that model has never had a central post second hand or had engraved 24 hour markings around the bezel. I too believe it to be a fantasy built model, and it is a pretty nifty looking one at that! I don't care what the others say, I would still wear it anyways. Looks pretty neat with the PVD / DLC whatever coating on it! As for the movement, likely an Asian copy of the Eta 2836, or even a modified Asian 2813 / 4813. Either way, as long as it has been serviced or is going to get serviced in the future, it should last you for many years, and perplex many more Paneristi along the way!
  20. That's a great looking AP Diver, I too am curious which dealer this is ordered from. Thanks for the post!
  21. Music has been a huge part of my upbringing from a very young age, be it starting with my days in the grade school church choir and listening to 80's R&B and Soul. My parents listened almost exclusively to oldies music, but my dad was also a fan of early prog like Pink Floyd, YES, and Rush. Used to really dig hanging out in the basement with my dad, black lights and incense rolling pretty heavily to any Floyd album of our choice... And then my cousin took me to my first heavy metal concert in the 6th grade, and my life was pretty much changed 180 degrees. I still listen to classic R&B and soul from time to time, but ever since that summer my heart has belonged to the heavy stuff... Ever since high school I have been pretty deep into the Scandinavian metal, listening to classics like At the Gates, Hellhammer, Dark Tranquility, etc. My interests are all over the extreme scenes, and I listen to Black metal, Death metal, and everything in between. However I still lean mostly towards the progressive bands in these areas, harkening back to the days spent listening to Floyd and Rush in the basement with dad... My favorite band of all time is Opeth, and I just love the way that they can hover between extreme death metal and manage to make their way to a 70's prog sound, then back to modern death again. Metal for life, eh?
  22. I am a huge fan of Christopher Ward. Used to own one of the Kingfishers, but sold it to pay of some bills a year or so ago. It was of quality build, especially for the money. My dream watch from CW is actually the C60 that Mike posted above, which is a great mash-up of the Bremont Supermarine (of fellow British design) and a Rollie GMT Master. Hopefully they have improved their bracelet design, as that is what has mostly kept me from purchasing it the last few years. Looks like they are now going with an oyster styled design, so hopefully the clasp has changed as well (had been a simple single push button release clasp before). I think it needs a diver's lock to be taken seriously as a dive watch, IMO
  23. As of right now I cannot get the newest album from The Faceless out of my listening cycle. Such great technicality in the writing, and more melodic vocals than the last 2 albums. Also been listening through the entire Opeth catalog (who am I kidding, I never go a day without at least one song) in preparation of seeing them for the 3rd time through my hometown...
  24. If you love Android (since it was what you had) and really need a phone now, I highly recommend the HTC One X +... It was just released this last November and runs the latest version of Android (Jelly Bean), has a quad-core processor running at 1.7Ghz made by Nvidia, has either 32 or 64 GB of internal memory, 4.7 inch LCD screen with HD 720 resolution, and pretty decent battery life for the specs. I believe that it should be available in Europe, and that it should be found for quite a nice low price due to the release of the new HTC ONE, which has less internal memory and a lower resolution camera (4mp vs the 8mp on the X+) > though the ONE has the new larger light gathering cells for low light pictures in that 4mp resolution, more like a DSLR size. I love mine, and really don't think that the ONE is worth the extra cash, unless you absolutely have to have a unibody aluminum case. Aside from that, if you can wait, I might wait for the Samsung S4 if I were you. Though I heard that it is going to go for a pretty penny / euro, even with subsidized contract renewal. Just my 2 cents...
  25. I think that StormTrooper knows that this is not an actual P3000 inside, he was just wondering if anyone else was aware of another rep having been made in the 44mm size that also uses this faux P3000 series of plates over the 6497 main plate? I have to say that it really does look nicer than the usual mvnt's found in the reps, and that I too am curious about this, as the 47's are just a bit too large across for my liking. Anyone that has seen these in the 44's want to pipe in?
