Voted for Yachtmaster, marvellous build quality, re-sale value and looks. Also, the only Watch that isn't ridiculously oversized. I remember the day.......... before 45 mm wristwatches. It was a glorious time. Ambrosia and wine.

Since there are so many vintage experts here, that have a good knowledge of good and not so good prices. Added to the fact that some items so rarely show up. Might help with fewer threads with similar questions. And since "search and you shall find" sometimes and that easy for some items. Well, maybe I'm wrong and it'll go to page 10 in a couple of weeks. Or maybe some other readers will throw in their current chase, and maybe get a good feel to however or not it is a good / decent / bad price for the item they're pondering to buy. My first take: 1680/8 Skin(nier) font original insert with tritium pearl w/ surround // condition good // 170 USD

Ok... So a bit of updates. I decided to go for a Yuki fat font and a correctly lumed pearl with matching tone by the Big D. I also received the TC16613 hands and he relumed also them to match the tone/patina of the vietnam dials guy. The parts are now in the hands of mr Jack lé Rolooo. And I've always loved mesh bracelets. Ever since I saw a Seamaster on ém as a boy. I know it is not usual in the Rolex department. Well I dont like rattly bracelets or light for that matter (cough that leaves all but the Sub-C ones) so I would have been forced either to redo a Sub-C into an end link-friendly creation of evil. Or ventured into the incorrect rep bracelets and try to fit a SubC-clasp on it. And then, the authenticity still is qustionable and not looked well upon. So I though, eff it. I present to you... Ratchet buckle, we like, no logo, we like, and should fit 2.0 mm springsbars with a tight fit (for a less rattly feeling)

What is a decent price for a gen Rolex Sapphire Crystal?
hologramet replied to gasebah's topic in The Rolex Area
@gasebah Nope, but sounds very very interesting. urdelar.se have crystals, bezel inserts etc. IF they dont have in stock, they put you on the wait list. -
Ah, the gen size dilemma, interesting take on IT @dpap "Finally there are cheap cases fot all the cheap gult dials flying around. Hows the profile view and height of it compared to 5510?

Im not the biggest fan regarding 1016, but that is one b-e-a-utiful Watch. Wear it in good Health!

Isn't that Facebook-Mark?

It could be anything mate.. Who knows. Cheap crystal, bad bezel insert, completely wrong bracelet. Thailand? China? Welcome to the dark side, sorry for your wallet!

fixing Rolex spec dials to fit on DG or ETA movements
hologramet replied to rolojack's topic in The Rolex Area
Think you could do this on my 5512? -
You just can't compare the quality feel between a cheap 2813 sub and q Noob V6s. You feel and see the difference. Also.. A lot more differs between a 166110 and 16610. The bracelet, links, glidelock clasp. Thicker lugs. Different bezel construction and look. In the best of world's I'd like a Sub, with lugs and crown guards from the 16610, Maxi dial and hands like on 166110, bezel assembly from 166110. Bracelet with solid links and glidelock clasp.

That is a v5 bracelet. It's too long compared to the lugs in the outer "links" of the SEL And you need close-ups of the pearl, to fully judge the insert

Good luck, will follow this build, great "operning post". I really like Reading background, thoughts and future plans!

Add a ClassicWatchParts T19 / Clarks T19 Superdome (if you're already ordering from Clarks and want to save in on the dineros)

Tempus Machina replica, how would you do it?

I have to say... Noob v6s. Why, well.. It's amazing. Being able to achieve something other factories ain't even close to. Goodies Bracelet and SEL-fitment and the clasp. Yummy. Bezel inserts and the pearl. Rehaut engravings. Case specs: "Gen"-size. And adding the 3135-option for those wanting to Franken. Nasties - Case specs could have been good and gotten better from v3 and not back a step with v4/v5 - Cheating customers by using old v5-parts on the v6s and pretending like nothing had happened (p****s me off, much, very muchymuch) - The dial is still just average. But that's easily remedied by switching to a BP dial, and having it relumed in real Superluminova - The hands... Same as above. But same solution. TC LV v2 hands and reluming them in real Superluminova So in short. 350 USD + 80 USD parts + 120 USD relume and you have a really nice Sub-C. Throw in a gen spec crystal, or a AR-modded aftermarket crystal and it's in Super-replica territory. 550 USD you say is a lot? No... I mean... Just an MBW old-style-sub with bracelet is there. And you haven't even started modding.

Tempus Machina replica, how would you do it?
hologramet replied to hologramet's topic in The Rolex Area
Look what the cat dragged in: RLX 300/1000 @ Toro Bezel, wrong but nice Insert, wrong but the triangle is OK Dial, wrong, but would look pretty good with a Vintage Superluminova relume Hands, see above Case, wrong, but at least the CG's are gone. Would need some chamfers on the lugs Bracelet, not that shabby. Not Noob V6s quality, but OK Crystal... mehh... Crown, very wrong, Athaya v2 is needed. The big question is.. Which would be the beat base? This or Noob V6s. I think at would go for both, and sell the V6s midcase and bezel assembly. All in all a pretty good base
