Looks like another new Rolex for Captain Jack Harkness... I couldn't get any clear screenshots, and haven't seen a close enough shot to 100% identify the model, but this certainly looks to be a white dialed Daytona, and I suspect something else from Barrowman's personal collection rather than the BBC wardrobe department
I suspect, it is this model...
[Edit]
Looked back on iPlayer, and it appears to be the braceleted case, but on a branded strap...
Of course, new battery goes in new watch when new watch is made. New watch may then sit in inventory for quite some time... The X-33's I owned were 'new watches', but still needed the batteries replacing immediately
Two very different watches as options there... Personally, I would say buy the watch on a bracelet, and then buy a NATO strap separately, that way, you still have the option of the bracelet if you ever want it
K, I know what you mean about restaurants not selling a 100% accurate cola mix, I guess I was just thinking along the lines of if said display was from companies who were, for example, bottling 'generic cola' in Coke/Pepsi bottles, or literally just bottling up 'fizzy brown liquid' (again possibly in correctly branded bottles) I drink a fair amount of cola to manage my hypoglycemia, so the mention of 'counterfeit cola' just caught my eye
As long as the watches are not running when they're not being worn, then yes, the logic is sound. If a watch is not running, there is no mechanical wear on the parts, but if the watches were to be kept on watch winders, then the movements would wear just as much as if they were on the wrist
Put the gasket into place in the case, then line up the crystal properly, and lay a T-Shirt over the top. Keeping the T-Shirt tight to the watch, flip it all over onto the desk. Put your thumbs on the caseback, and gently but consistently apply pressure (meaning lean your full weight over and onto your thumbs) and you will hear /feel a 'pop' as the crystal is put back into place
Absolutely, and likewise, I think it would be a great way for people to try a watch they're considering buying, but there's so many potential issues, even down to what would be the thing to do should customs snag a piece, or worse yet, a watch arrive DOA which was functional on departure, I can understand why the idea never took off
That is such an inspiring piece, as the meaning behind it is so memorable, but also such 'underground knowledge' that many would not know. It's things like that which make this such a fantastic hobby
I suggested something like this a while back, and while a few folks were interested, it was mostly dismissed as being too open to abuses, as has happened in the past with Pass Around Watches Shame really, as it's an awesome idea
