  1. Interesting read... A bit "shallow" in the info and picture department, but none-the-less sweet!
  2. While I'm waiting for my MBW to arrive... Sweet...
  3. Looks great! But I think the only way to get really good quality prints is finding/drawing a vector-based version with vectorized fonts etc..
  4. Some are awesome, some are way overpriced. http://www.borealiswatch.com/store/#!/Borealis-Bull-Shark-Automatic-Diver-Watch-Date-Miyota-9015-Ceramic-Black-Bezel-Black-Dial/p/59774313/category=16525119 compared to https://www.google.se/search?q=ancon+sea+shadow+ii&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj0u_buttbKAhVF1ywKHfVVCzQQsAQIHg&biw=1680&bih=901#imgrc=WurqPWIOCZPaSM%3A guess, which is what...
  5. Sweet! Hopefully mine should arrive soon too..
  6. Hi mate, Did you buy an LF or a JF? Because you're kind of mixing it up a bit? Or have I misunderstood it completely...
  7. Looks great! So far I think we have come to the conclusion that these are "MQ" dials but at 1/4 of the price. That will create some very interesting builds I'm prone to think... I'm waiting for an exactly similar, but from dung_chrono in a couple of days...
  8. If only there was a similar one for "modern" hands If I've understood it correctly we have MBW 5513/1665/1680 hands (NOS) Clarks Tudor hands TC 11610 11613 onlinestore.hk Any other tips?
  9. That guy is selling a lot of very sketchy stuff, CAVE..
  10. Well done! Beautiful, and really resourceful with the Seiko mvmt!
  11. Anyone? So a "regular" crystal is 29.5 mm in the "mounting" part C. And 30.4 mm in the visible part A. I'm guessing the width of a gasket is about 0.45mm. Then we have the height E... Since the double-domed sapphires aren't available with a lip, I guess the only option is getting one that is 29.5 (C) with a thickness (D) of 1 to 2 mm. Should I use an I-formed nylon gasket or an L-formed? L-formed right? Then I can do: How high is b? Because I don't want the sapphire to be "too" recessed, neither do I want it too high? --- Please any tips?
  12. Finally done with reshaping the case.. All that is left is maybe drilling hug holes and drill/tap the case.
  13. Some inspiration: Crystal http://www.vintagehour.com/rolex-tropic-crystals-ii-a-comparison-between-t19-and-t39-references/ PCG case shape & 700-crown Lume yellow/amber puffy Hands (gold, maybe even a big lollipop hand á la 6538 7924) Bezel insert (in purple/matte red) http://www.vintagehour.com/visual-comparison-a-study-of-rolex-bezel-inserts-part-2/
  14. Yeah it's from Dung. Accidentally paid overprice for it. Should have gotten it from tonnywatches for 250USD incl. S&H. After some discussion it seems that they have the same vietnamese supplier. Nice. Better than paying close to 1000USD from MQ? Yeah, I was planning it, since I was told that it was the only case that had a enough meat to be close to it. I am aware of the fact that it won't be 100%. On the other hand, as soon as one will see that dial and the TC-hands, for a vintage-Rolex fan, it should be pretty obvious that it's a replica. So, considering stuff like case thickness, rubber ring under the bezel, etc, it's "good enough for me".
  15. So, with the influx of NOS MBW-watches I'm thinking that a separate thread for my build might be appropriate. Base: - MBW 5512/5513 case w/ movement; 400 USD - Superdome Clarks T19; 17 USD - Ended up using a Sternkreutz x-tal instead 30 USD? - Athaya acrylic pearl; 10 USD - - MQ-ish 5512 gilt chapter dial; aprox 250 USD - Custom bracelet using solid-link cartel links + Noob v3 glidelock + WSO 580 end links. Aprox 150-200 USD incl. labour Alternatives: Solid straight end with adjustable ratchet buckle 108 USD RECOMMENDED!! Ratchet is perfect! http://www.ebay.com/itm/20mm-Super-Engineer-Solid-Stainless-Steel-Straight-End-Watch-Band-Ratchet-buckle-/400813228226?hash=item5d525480c2 Ploprof Flat Shark Mesh (length 124-141mm) 123 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/20mm-Ploprof-316-Reform-Stainless-Steel-SHARK-Mesh-Watch-Band-Dome-Deployant-/201223217354?var=&hash=item74831f7803 Flat Shark Mesh 53 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/191569107073 Regular Shark Mesh 47 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/151666612608 NOSTIME Oil Tan Brown Watch Strap 125 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/141871196866 WatchGecko: Semi-matte heavy solid bracelet (fits 2 mm fat bars) 68 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/290842706038?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&var=590098120715&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Solid brushed double lock bracelet 43 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/20mm-Solid-Brushed-Double-Lock-Heavy-Stainless-Steel-Watch-Bracelet-Fits-ALL-/371535590120?hash=item56813f32e8 - - Yuki fat font insert 30 USD TC 16613 Gold Sub hands 25 USD / Relumed by Big Daz (+50 USD aprox) Athaya 700 crown + tube 50 USD
  16. So let's do a little necro-bump. >> I'm looking at double-domed sapphires for a 116110 Noob-project. The only candidates seem to be: Candidate 1: Type : Double-Domed Diameter (Size): 30mm Thickness : 1.8mm Height: 2.6mm Material : Sapphire Crystal http://www.ebay.com/itm/301642988489?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=600504451449&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Candidate 2: Type : Double-Domed Diameter (Size): 29.5mm Thickness : 1.8mm Height: 2.8mm Material : Sapphire Crystal http://www.ebay.com/itm/301719925440?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=600553582169&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Candidate 3: Type : Double-Domed Diameter (Size):29.5mm Thickness : 1.4mm Height: 2.5mm Material : Sapphire Crystal http://www.ebay.com/itm/29-5mm-Sapphire-Crystal-Watch-Crystals-Double-Domed-Height-2-5mm-x-Thick1-4mm-/291476051243 Candidate 4++ 30mm thick: 1,5 // 30,5mm thick 1,2 // 30,5 thick 1,0 // 30,5 thick 1,3 >> Which is the most suiting one? Which gasket should I use? Any Clarks or similar gasket would help.
  17. There are several ebay sellers that have access to the same supplier I think.. I found another one (through some detective work), sells gilt dials incl. hands and shipping for 230USD.
  18. So this Tonnywatches is a big mysterium... Better buy some dials before he becomes greedy I hope!
  19. Sweet! Looks really beautiful! Any indications on price? What is their usual target "population"?
  20. While you buy an Athaya Crown, pick up some acrylic pearls from him too.. They're worth the ridiculously low price he charges.
