  1. I know that there have been earlier Genensteins. This was a Genenstein w/ Phong midcase before it became a ARF Genenstein. I’m pretty sure its the first ARF Genenstein though. A member that I have quite low regards of (sacsah) was the first with a Phong Genenstein (as far as I know) and my friend was nr 2. That’s the reason for the Phong remarks. His midcase was both expensive and mot especially correct. I am not the creator of this watch, it is a close friend of mine. I was the one that got the ball rolling. Helped him aquire first the Phong and now the stock ARF case. However, the work is planned and done 100% by my friend. He is a master watchmaker, 6 years of watch smith school in the early 80s (or whatever its called in english) and 30+ years of working on high end watches. I asked him what he would charge for doing the same work and assembly should a member ask. However, he used to have 2 spare NOS 4130s (sealed), but since both remaining ones are sold, the service is strictly Bring-your-own-parts, as ordering a 4130 from Rolex Geneva is lets put it mildly... ”not that easy”.
  2. Bivintagestore2014 (sent you a PM withhis email)
  3. Almost forgot... JKF ”Snowflake” 7836 w/ removed Rolex Divers extension. Not quite 100% on the Sub, but perfect for the 7031.
  4. Just wanted to share a little project in the works. As I’ve always prefered Tudor to Rolex as I prefer the T in my line of work, the choice between a Valjoux 7734, 234 and 727, it’s not hard to decide on the cheapest option, which also happens to be the coolest of them all... 7734-donor watch (approx 300-500) USD eBay NOS catch: Watch case and dial (approx 550-800 USD incl shipping) Watch hands Yuki (65 USD): The rest is plug-and-play.... (Except for 3’o’clock minute totaliser, but that’s pretty easy too...)
  5. In case anyones interested. Modding cost are 750€. Contact me for info. Rehaut engravings must be removed to attain 10bar+ WR.
  6. Since it uses a genuine Rolex 4130 and genuine dial, I would assume this copy works...
  7. I think I’m pretty safe to say no-one has made a Genenstein from a ARF case before. Anyways, here you have it... ARF bracelet ARF midcase rest is gen In case anyone is wondering. It needs to be lathed on the inside since the 4130 has a bigger diameter that includes the movement holder area. Midcase neck for crystal gasket. Total work about 6hs. Also, he wants to inform that Phong can go poop himself since his cases are full with 0,2mm crown height erors putting pressure on stems etc. The thing is. If you have a good base to work with (lets assume all VN case modders and similar do). If it takes a full days salary (lets assume you want big shot prices) 600 USD for a midcase. Fine... ok... But charging that price for manual lathing and drilling, and its not 100%. You might as well buy a good base (eg chinese rep) and get a professional watch maker with the right tools. And then pay that premium sum, actually get something worth the cash. No this is NOT an advert, as he has enough work, but more a proof-of-concept!
  8. Awesome build! That dial and the rest mates perfectly... please isolate the bezel insert with Kapton or some type pf masking tape. Then take some Polywatch ans give that pearl some love. Jensens and Phongs pearls look like rotten yellow M’n’Ms. Once again... Awesome!
  9. There's always this option.. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/332514782628 Awesome seller, good items, good prices.
  10. You are asking ”How long is a piece of thread” and the answer is everything from very short to very long. there is only one option straight from TD. The Cartel with Venus 175. The next level is modding it... e.g. RJ. Sure you can make a custom dial. But expensive. Maybe 500 to 1200 USD? Then we have a Vietnamese v72-build. Now youre in the 3000 USD+ Why not simply buy the Steinhart homage??
  11. On the other part... Semi-frankens with almost gen-like functions and quality is quite impressive. Noob LMPO, JF 16610, ARF 116610 etc.. Sure. It's almost the price of a Steinhart. However.. The finish on Steinharts is uncomparable. Look at mr TC Selling as Ginault. A lot of people find it Worth the price at 1000€. Which is quite interesting considering what he sold his v6/v7's for.
  12. They are. He sent me extra photos.. However, he is very crappy at shooting them in the lighting necessary to show the imperfections, so it's almost impossible to see the difference between his "best" dial (which he wants about 250USD for) and his crappiest... I would bid, and keep my fingers crossed..
  13. @rolojack is the man with the magic. Look through all his threads., Learn.
  14. I’m surpiaed there isnt a good 7031/7149 rep when we have both Seagulls Venus 175 clone which is basically Valjoux 7730 and Poljot 3031(I always forget the reference) which is a modernized 7734 which ls Venus 178). But no... factories Esther make Daytona without full funktion than a baskcally perfect Tudor rep.
  15. It's a p.o.s. movement and most parts are not backwards-compatible with ETA 7750. I know because I tried to take a balance from an ETA and replace. I'd rather they used a 2824. But sure.. this way you can use the chrono to impress friends for max 60s.
  16. From personal experience, intermittent stopping has 99% been due to something dilocating (often screw loose) and lodging itself in the works.
  17. 2hs left... No bidding. 10 pcs NOS 16800/16610 dials genuine for 150 USD a piece...
  18. Of course not. However it extremely comfortable and close to gen-ones arent more than 50€.
  19. Lot Of 10 Vintage Rolex Submariner 168000 16800 16610 Dials https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122900626482 Highly attractive with the JF rehautless 16610LN. Id gladly buy 2pcs.
  20. Here's Zocker/Dirk on Repgeek.com http://www.repgeek.com/forumdisplay.php?328-HQ-Watches-(High-Quality-Watches-Zocker http://www.hqwatches.de/index.php/en/
  21. Why not use a Glidelock SubC-clasp... They're so much sweeter?
  22. Dirk / Zocker on RWI (now down) had "SwissMachines" with welding and repolishing top-class. Germany. However their work on vintage items I can not vouch for.
  23. I'm afraid that you most likely will be forced to buy a full bracelet... I'm pretty sure factories don't sell just the clasp. Try a TD. Toro-Bravos (from personal experience) usually gets me any spare part at a reasonable cost. The ARF-bracelet is the best curretly i.m.o.
