Interesting. The dsn seems like it might wear bigger than the gen. Longer and little fatter? That would be a deal breaker. The gen is right at my wearable limit

No fair... That is a good one.

Considering this thread is basically praising his latest watch I do not think it is all that mean. He is has a business here and it has been discussed over and over again about this. Most of his dials are the wrong font all together and wrong spacing. With all the picking on date wheels, cannon pins, ar color, short hands, rehaut I think if the fonts are wrong on a watch that is all about simplicity and detail that I can comment on it Also if the rest of his watch was not so good that part would not stick out as much. That said this new watch looks really terrific and I will surely be ordering one. That does not change that fact that at 2-3 feet I could call out most but not all DSN's as a rep(not the 47mm models)and with a stock panerai rep I would have to hold it to see the pin. p.s. Kruzer, the standard dealer 232 is not very good at all unless modded. Look about at rollis......fantastic!!

One thing I have noticed from your photos about all pam reps......dsn, and standard The dial looks like it is set deeper on the reps. On my gen the dial looks like it is right below the crystal. It could be the angle the crystal reflects the dial or the deepness of the dial itself but it has always been something I have noticed about gens.

Thanks for taking the time to post photos!! Yes you are right, they do look to be an improvement. I have two problems with dsn dials... font spacing and type, and the number cut outs. It looks as if in your photos they are quite nicely done. I have a 176 gen and the 176 DSN dial is much less accurate than these. The AR on yours looks very weak.... Is that the case? Chad

Truth be told I despise most of DSN watches. The dials are just terrible. That is my personal opinion. To those who sort of agree with me how is the font and spacing and dial color (upgraded) on the 232? I am thinking it looks pretty good but wanted some advice before I pull the trigger.

Roll call.. How many RWG members have a genuine Panerai?

No offense to anyone, but I loved the styling of this watch also and went to try on the gen. Was really excited to see it. Man...... tags are just not even close to most gens. The rep iwc's, panerais and HBB have nicer finishes than the gen tags I saw. The fit and finish was junk IMHO -
First thing you need to do is tame those bright white fonts...... I am wearing a 176I gen right now....it is at least 4 shades off. otherwise... nice nice nice

There is certainly nothing wrong with davidsen's cases but a standard 005 from josh is a pretty nice dial. Sure it may have some issues but nothing a relume could not fix. I just do not understand davidsen. If an iwc or hublot rep was released that had the wrong main font, wrong shape numbers and wrong tint lume this board would be all over that. Do not even get me started on his new 111h. It is actually a G series dial that looks like he cut around the numbers to make it a sandwich dial. It is atrocious. I have had the standard josh/andrew 005 next to my gen. It is really quite close. on the dial. Get a dsn and a standard and swap the dial. haha....expensive though. Whatever you do I strongly discourage buying into dsn hype. Is it a mystery I will never understand.

Come on guys....... keep your standards up!!!! That dial is trash!!!!!! I have a gen 005 it looks nothing like that at all. Panerai font, Number font, lume color, spacing.....all terrible. Davidsen may make a nice case but his dials are the most baffling thing to me in the rep world. They look like chinatown stuff!!!

I was handling my modded 3717 with an older model gen IWC fliger chronograph tonight and I was surprised that the finish and pop of the watch on the wrist was the same or better on the rep. I was considering a gen 3717 after selling my pam 005. Is this a waste? Has anyone directly compared a modded 3717 and a gen? I know people sometimes say that a gen is a gen ...blah blah blah but many gens these days have crappy fit and finish(some omegas and tags...etc) What do you guys think? Does the gen 3717 really outclass a modded rep? P.S. Leave the movement out of it I know that is far superior.

It is not right the dealers are advertising these watches as double ar.....
-
I think at this point the ads from the dealers should have the DOUBLE AR removed.... This watch simply has bad single side AR

You are kidding right? Pug and you are correct....... He has given the forum perhaps more than any other member......... but?!?!?!?!?! You cannot even get an appointment with the guy!!!! (he is good) He is making some nice money here and loving what he does at the same time. 100 bucks a pop for lume, 300 for a service...etc.etc.etc...... is hogwash?!?!? (great prices I think too) If giving someone a venue to do what they love for a profit is hogwash then I have no idea what to say. You can send some hogwash to my paypal account if you like -

Well maybe that is not the right word. I just find that the community has really supported him. I just think it is a little silly......the whole thing. Do you not agree that he is treated quite well here? I never implied that he does this for the money. I know he loves the hobby. He did decide to create a side business here and a lucrative one. My only point is that in business you have to deal with some wacky customers and characters. I think for the most part here though he has been met with so much appreciation and support. When you cross the line into services and business you have to have a thicker skin. I know it is almost taboo to say but I have seen him get defensive quick with people. I just wish he would not and take it all in fun and support and value the friends and customers he has here. My only point is a positive one. The community is great here and if you are making great side money doing what you love then I guess I fail to see the issue. -

As we can see he has quite a bit of love here...... I think two facts no one can disagree with are.... 1. He runs a well respected small business on the forums that is highly sought after and successful. 2. He is highly regarded as an expert and master of his trade by an overwhelming majority here and has a great passion for his work. Running a business can be tough and you have to deal with all sorts and it seems to me his life here is pretty good and support for his work is off the charts. Leaving the forums seems a little silly and frankly a little rude since you have received so much business and support from this very community. Seems life is pretty good here for you. Most e-business owners are not as lucky as you. -

I am sure I will get flamed for saying this but... The Zigmeister your work is among the best I have ever seen......no doubt about it. I have spoke out about a certain subject of hand painted lume looking a little rougher than the machine stuff the gen factories use. For instance on the cousteau bezel. I preferred the rep machine lume to your amazing hand lume job(I have no idea how you even did it) just because human beings cannot get it as even as the machine and in daylight it looks different than gen. (that is my personal opinion, not a fact, most people prefer the lume) In each post I was very careful to sing your praises but discuss the limitation of the human hand and if it was worth it. You insulted me and belittled me in every post, taking everything very personally. My point...you are too sensitive. You do amazing work that speaks for itself. You need not ever be on the defensive for anything you have done. People will always question some things and you are not perfect. No one is...... Suck it up and continue to participate here because 50 times more people appreciate what you do then the few that might take issue with anything and most of those have been relatively polite about it. The ones that are rude should be banned anyway. -
From across the room the only ones I can tell are the reps that are supposed to have double AR and do not....iwc and breitling. I see a bentley rep once a day on the subway here in NYC with no AR. Usually getting on at 125 st Double AR when called for is the best upgrade for a rep period. The H series pam with too bright white font is another I see every few weeks. It is such a terrible flaw in my opinion. So easy to spot and really makes the sandwich dial pop even less than it already does. I have still not even seen one stained enough to match the gen. I had one from VAC that was darkened and next to a gen I had it was still a few shades brighter. Unmodded next to a gen it is laughable. And any davidsen. I have seen one of two here in the city. The dials are so off you can see that from a few feet. Though most great reps if you can pull them off with your lifestyle and dress not even the best expert on the board could tell without getting them in their hands.

My consecutive orders as follows lead me to buy a gen pam 005 1. pam daylight swiss - top pusher did not work 2. HBB - Screws falling out like crazy (replaced by dealer, replacement taken by customs) 3. Ingy - hands misaligned so that 12:00 was both hands together at 1 clock 4. Two DOA Bell and Ross 03's (forgot to add) 5. Gave up on the Bell and Ross and dealer agreed to exchange for the PAM Ti GMT with some cash. I asked 4 times if it was going to be the updated dial with the stick marker at 9. (They said "of course, of course my friend) The only "of course" was that I got an old dial version Of course the "collector" agreed to replace these but not without the whole "oh no, I never have defective watches" email. I fixed most of them myself. I do not fault the two dealers these watches came from since they dropship. I fault the suppliers and the fact they know we will still pay 800 for an HBB even if the screws fall out. Why would they care? One thing I have noticed two on getting defective watches replaced, they most times send you the old version or old stock as a replacement or one that has been sent back before. Now I just get ones I really want and get them worked on. So quality control almost "broke" me. That said I like my modded watches as much as a gen.
