  1. His prices may be high, but his work is outstanding. I have 3 watches based off of his kits and all are superb.
  2. Bravo sir. You put a lot of work into this one and have a piece to be proud of for sure.
  3. The more I look at it...the more I think it's Gen too. I did a search on eBay for a 1579/951 bracelet and the markings on it are identical to what I have. However....I can't ever know for sure. I don't want to put it on eBay for $500 and find that it's a Rep. I also don't want to sell it for $80 and find out it was Gen.
  4. You can always mod a case, but finding that movement, a set of gen hands, and the right dial could set you back several thousand...at which point you need to think about if it's worth it for a rep. That's why a lot of us build frankens of the older "vintage" watches. Parts are plentiful, and you can build a 99% gen for 1/4-1/3 what you'd spend on a gen.
  5. I believe the general consensus is to avoid the "correct stack" movements.
  6. I'm hoping you guys can help me out on this. I was digging through all my watch bracelets/straps when I came across this. It's an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean bracelet. When I put it next to my Gen Seamaster bracelet, it appears identical. Markings are similar. Look/feel of the steel is identical. It fits perfectly on my Gen Seamaster...but I'm not sure if it's Gen or Rep? Can you guys help?
  7. That IS the latest version, but the hand-stack is different from Gen. IIRC, the GMT hand is either in-between the min and hr hands, or it's on top of the stack. I DO remember that it's not on the bottom like that rep. AND...the rep movements that have the hand stack correct are crap.
  8. Stock TC v.5 with a Gen LV insert. (Gen dog in the background.)
  9. Mine was like that after I put my bezel on. Turned out the click spring was kinked. Easy fix. Update: Try twisting it in the direction it naturally turns as you click it into place. Kinda like you're opening a bottle in reverse. That may help to seat it properly.
  10. Did you age the dial at all, or buy it like that?
  11. Yuki's 7206 is good, but IIRC, it has the captive end-links. I punched them out and used gen 580s on my 1655. For $55, it's a great bet.
  12. The best bet for the daytona is older Zenith reps. There wasn't an engraving and the reps are more mature. At the end of the day, nobody does a real great job on the engraving. It's just one of the tells you need to deal with. It's a relatively small one compared to the others.
  13. I still have the one I pre-ordered like a year ago that we were all [censored] and waiting for. It's a great rep. Just checked in on this thread to see what has changed, and it doesn't look too much different from what I have. I'd like to know if there are any differences to speak of.
  14. I didn't end up selling it...or the Panda I have. I'm wearing this one a lot more than I thought I would, and the Panda has a small scratch in the crystal so I need to get that replaced before I sell it. On the dials: I thought they were supposed to be grey too, but these are clearly white. I'm also 100% sure that it's an authentic dial, so I may have something special/rare here. No clue.
  15. So evidently, these aren't water proof. I broke it down when I got home. Turns out that the bezel is cracked at the nuts. So I need to locate a new ceramic bezel. I'll grease the gaskets too. Should do the trick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  16. It was an orchestration for sure. After he had it, I think it was about 8 weeks...but it took about 8 to get it to him. Not being able to ship directly to Germany was a big issue.
  17. I'm getting ready to list this watch for sale. I just don't see myself wearing it as much as I thought I would. Shame that I waited so long for it...but that's the name of the game, right?
  18. I need to order the noob Xtal for mine. It's a great rep, but that's driving me nuts. I'd like to find a better caseback too.
  19. Finally got the watch today. I'm pleased and disappointed at the same time. Looks great on my wrist. The AR SUCKS so I'll need to figure something else out there. The lume is also pretty poor. I'm going to wear it for a few days and see what to make of it.
  20. Both of mine arrived. They're perfect! One question: Who's able to lume these for us? I've got a 1680 and 1016 that I'd like to have a vintage lume applied to. Outstanding work Whoopster!
  21. Just got mine too. I'm asking for additional pics. I don't want issues, and we've all waited long enough!
  22. FINALLY got my QC pics today. Looks good, except I'd like to see a pic of the crown. I've seen a few people complain that the crown logo is off-center. I've waited this long...may as well make sure it's right!
  23. ::: golf claps ::: Well done sir. Well done.
  24. I replied to your PM. FRs aren't exactly cheap to build...and take a LOT of time. They're quite a bit more than your average rep. Just be prepared. ;-)
