  1. Any time, it's a great watch I'm not normally a fan of gold watches, but that one's looking nice I think I prefer the $108 rep price tags though
  2. It looks awesome I got my mother in law one of the tonneau-shaped Crazy Hours in pink, and she's had several people comment on it when she's gone out, but that Long Island version really is nice. I was just flicking through WatchEden's site, and although they have several Crazy Hours (including some Long Island ones) they don't seem to have that white on white version you have, so it might be a color-scheme the factories no longer produce...
  3. That's an awesome reproduction of the H1 I wonder how many of the "I wouldn't buy a replica watch... " snoots would quite happily slap down the plastic to get that badboy as an office ornament Sums up reps perfectly: It's not about 'the name on the dial', but a recreation of what that piece represents
  4. That's not a watch which is seen every day, very nice
  5. It's an awesome result, it looks great with the watch Arctic commando issue
  6. No worries, most stuff will be water resistant from the factory, just make sure the crown and caseback are properly closed before getting them wet If you have the knowhow to strip the watch, running it under a faucet is as good a test as any, as it's been said before that reps (and other watches) are more likely to leak under simple immersion, than say if diving, as the pressure on the watch would seal any small breaches, which would not happen under a faucet... If it survives the dunk test, it should stand up to most immersions If you wouldn't be comfortable stripping the watch in the event of a leak, best take it to a professional for a pressure test One member posted photos a while back of a gen Seiko which had fogged up following a leak, so just because something's a rep, (especially the quality available on line) there's no reason to automatically assume it will leak
  7. Some folks just remove the stickers... It's not a sign of accuracy one way or another... Maybe for market stall junk...
  8. No change here, have a great day, muchachos
  9. Glad to be of help I have the reverse problem with my hands, as during the summer months, the skin tends to peel back from my fingertips... Never been able to figure out precisely why, and it never does it at other times if the year
  10. I don't think I've seen a white NATO before, but that looks fantastic
  11. That's a very interesting perspective, but probably quite accurate...
  12. I can't make any promises, but I'll try and make it if I can
  13. I really can't complain about the results If you have eczema, it might be worth trying a 'patch test' before wearing a freshly oiled bracelet, but, as mentioned, the petroleum should evaporate before causing any problems I think people have said that mineral oils were good ones to try, where other kinds of oil (like olive oil) would go rancid... I've heard good things about the dry chain lube, so indeed, one day it'll be good to try it I've not yet used cape cod cloth, but remember once that someone did have a reaction to it, but if you're okay with cape cod, sewing machine oil shouldn't be a problem
  14. Ahh, sounds good, and definitely value for money I forget who first suggested sewing machine oil, but I certainly can't complain about the results Any petroleum in the oil evaporates before it can absorb into the skin, and in the year since I oiled the first bracelet, I've never had any problem with allergic reaction to the oil, or needed to re-oil the bracelet to maintain the feel, which, considering how cheap the oil is, I think is a great result One of these days, I'll get round to trying the dry chain lube people have mentioned
  15. For me, it would be: 1) Chrono - Panda dial pre-Daytona or Ebel Discovery 1911 2) Dressy Hand Wind - Not a handwinder, but I'd choose a DateJust 'stick dial' on a leather strap or Glashutte Original Classic with silver dial on a leather strap 3) Sporty automatic - YachtMaster or UN Maxi Marine Diver 1846 with Rhodium dial 4) Quartz for outdoor activity - Suunto Vector 5) MISC FAVE - ANY CATEGORY - 6200 Submariner
  16. Thanks, bro You're absolutely right about oiling bracelets. I use sewing machine oil on mine, and the results have always been really satisfactory Is that the same as the UN RobbieG first posted about?
  17. Sorry I missed this at the time... The ones I've taken abroad, have all been watches I have liked and I would not have wanted to lose them, but, I did say to Emily when we went to Tokyo that if customs took an interest in the watch, just let them take it without argument. I wouldn't want to lose a watch at customs, but I wouldn't argue over keeping one.
  18. +3 here I would have to say that some watches definitely feel better out of the box than others. I am a big believer that the 'feels better because it's genuine', is in many cases, more a personal perception of the genuine watch, due to the circumstances of its acquisition, rather than any inherently superior quality (all the time watches like Omega, Rolex are under discussion... Of course, watches like PP, Vach etc are ludicrously well made, and that translates into how the watch feels) The first time I tried on a gen Submariner, I was wearing a quartz Casio diver's watch. The Sub felt lighter than that, and I was immediately unimpressed by the lack of weight, and generally flimsy feel of the watch. Since then, I've tried on several gen Rolexes and been equally unimpressed by how they felt, in comparison to the reps I was wearing, in so much as they felt no better than the reps. As long as the rep has been well made, and is properly adjusted, there's no reason why it can't feel every bit as nice on your wrist as it's original counterpart
  19. Words just can't begin to describe the awesomeness
  20. I like it, it's a great reworking of the original watch with a modern slant
  21. That's a really nice gesture, I'm sure he'll appreciate it
  22. That's an awesome watch, bro, and a fantastic gift, I'm sure the recipient will love it
  23. Good to have you back, bro
