  1. Indeed not a called out...i think your office mate do not seem pleased seeing another person wearing a Rolex so calls it by asking 'is it real?' So now he knows he is not the only one that wears a rolex in the office ....now less exclusive.
  2. True story. I know someone close who owns a gen 2 tone Cartier Santos. He got it from Tourneau back when the store used to send out photocopies (late 80s) of their inventory for sale. So he pent some of his hard earned $$ after being discharged from the US Navy. His first job back was a security guard working nights at a financial institution. One night he found himself one urinal stall away from a well dressed man inside the washroom. His left wrist gave away the unmistakable profile of the Santos He noticed that this well dressed man was staring at his watch even as he washed his hand...then sized him up and down in his security guard uniform, Turns out the well dressed man is one of the senior executives working late and happen to be wearing the same exact watch. Really an awkward moment for both. No one said a word and just a brief exchanged look as he left the washroom.
  3. Thanks for the comparison pics. I always thought that it would be in the same size presence as the 187.
  4. Super Rifle Jeans fit me the best....I own 4 pairs
  5. Oh boy...i hope there was insurance? I know a full value is not typically declared but maybe it came with a default amount? at least? I think the process would be to contact the recipient through mail that they have something of yours. You get to see them in person to provide info to get it back or tell them to destroy it over the phone.
  6. I used to not like white dialed watches...then i picked up the Breitling SA white dial just to see how it look and feel. I actually liked it. I picked up my second white dial - Breitling Legende with probably the only non-sunken dial rep. This coming holiday, I am looking to get my third white dial....likely a Breitling too.
  7. Luxury goods creates exclusivity mainly to those who can afford it. They become part of a small group or tribe that have 'it'. Being part of this exclusive tribe would of course make this person feel very good about it. We see this everyday like the gold, platinum or black credit card..naturally so some of us want to be part of this exclusive group. Seeing more and more people like the general public with these goods (i.e gen or rep) loses its exclusivity value and some of these members get upset....one reason is by having to fork out $$ for something that should not cost that much really.... .but that is the whole idea behind luxury goods. The story behind the brand, pedigree, the list famous people all make it very desirable... and being part of that and the emotions that go with it.
  8. Nice. This reminds me so much of dealxtreme.
  9. And expect to see the package 'in customs' from 1-4 days...on average about 1-2 days then it is passed on to the nearest distribution in your area.
  10. Good call on props. Bring in a table lamp too if you have it. Wear a lab coat or some sort with 'RWG' printed on the breast pocket and back ...just kidding
  11. Seriously, this scenario read a lot like what a TD posted earlier. Strongly suggest you get a refund asap. Contact another dealer and ask to confirm availability of the said watches then make a purchase. Other trusted dealers here work a little different by sourcing the models you need. Good luck.
  12. Looks nice on your wrist. What size is your wrist?
  13. I saw reps on 2 guys at work. Both were Daytonas. Biggest tell was the needles on the sub dials are all pointed in different directions (static) and the large seconds hand was moving. After a few minutes, the subdial hands are still in the same location. I did not call them out as I did not want to embarrass them.
  14. Tragedy befell this family...it seemed like once fatal accident to another....unfortunate events...but good to know i guess that the product lives on.
  15. Austintexas described it really well. These are luxury goods. They could have been made in Switzerland or China but that has little to do with the price of the goods. What you are really paying for is the story behind the brand and model and how it makes you feel owning one.
  16. I second this. Its a good point. Perhaps one of the reason for keeping it dirty or the way it is Would be to keep the high turn over or broken a7750. This way one would continue to buy more reps.
  17. What a great post. Thank you. Having the movement overhauled is definitely a must if you want to keep your rep.
  18. Certainly a lot of time and effort now in reacting to what happened. Still points to what was agreed or discussed in the shipping details. You will find in most if not all of sale listing, buyer is responsible for their own country's customs and duty. You can pretty much get the sense from the responses that this is the case. If no details (declare value, shipping type, how to pack etc) were agreed by you and the seller, then both of you responsible. So your best route is to settle this with the seller.
  19. Depends on what was stated in the listing. Did it say buyer is responsible? If none was stated and neither specified shipping details, both of you are responsible. If you stated shipping details and was not followed, then its sellers responsibility. Hope this helps.
  20. Just refund the guy and get it over with. There's someone else who will want to buy your goods and then tell them how long it will take to ship it before they send you payment.
  21. That has been on sale for at least 3 years if I recall correctly....I was in for the Legende and the sales person tried to push this one and told me and apparently, there was a defect in the movement and they are wholesaling this line with same movement. However the flying b, well its still waaay up there.
