  1. I've finished enough bottles lately that i'm starting to feel like the bottles are finishing me. Merry Christmas, B!
  2. Its not a BK DSSD, though. Aside from the crooked print, this is a good example of what you get with Trevors 2010V5. Great watch for those that want a DSSD without the price tag the Noobs come with.. or the gen for that matter!
  3. I know, I think bigcrown wants hits on his youtube video or something.. but did you see the size of that [censored]' glass of scotch!
  4. nice looking Trevor 2010V5. Haven't seen any that had a perfectly centered date. The OGEV is crooked, Look how much lower it is starting at "original" compared to the placement of "Valve"
  5. I was given 4 brand new bottles of Crown Royal. I'm usually a vodka drinker, but I enjoy any good spirit. It could be the change in seasons, or my sinuses, but I've noticed that since drinking the crown, I've been very stuffed up and dizzy each time, the next day.
  6. A Crown Royal infused trip to Target at 4am. Crown Royal courtesy of myself, 4am shopping courtesy of my wife. Oh, the line? It was wrapped all the way around the super target store, parking lot, and down into the street. My wife decided to be lenient, we left and went to walmart, where all the tickets for the black Friday goodies had already been absconded with hours earlier.
  7. Three more people to add to my ever growing list of people I've got to work extra hard not to [censored] off. Thats a classic!

    Goodbye Siss

I'm sorry, Ken. I said a little prayer for her, you and your family. My grandmothers name was Rose. She also passed away from Cancer; may they both rest in peace.
  9. I knew it would happen. There I was sitting in Denny's, having breakfast with my wife and our niece when I looked down at my new DSSD and saw that the coronet was completely gone from the buckle. That was a few weeks ago. I got around to putting another one on from my parts bin, and wanted to share this easy little fix. I recommend you pop that thing off before it pops itself off. Once it's gone, they are hard to get. Lets get poppin'. With the coronet removed, mine as well break out the scotchbrite pad and touch up your clasp if need be. Heavily roughen/score a small area where you will reattach the crown, also the underside of the crown. Make sure the area is smaller than the crown so as to not leave any appearance of scratches. The clasp needs to be reattached using the strongest possible bonding material. Short of actual welding, there's cold weld, a bonding compound by Permatex (JB Weld might yield similar success, however it is not what I used). Mix up a dab of this two-part compound and dab some on the rough spot you made on the clasp. Make sure not to use so much that it oozes out from underneath the crown when you press it back into place. Align the crown and press it firmly in place for a minute or two. Make sure you look at an example so you know how to place the crown, the edge of which should be hanging off of the lip of the clasp. Let the compound cure for 24 hours to achieve full strength. There you have it. Still try not to molest the little crown anymore than necessary when disengaging the flip lock clasp, will yah?
  10. I had a tough time with Trevor too, with my recent DSSD purchase. Communication and website need some work. In the end, he offered to make things right with me. That Carrera is absolutely beautiful.
  11. The watch has been reviewed in depth a few times now since it's showed up on the scene with gusto. I will post some pics, give my impressions, and provide some observations hopefully without repeating whats already been said. DSSD 2010V5, clone ETA I like the Rolex Deep Sea. Since slapping its meaty self upon us at Baselworld 2008, it slowly grew on me. I'm not quite ready to drop $8K on the gen, nor was I even interested in keeping up with the Jones's at $450 a pop with V1-2-3-4-5 add infinitum. Trevor has a version known as the 2010V5 that hits all of the major notes, for about $260. I bit. The watch is substantial. This is the Rolex for guys that prefer Panerai and breitling. This particular version, at least my particular piece, has a nice fit and finish. Perfectly fit end links between the lugs, firm bezel action, and a quality bracelet. The steel is obviously brighter next to say, a noobmariner. There is a visual difference. Dial print is fairly well done. The date is not perfectly centered, however most of my pictures don't do it justice as it is only off to the right slightly, not low or high as some pictures make it out to be (like the next one below). The lume is decent. It glows the proper color, hands match the hour markers, however they have a gloss finish as apposed to the matte finish on the gen. The bezel is executed very well. Most people complain about the flat pearl, but it would take a close look by a trained eye to spot, and is very easy to mod. The print on the OGEV/RLS does not appear heavy as some have mentioned, my particular example is well done. The surface which it is printed on could be finished better. Rehaut engravings are not excessively deep, and would take a very up close look by a scrutinizing individual to ascertain any inconsistencies, mainly due to the convex crystal. Nice attention to detail throughout. The caseback although two-piece, is not titanium. Whatever the coating is, needs to be taken care of and may need to be refinished eventually somehow. The HEV valve presses inwards and will require silicone sealing if you are on the road towards waterproofing this model. The bracelet is well done but it's more complicated design poses some inherent risks for trouble. My divers extension needed the attention of two wrenches in order to prevent unwanted deployment. The screw heads are not quite precision grade, however I had no problems with them being cross threaded. Overall I am confident that the bracelet is something that will hold up. It appears to be well crafted. The etchings are good (8/10), the Rolex insignia itself could use a darker shade of black paint (easy fix). The movement is losing 7-9 seconds per day. My particular piece failed a 5ATM pressure test, the crystal although seated flush, was the source of the problem. I really had hoped this piece in particular would be swimming pool ready, but out of the box it is not. That is all I have for now. This is an excellent DSSD, as good as any available as of this review. With any rep you take the good with the bad, the DSSD's are of course no different. Decide which flaws bother you the most, compare what is available, and choose an example that has the least of them. I have some unresolved problems with Trevor in regards to this watch, due to it requiring repair beyond my capabilities on arrival. I am not endorsing him as a dealer, just reviewing the watch. I want to be clear that he did offer to repair the watch if I sent it back, I however chose to have it repaired myself for my own convenience and sanity (which I stated prior to him offering to repair/refund). His after sales support have been sub-par in my personal opinion. Please read his review section and make your own determinations. If things are resolved with regards to this transaction, this paragraph will be updated to reflect any positive/negative changes. Thanks for looking! Questions/comments are welcomed.
  12. The difficulty parting with any watch in my collection puts some perspective on things for me, in a good way. I just can't do it tonight. You guys posting more than one watch are cheating the question a bit!
  13. The grey dial is a nice change! a rep bracelet is inexpensive enough, and a direct fit, why not throw it in the mix and see if you like it enough to hassle with the gen?

    TGIF

I have that whole book of postcards, they are hysterical. This one is on my fridge, I was going to send it to a friend and haven't got around to it.
  15. No way! i'm not irate. It's true. They are a simple watch, that is part of the beauty of the brand. You guys are probably top tier in regards to scrutiny of flaws, if not 2nd to the Rolex guys. Thats fine, thats why we are here, no worries. Would you deny me that truth though? It's possible that so many have come and gone on this project because of the overwhelming scrutiny and seemingly impossible to please attitude of many of us, at times myself included. I guess thats all i'm saying. Read back at some of the reasons not to. They are two little pieces of metal, my brother in law is designing and manufacturing roller coasters for crying out loud; man is capable of a great deal more. Maybe i'm completely off base, definitely erratic, so forgive me.
  16. You pam guys... I've never seen such a simple, plain watch be scrutinized and dissected to bloody anal hell. I could probably 1:1 a CG & lever (my brother in law just so happens to work in a metal production shop with all the trimmings..). You guys still wouldn't be happy. Thats the thing with repsti's, you're worse than the Rolex guys. The short of it, is there's too many reasons not to do this. The negativity and the never good enough attitudes surrounding Pam reps is enough to drive anyone away from touching this. Who are you trying to fool when 99.9% of the population either doesn't know the brand or if they do, are already fooled? Are you afraid some wristi is out there walking around with a micrometer ready to snatch up your wrist for examination? The ironic part is, these are two of the most SIMPLE pieces of metal I've ever seen when you consider how much more elaborate items can be created of its size or smaller. Hell look at a watch movement. I hope you guys get your CG's, I truly do. But in the meantime I hope you enjoy what you've got. Remember that someone here was once told "Stick to gens, no rep will ever make you happy." and ask yourself if you've become that guy, like so many people around here have lately.
