I have never tried the gen Aquatimer chrono, but the regular gen Aquatimer on rubber fitted my wrist well. I have however had problems with the similar style rubber straps on the Carrera Racing and 45mm PO. The strap is fixed to the case and does not hug the wrist properly.. The simple Breitling rubber strap sits better.

Carrera CV2010 for me. One week old, and finally a watch that managed to give the SFSO a rest! Nice understated black/silver looks, like the Omega Moonwatch. The hour hand has some slight yellowish discolorization, visible in direct sunlight... but I hope that is something which can be buffed away when I send it in for movement service. This is a keeper for sure!

Just some eyecandy of the newly released "Grand Carrera" series with 43mm case. Nice pictures, in TTK-class! Grand Carrera Chronograph. New Calibre 17RS movement. MSRP is $4,495. TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Grande-Date GMT. New Calibre 8RS, 42.5mm case. MSRP is $3,495. I would not be surprised if we will see some replicas of these soon. I like the style, even though it is not very TAG Heuer-like.. Without a badge, I would have guessed Glashutte or A.L Sohne. The style of the subdials, with a fixed hand and rotating disc seems odd... What do you guys think?

A replica of the non-chrono Aquatimer was out on Silix' page some days ago. Decent quality, two years ago I think we all would have been all over this one.. but today, this is no show stopper.. hxxp://www.watchsilix.com/product.asp?id=1931 It might not be a "Super rep".. White datewheel, wrong crowns, thin hands, badly applied lume.. But way better than any previous attempt I have seen, and with a rotating inner bezel. For 46 Euro it is very cheap. I am waiting for an Aquatimer in the Ingenieur- class..

I have this Carrera rep on my wrist as I type this... Magnificent rep, solid and well built! A dressy chrono, yet sportier than the BCE. I wonder, however, if the text and logo should be in the same color as the subdial rings? On the rep they are a darker shade of grey...

I suppose that two of the subdials can be moved by pushing the pusher buttons and that one of the subdials is a 24-hour dial, following the main time hands. On the same time, the running seconds hand is the long center seconds hand. This is the normal functions on the cheaper, mechanical Daytona replicas. Other cheap mechanical chronographs with "functional subdials" have day-date subdials, where the subdials are not chronograps, but are linked to the main time. On most of these these, the running seconds hand is also the long center hand (chrono seconds hand).
-
" all working subdials.." That normally means that the subdials moves and are not fixed in position. No chronograph on this one. The subdial spacing also looks a bit off for a 7750. Nice case and bezel though, a good buy if you are on a budget. I will add a note about this version to my BCE review.

Tag Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 quartz chronograph
chrgod replied to azerbyjam's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
Nice little review, I have also considered to buy this model for some time. Especially thanks for the movement pic! There seems to be two different versions of this new Indy. The one on Trustys webpage has a very thick white border around the TAG Heuer logo. This is what prevented me from buying this model earlier. The version on Silix' page looks better. The clasp is a little bit different on the gen. The recess where you put in your fingernail to lift the clasp is more rounded. Minor details, though... The white face model does look very good, but as far as I know, it is a fantasy model. There was a discussion on Timezone about the white faced Indy replicas. Some nice pictures in this thread as well. Timezone: "White faced Indy 500 CAC111A?" The genuine can sometimes be bought for just 500 USD. -
Vintage Explorer is a nice and understated Rolex. I believe that the case size is a bit off on the replicas. You might also check out Silix offerings. He is a bit cheaper than Trusty on these vintage pieces. http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1644

Guide to replacing the Asian 7750 with an ETA 7750
chrgod replied to ajoesmith's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
A good tutorial, which could well be pinned. Shame that it is only the old Chinese 7750 movement which is a straight swap with ETA. If I remember correctly, Ajoesmith also made an excellent tutorial for freezing the 6 o'clock subdial on Venus 175 copy movements. I has been very useful for me. Nice work! -
The Carrera Chronograph is one of the very best replicas out there. And also one of the best looking in my mind. There are quite a number of different versions of this watch. All replicas seems to be marked "CV2014", which is the serial number of the "Racing version", with red hands. Also, the date font is a bit off. Can be easily changed for an ETA-datewheel though. The latest replicas, like the one in the link, has a better decorated movement, even closer to the genuine.

The white Steelfish has been on my wrist the last days. Back on the bracelet.

stupid question....why has noone taken a venus (or copy) movement
chrgod replied to cableguy's topic in The Rolex Area
This is my 6263 replica with the ST-19 movement. (With fixed subdial@6 modification.) Absolutely a beautiful replica, with a heavy, solid feel.. No wobble from the rotor as on the 7750 replicas. The lack of rotor also makes for a low and comfortable case. A cool detail is that the case has an age-appropriate 1980-serial number. It is a very good buy for the 180-200 dollars. The subdial spacing is wrong, acording to the Daytona-replica experts. You can compare with the picture in the book below. Personally, I cant see anything. Daytona (rep) and Porsche 928.. Icons of the early 1980ties.. Beatutiful movement -
Nice watch. The ST-19 watches have a solid, heavy feel. Alpha is an old Swiss brand. I have seen some cool vintage watches with that logo. Guess some Asian businessmen have bought the rights to the label.. I would be a bit skeptical to the "Chronometer" statement on the dial though, but at least they do not say COSC !

Seems like there finally is a decent Anonimo replica out. Silix has just posted it in his section and on the webpage. Stylish watch, simple design.. Finally a new non-chrono rep which I like, nice 42mm size. The dial looks a bit like a Railmaster, while the hands reminds me of my Steelfish.. The original is based on the ETA-2824, while the replica has "Asian 2892". Good finish on the movement, and metal spacer.. Position of the date window looks a bit off, and the date font is the typical Asian one. Guess there will be an ETA or ETA-clone version of this soon. It looks like the orange version should have black hands, but that might just be the lightning. Note that on the pictures of the genuines, the second hand is different on the orange and the black versions. The replica uses the shorter seconds hand from the black version. These "Panerai spinoffs" have a great number of special editions, just like Panerai. They have some cool watches in their collection. Genuine. Replica Replica movement. ST-18 Genuine caseback. Replica caseback Genuine, on bracelet. Black replica

Nice watch! I got my white dial Asian Steelfish a week ago, and is stunned by the good looks of this heavy watch. I see that the date font is different on your BCE and the Steelfish? The BCE seems to have a more square ETA-type font, similar to that in my Asian-movement Steelfish.

Thanks for the excellent review. It is cool to see the more special watches reviewed. I have considered this watch, it is a "tool watch" and has a story behind it.. Too bad I quit golf ten years ago..

Test: IWC Aquatimer Cousteau Divers Chronograph
chrgod replied to Seadweller4000's topic in Other Watch Reviews
Really nice review. I can understand that many people prefer this version before the regular Aquatimer. I like the score-system! -
Ah... You have a sharp eye, I did not notice that. The Link and Carrera Chrono reps have both model and serial numbers, so it is strange that this new model don't have it... Still, one of the very few things that bugger me a bit about the excellent Carrera replicas is that all models have the "CV2014" model number of the "Racing-version", maybe it is just as well to have an uncluttered caseback..

Nice picture of the Steelfish. I recieved mine some days ago, and it is every bit the Super-rep I expected. It is hard to choose between blue, black or white dial. I chose white dial, think that fit well with the Breitling style. A nice touch about mine is that the B on the crown line up perfectly when the crown is screwd in. The two white brothers:

Seems like white SFSO's are hot this weekend Got back home yesterday. And this one was waiting for me. SuperOcean Steelfish, the Asian version. No AR, but with white dial the reflections are not very noticeable. Seems like I was lucky and got one with the correct ETA-datefont also. Looks sporty on a black rubber strap (gen.). Bracelet needs some final finishing before I will wear it. The dial is actually kind of "silvery white. Not the bright white I expected from photos, but quite nice actually. It adds an expensive look.

Ahh... My old TagHeuer Link review! Thanks for bumping this! My brother uses the watch almost every day, and is still very pleased with it. I borrowed it some months ago when I went to a job interview and needed a "subtle not-too-expensive quality watch" to go with a shirt. I have not got around to polish the bezel though, I actually think it looks a bit cleaner in all brushed steel.
-
They look different, but I somehow like them... The reps looks good. To me, I find it ok to mess around with the style of the Datejust, as it has been kind of a "fashion" model. I wish they had kept the Daytona and Air-King in peace though.
-
Quite amazing... Those close-up shots really shows the quality of the work!

Yep, the lume of my white BCE is also rather weak.
