I got my Skyland Blacksteel from hont back when he had a deal going for $270! I jumped on it and got it. Great price and great watch. Shipping was fast. that was 2 years ago.. so i'm not sure if Hont is even selling much these days around here.... I'd contact him if i were you.

pretty sure no swiss.... In any case, The Zigmeister did an EXTENSIVE review of the new 7753 movements in this watch and concluded that they were quite decent as long as you get them serviced. The movement he reviewed came rather dirty and under oiled in some parts, over oiled in others... But with good servicing this movement should last you forever

1st Post, 1st Rep...learning the hard way...
plaifender replied to Bruxon's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
@ Kalvilmer.. Take it easy bro. A scam is a scam is a scam is a scam.. and the scam websites know exactly what they're doing and what's available in the market place.. they count of helpless victims no "knowing any better", just because someone is naive.. doesn't mean they can't get scammed.. In fact.. it means they'll get scammed even easier.. No need to argue about semantics. Calm your tone down a bit and help a brother out. You're lucky enough to have found us before something like this happened to you, but keep in mind that you could have easily done the same thing as him a month ago before joing us Kal. Look on the bright side, We're all here now.. and none of will be "scammed" "cheated" or "duped" any time in the future -
your datewheel looks fine. and looks gen eta to me. No reason to swap if they're the exact same

ask mary at watch international. take a pic of your watch and send it to her. she can source most things... I'm not exactly sure how many different bracelets there are for the smp though! Does your bracelet just feel cheap? Or does it actually function poorly? you can always spend the 600 bucks for a Gen bracelet!

The problem lies in that, quite possibly, the rotor noise has nothing to do with lubrication.. if you over lube and the extra (whatever you decide to use) seeps into the movement, you could be looking at problems down the road... If you really insist on not servicing your watch.. (which will prolong its life ANYWAY), go ahead and send a pm to Francisco or possibly The Zigmeister. Ask VERY nicely, and they might give you some insight, granted.. you've got to keep in mind, they get tons of email from members everyday askin advice for little things like this.. Some guys have used axel grease and a toothpick on some 21j movements, but i havent heard of many people daring to mess with an ETA (asian or swiss alike).. A 21j costs nothing to replace.. a 2824 will run you at least $140 new

Need help finding ofrei part # for UPO 45mm 2824-2 ETA
plaifender replied to Bam Rock's topic in The Omega Area
You can source ALL the parts I listed above from Ofrei or Cousins UK. Frankensteining your rep gets expensive once you add Gen Crystall (like me), dial and bezel piece. Add a gen bracelet and you're almost at the same price as a Gen!! Crown, Tube and hands are cheap mods, but it's not worth it to change the hands yourself unless your experienced. The hands are frankly the least important to me, seeing as how the rep ones look just fine to me. If you're not going to get a gen dial, i'd forget the hands, since you have to take the dial off of the movement and remove the hands to do it. My next mod will be a gen dial for sure.. and if i get the money.. a gen bracelet down the road! -
stay safe Offshore and every other Aussie that might be affected!

The new 250s are supposed to be excellent. At least as good as the new 111j and 177L's that just came out last month. These were the pams that started the "1:1" pam craze! they came out in sep/october if i'm not mistaken:

beautiful! I love my blacksteel

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being easy, 10 being difficult), this is a 2 or 3. VERY simple! I'm not a watch modder by any means... after asking several modders here to do the work for me, (they were all up to their neck with other projects), I just decided to bite the bullet and do it myself! I installed crystal and tube and crown. It's necessary to take out the movement, but that literally takes about 3 minutes... once the movement has been removed it's just a question of:\ 1. taking out the old crown tube (it's lodged into the case by pure friction, actually a little tricky to get out, but get some needle nose pliers and you should be fine). 2. removing any debris from case whole where tube was 3. Applying a small amount of araldite epoxy to the hole, and to the base of the new tube. 4. putting the new tube in case and maintain firm contact with a vice or clamp (be sure not to mar your watch!)Let sit for at least 12 hours (24 hours is even better) 5. Remove old crown from stem by placing stem in bit holder and turning crown till it screws off. clean stem and apply some loctite to the threads.. Screw on new gen crown. 6. Remove vice from watch case, brush away any glue debris that might be around the tube, put the movement back in case, insert the stem back into watch.. screw down your crown and VOILA!!! Sounds more difficult than it is. Easiest mod to do yourself. I did it and my results were great! Glue setting Finished product:

Thinking about it is actually harder than the work itself. Once you start breaking down the watch, and get halfway through the mod.... you realize how simple it really is! I was scared as hell when I did it! after i finished i was like.. "so that's it!???" . Very simple mod. If you know how to use a screw driver to remove the movement, and you know how to use glue... then this is the mod for you! Of course, take your time and don't be sloppy, but very simple elementary stuff here...

Don't lube any part of your watch. Get it serviced or don't touch it. it's not like oiling a door hinge.. to be properly lubed, it should be disassembled... Not sure how many lubricants are needed to properfly oil a watch but i think it's around 3. If it's running fine, leave it the way it is, and get it serviced when you can.. (No shortcuts

He had only worn it for 4 hours? Was he active for those 4 hours? If he just wound it and then sat around on the couch for four hours.. it doesn't surprise me. The watch has to be in constant motion in order to get a full charge. There's not a so-called break in period. But the watch must be in motion to wind itself.. if he simply hand-wound it a few times and then sat at his computer.. very likely that the watch would stop. With a full days wear.. you should expect to get between 20- 36 hours of power reserve. Tell your brother to wear it actively for a day, and then get back to us. Also.. shake the watch gently before wearing it.. no need to put any more stress on the movement or stem by hand winding it. It should absolutely not be necessary with an automatic watch.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all in the designated storm path! @Ken: Katrina was not a Category 5 hurricane by the time it hit New Orleans. In fact, it was barely a Category 3. The destruction in New Orleans was not directly caused by the Hurricane at all, but by structural failures in the Levee system. New Orleans (which is below sea level)has seen stronger and bigger storms and come out of them with no problems. The destruction was caused mainly by flooding.. not by hurricane force winds, this coupled with RIDICULOUS response time by the U.S. government was really the cause of most of the deaths that occured during katrina. Death from, dehydration, heat exhaustion, bacterial infection and drownings were the main causes of most deaths.. I felt inclined to add that bit, as I have a lot of family that was affected in New Orleans by the storm.

Wow.. Now i've never heard of that problem on a GEN. Welding wouldn't be necessary if they used a little metal epoxy on the tube and thread. Araldite bonds metal like no other! found this strength test on youtube. The nut is bonded to a piece of metal with araldite and withstood 145 newtons of tensil strength. That translates into 1,422.45kg of force. I don't see how a tube could get dislodged from the watch if araldite was used. The crown would strip way before the tube came undone from the case. Maybe you could suggest that omega use Araldite instead of welding the tube into place.Or do it yourself...? I imagine you have to pay for service from omega anyways, unless your watch is within the 1 year warranty....

Yes, just order the crown and tube from Ofrei (5 or 6 bucks for tube, 20 or 25 bucks for gen crown), you will get everything you need for the mod with it. Literally 30 mins of pure work.. not even. In regards to your other question, No. The gen tube is a little smaller than the rep tube. That's why Araldite epoxy is needed. (it's incredibly strong, metal epoxy). Youll need to apply araldite to both the case hole and the tube and keep them pressed together with a clamp or vice, for 24hours. Once the tube is epoxied onto the watch, you just put the movement back in, install the new crown on the movement stem and VOILA

Very simple to open. With a good pair of rubber gloves you might be able to open it up with your hands. If not a very rubbery and high non-dusty raquetball will work as well. Or an AD

Yeah.. Not sure, if you have an Asian ETA.. it's SO ridiculously close to a swiss eta that it doesn't really matter if you change it or not. The most important thing is not to replace it.. but to have it serviced.. Even if you replace it with a new movement, you should have the new movement serviced as well. The asian clones (Aka Seagull movements) are reliable movement when serviced, Do not confuse you're movement for an Asian 21j (most commonly a DG2813).. it might be worth it to have it serviced. As far as the problem is concerned.. I might ask the dealer for some movement holder screws.. The problem could POSSIBLY be exactly what he mentioned. If you think it's the anti-mag cover.. just take it off... it's not a necessary part of the movement anyways.. Better yet.. Email Domi or another modder and VERY VERY politely ask if they see anything immediately that catches their attention.
