  1. Montbrilliant "Automic".... I like the style, though. Maybe I will jump on it if it comes a second version.
  2. Yep... The non-chrono Aquatimer is the one I am waiting for.... But at the moment the rep makers for some reason seem to concentrate only on chronographs... Silix, among others has a cheap version of this one though.
  3. There are quite a few Navitimer dials on eBay (not expensive), so I guess it should be easy possible to build a decent own 6-9-12 Navitimer by buying a dial, new datewheel and maybe a caseback. Navi dial on eBay Navi dial eBay 2 I dont know if the genuine caseback is straight fit on the rep, think there might be problems. A tempting project, though.. I regret I did not buy that genuine Breitling 7750, which sold for about 450 USD..
  4. Excellent and enjoyable post! Explorer II is an understated Rollie. When I worked offshore in the North Sea I saw two black dial Explorer IIs, on the wrists of high-paid directional drillers! Strangely it was the only Rolex model I noticed offshore.
  5. Congrats on loosing your virginity! The SMP was the watch which started it all for me! You have to have the chrono as well!
  6. I am not much into the MBW-stuff, but consider to buy one if they come down in price. Wonder about the new DRSD which appeared at silix' page some weeks ago, 170 USD, with ETA.. Is that the same watch as Angus/Josh advertise as MBW???? http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1910 It has the same slightly conical rehaut, but the crown guards and other stuff look good, at least to my untrained eyes...
  7. Very interesting, thanks for the info! I have noticed during the last months that several of the new offerings had 7750 movements with the old style balance [censored]. Guess they have a bunch of old parts to use, or maybe a new factory has been involved. On a side note, it is also interesting to see that the Chinese 7750 starts to turn up in "brand-watches", at least the Apogaum watches on eBay.
  8. Another good GMT replica is the Tag Heuer Link GMT, black or white dial. It looks like a nice watch, even though I have never seen any comments or reviews of it.
  9. Sure there is a genuine "Moonwatch" with shappire front glass and caseback. The movement is also slightly more decorated than in the regular Speedie. The version with display caseback is slightly more expensive than the regular. The tiny price difference on the used market is possibly because many enthusiast rather prefer the "authentic" plastic crystal on the regular model..
  10. I am thinking about the same.. The Carrera chrono would look good with AR! The original does not have it, as you say. On Timezone several owners are complaining about the glare.
  11. A very pretty watch. I have wondered whay they have not repped this earlier... Maybe because it beeing the cheapest Speedmaster, it does not have the same flair as the Broad Arrow or the original Speedie? Judging by the pictures, it seems like the Asian datefont is pretty close to the original. The "8" looks rounded like in the reps. Does Omega not use the ETA-datewheel in this one? Tood bad the number on the reps rotor seems to be incorrect. The calibre 3303 is the tri-compax movement used in the Broad Arrow model... I cant get that to fit with the calibre 1164 used in the Speedmaster Date.. But, of course this is nitpicking. By the way; It is not the first Omega rep with correct sub dial spacing. The Seamaster "Bond" chronograph uses the same basic 7750 layout.
  12. Looks great, especially the Breitling! I have not yet joined the AR crowd. Mostly just because I don't feel secure removing and reinstall the crystal.
  13. I like it, it looks like an "big expensive watch", even though MB have less brand recognition than other manufactures. But there are too many 7750 chronos in my watch drawer at the moment, so I will pass it.
  14. Thanks for the info, cool piece. This watch is growing on me... The modern design is very harmonic and good looking!
  15. Have you considered the non-chronograph Link replica? It is powered by ETA-2824/ 2836, same as the original. It is about 40mm and is very well made, with the comfortable Link-bracelet. It is a very close replica which has got little attention around here. It is also a very believable watch for a young guy. See the link to my review in my signature.
  16. ETA 2836 movement versus the Asian 7750... I would recommend the safer UPO, even though the 7750 might be reliable as well. Nevertheless, chronographs are always sexier!
  17. Just received a mail from Trusty, telling that the black and grey dial only is available from the cartel dealers, while the red dial is available for all dealers... I find the Porsche Design line watches way more attractive than the Ferrari watches from Panerai. The Porsche name is very discret compared to the glearing logo on the Panerais. According to Wikipedia the Porsche design watches started in 1973 in cooperation with Orfina, in 1978 they moved on to IWC and in 1996 Eterna. The Lemania 5100 moveement was also used. The old 7750 Orfina based PD watches from the 1970ties have a classic design. With the black case, they are the kind of "tool watch" that looks good even banged up.. They were popular with pilots and are actually quite attractively priced on eBay. Guess you could buy a vintage gen for about twice the price of the replica.. The quartz Porsche-IWC watches are also affordable... I suppose the very 80ties design doesn't appel to most collectors!
  18. Remember this watch was posted as "soon coming models" some months ago. It has finally hit the market. Seems like a decent replica, they have even made special day and date wheels! Specially made rotor also! The speck on the rotor and two crappy screw heads on the movement (!) does not look good though! Cool watch, I like the "Technical design". However, personally I feel a bit overwhelmed about the number of great 7750 replicas these days, and find it hard to be excited... At the end of the day, they are all the same... I will pass this one, but maybe recommend it for a friend.
  19. I have a similar problem with a Seagull-powered Daytona 6263. Does anyone know where to buy a new Seagull ST-19? I know this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the thread.
  20. At the moment I don't have either a Speedmaster or a Daytona, but here are some old shots: Seagull ST-19 powered Daytona 6263, very well made watch. Looks quite close for my eye.. I have never understood the "asymmetrical pushers issue" Vintage, 1972, Omega Speedmaster Mark II. Heavier style than the original Speedie, same movement.
  21. Great review, nice pictures also! I bought the white Seatimer, to have a watch to share with my girlfriend. Excellent watch, I love the electric blue hands. Black crown is not correct for the white dial version, but it does not concern me.
  22. It is a rep, from Ruby. Very well made, except that the double-fliplok clasp is rather stiff to use. Quite striking design, with a beautiful cutout for the date. I will make a review on this in some days. The Ballon Bleu is an unusual design for Cartier. Strange watch, but maybe it will become a classic as well.
