  1. Thanks for the review! I am seriously considering getting a GMT-Master... But those off-center lugholes and the fat date font ruin the "retro-GMT" in my mind.
  2. A nice piece, beautiful finish on the movement... Interesting to see how the rotor assembly seems to fit like a "hat" over the rest of the movement! This is a chronometer grade watch, so I guess it is quite collectable.. I have a 6694, Oysterdate. These small, vintage "cheap" Rolex'es are quite good buys if you dont mind the small size. Thanks for posting!
  3. A very cool watch, and a great gesture from TT. Here is a picture of mine, with frozen 6 o'clock subdial.. It is a nice, heavy piece and has a geuine feel to it.
  4. Carrera for me. An old picture. I really like this watch, it has survived the initial "new watch love" and made its way into regular rotation. Not a box-queen
  5. It is a genuine which is bastardized as you mention. Not original crown, but most likely original hands. The Premier dial is not correct for a 808 Chronomat, and is most likely a redial. The Venus 175 movement though, seems to have the correct bridge for the model. This is what it most likely should look like. In original condition, it is a very desirable vintage Breitling. History and pictures of "The slide rule Chronomats": HERE Some specific information on the genuine Chronomat 808 can you find HERE Vintage Chronomats are of my favorite vintage watches, as you can see from the ad in my signature..." A dozen uses for hundred professions"
  6. The story with the boy who got 1000 Euro fine on his school got some press here in Norway last year... I posted it in this thread. Don't know if the boy parents managed to get the money back. The article tells that one of his friends managed to conceal his own fake Rollie by hiding it in his underpants! Inside in the newspaper, there is a pic of a genuine Yacht-Master and the posters in Firenze, warning against purchasing fakes..
  7. Seems like it is a Zero feedback seller? Those who actually buys a 5k watch from a new seller, with photos like in that ad..... Well, I cant feel sorry for them.
  8. Go for the white dial version, if you can find it. Very classy! Although it is not as silvery and "clean" as the genuine.
  9. Check out By-tors Daytona Guide. It should answer all your Daytona questions.
  10. A bit of smudge on the polished markers is a very common flaw on reps. Especially on the TAG Heuer Link and Carreras. The good thing is that is easy to uncase the watch and carefully polish the markers with a soft dry cloth. To me, this alone is not reason good enough to return a watch. Take a look at Edge and The Zigmeisters guides to uncase a watch, and I am sure you can fix this yourself!
  11. Ruby has the ultimate BCE for 259 shipped. Silix has it for about the same price. Great watch! Have a look at the Chronomat Evo review in my signature.
  12. The later Speedmasters are good buys, together with the vintage Constellations.. I picked up a Mark II Speedy for about 400 USD. This has the same quality movement as the Moonwatch. Classic early 70ties pillow shape case Some of the later ones have more complicated Lemania movements, not as durable as the original. But nevertheless desirable because of the many complications. The older Constellations from the 50-60ties, powered by the chronomater-graded 500-series movements, are also a pretty safe vintage buy! My bet is that you will never see replicas of these.. the market is very limited, and there are not any suitable movement to power ther reps.
  13. Velkommen back, Gunnar! For the best chrono.. I would say the Chronomat Evolution or maybe the new Blackbird, which are a bit different from all the stock 7750-based chronos out there.. The IWC 3717 is nice, but personally I would have preferred it without day, maybe even without date.. That would have been more in tune with the vintage looks. White Breitling Chronomat Evolution replica Breitling Blackbird
  14. Excellent pics of a beautiful watch! The engravings on the Bezel look very well done, better than on the SFSO and BCE... I just hope that they will soon fix the slightly offset pearl. this one is better than the others I have seen... I bet the croco leather strap is similar to the one I bought from Ruby some months ago. It feels very well made and as a true expensive strap. The sides are a tiny bit thicker than the gen.
  15. Hey! That looks nice! The good ETA-clone movement with cotes de Geneve-finish and proper brass-spacer! Thanks for the pics. I thought that the Asian Steelfish had a Miyota-copy movement? I have not opened up my SFSOs (from Ruby).
  16. Very very nice watch! I am glad they changed the 0001/2500 serial number from the prototype. Really prefer this style over the 2006 CDD. Have to think about either getting this or the new Blackbird..
  17. In the early 1980ties, about the time I started school, I got a Timex, classic analog quartz watch with a nice graduated blue dial... I think it might still be in some box at my parents home... I remember my fathers silver dial manual wind Omega Seamaster, which he got from his wife (my mother) in the early 60'ties... To bad it is lost at the moment.
  18. Whops.... Maybe I should change my user name to something more common....
  19. I remember seeing it in Narikaa's stock, far from "super-rep" quality. Seems like it is sold. Personally, I prefer the newer Breitlings..or the REAL vintage.. This model is neither... Kind of like the new Milgauss.... :/
  20. Nice work! Glad to know that the casebacks are interchangeable, if I ever were to buy a Speedy rep or gen.
  21. I have somehow ended up with three Carrera's, two of the CV2014 Racing version and one CV2010, black/Silver version... Nice watches, bought from a member here and from Ruby. The Carrera is kind of a dressy chronograph, with a rather thin bracelet. The CV2010 is very classy, reminds me of the Omega Speedmaster. The only minor flaws are the datewheel font ( which can be fixed by swapping to ETA-datewheel) and that the logo and Carrera automatic script is a bit too greyish. @2die4: If you are interested to buy the racing version, send me a pm. One has an ETA movement swap by The Zigmeister, the other has Asian mvt..
  22. A new Aerospace for 950 USD must be an excellent buy!! I have been looking for one for a year.. There is one "Repetiton minutes" on Timezone Sales corner for 1000 USD. Cheap compared to eBay prices.
  23. There are quite a few fake Breitlings on eBay.. Somehow the classy Navitimer seems to get the most attention. Guess there are enough idiots that hope to grab a bargain... hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160156481320 (700USD, with four hours to go! I feel sorry for the buyer..) hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/Breitling-Navitimer-Chronograph-Watch-HOT-HOT-HOT_W0QQitemZ140158609783QQihZ004QQcategoryZ31387QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZVi wItem
  24. Should be no problems, I have been traveling to Houston a couple of times. No problems when entering Norway either God tur!
