acceptable behavior from one of our trusted collectors?
chad replied to deltatahoe's topic in General Discussion
i think you mean dealer not collector -
I wanted to get my new date wheels put in my 3717. Anyone know anyone in NYC?
-
how about a nice cup of coffee for it....those white fonts are hurting my eyes

NBA players, NFL payers are into watches mostly as a sign of wealth and the whole bling thing. Any NBA or NFL player could wear the worst fake and i would think it is real. They like to waste money on anything that makes them look rich. Most "bikers" spend most of there income on a bike which is cool. People should spend money on what they want to. And get tattoos if they want to. I do not see many people yachting with sleeve tattoos or enjoying a day at the polo matches. Never seen any visible tattoos on fifth ave. here in NYC at the watch stores. It is just an unlikely pair. I would except some tattooed guy to walk up to me while I wearing my IWC and say "cute watch sissy boy, get the *** out of my way!" not "hey is that the power reserve?, beautiful!!" Geniune high end time pieces are kind of a snooty little hobby and tattoos are on the opposite end of the spectrum. So yea if I saw someone with a sleeve of tattoos and a tank top on drinking mountain dew wearing a PAM........REP!! (someone posted that exact photo here years back....i saved it!!)

Tattooed arms and rich rock star = Maybe 10000 watch and tattooed arms = most likely rep Quite simply the demographic that collects fine time pieces and the demographic that gets extensive tattoos do not usually overlap unless you are a wealthy rock star. I hope that is not offensive because I think people should wear and do as they like but on average I would say that is true. quote name='fitmic' date='May 18 2007, 07:42 AM' post='248931'] I have both my arms tattooed and still wear watches.

Is there a rep that you would wear into an AD?
chad replied to teddy boy's topic in General Discussion
What makes you think AD's are so smart? Most of them do not even know what model I am asking for when I browse and no NOTHING about the watches. Even in Wempe in NYC. They are clueless 90 percent of the time. It is a job for them and there are so many watches in the store to keep track of they do not see a cannon pin being off or date fonts unless you hand them the piece. And for them to confront you they would have to be 100 percent sure and sometimes I am not even 100 percent sure when I see some with a panny on here in NYC expect for the too white font of the H series, I can spot that across the room. -
I just saw that someone sent in there 3717 for lume and the crooked day/date was fixed just by realigning things by The Zigmeister. Others have bought the wheels for 8 dollars from cousins. Now the cousteau pictures are popping up and dates look terrible. Otherwise the thing is stunning. Dealers and makers... Why go to all this trouble making these great reps if you cannot line up the date wheels? When I first mentioned that the 3717 should not be released because of this issue especially since it was delayed because an o ring was .0005 off I was flamed with people saying that even the gens were like this. Now we see that The Zigmeister has fixed this and I asked an AD repair guy about a crooked dates in an IWC yesterday and he said NEVER and if it happening it needs to be repaired. or... charge us 25 dollars more and put eta wheels in. either way... Let's just not have anymore crooked dates on super reps. Save those for the regular 250 ones. p.s. Those of you who are asking to have the watches serviced before they leave china on asia super reps think about the fact they cannot even get these wheels on straight. Would you really want them servicing your mvt?
-
Looks great but the 3 o'clock marker is crooked... For 200 bucks.......great but for this price they should be straight....no more junk....date wheel is bad enough. Then again if I saw the work conditions and knew what they paid the poor guys that assemble these I would probably never buy another replica again.

a panerai or big bang? There are hardly any wrist shots on the net of this. Is it bigger than we think?
-
just measured the crown on the 111i......interesting!
chad replied to flavor flav's topic in The Panerai Area
I have been telling people the gens have thinner crowns for a over a year.....people still like those fat ones that are a sure tell as a rep. -
new mods just finished and pics next to my gen.
chad replied to flavor flav's topic in The Panerai Area
That is the single most impressive thing I have seen in 2 years of lurking on the boards.... wow.... Does the coffee affect the texture of the black part of the dial? Chad -
I just got an amazing modded 176H. I was looking at it and photos of the gen and something about it and the H series are just not right. They do not "pop" when you see them like the older G series reps. (i know the sandwich in general does not but this is beyond that) I finally saw what the problem is.... The dial itself is much lower on the rep than on the gen. I saw some side photo of a gen and the dial was almost twice as close to the crystal as it is in the rep. That explains on the gen when you see it on the wrist you get this great sandwich effect that is just not there on the rep. I thought it was the AR but it is not. Look at how shallow it is on the gen... any fixes for this?

Pics? pretty please?

I very disappointed to see the photos here. Andrew assured me the carbon fiber came with the proper polished bezel... not looking forward to my package much anymore...had my heart set on that bezel which appears not to exist on any of josh and andrews supply. edit andrew just informed me that you can the polished bezel on it and mine does in fact have it.
-
Looks 100 percent like a brushed ceramic bezel to me on the photos...
-
Just curious ..... have a 112H Chad

In my opinion the way eddie's drop shipper packs things they just seem like they are begging to be confiscated and eddie is the kind of guy that would not really talk to the guy to fix that. My pilot was packed terribly in a square cardboard watch box in a envelope...looked so sketchy. Andrew's packing is an example of the way it should be done. Tightly taped bubble wrapped low profile packing.
-
Hmm cannot see the texture on the dial ....ill look again
-
As far as I can see the new big bangs do not have the textured dial but just the one from the SS version. This is not accurate? .....for 598 i hope they are not slapping a black bezel on the SS version.
-
I would leave it alone....
-
it just is not right and by that I do not mean accurate. IMHO it is a different font and one that lacks the elegance and simplicity of the original
-
I have bought many watches in the past from eddie... He was always the fastest of the dealers My last experience with his honesty and communication was the worst I have had with a dealer since I got into reps.
-
Actually i think it looks terrible...
