  1. That honestly looks greatly suited for her wrist. I like the dial combination, but if she changes it up, then it will be cool to see the transformation.
  2. Got it. Thanks Tom, and thanks ubi for the visuals. By the way, I've been wearing my coveted Ubi Nardin for almost an entire week (I usually switch quite often throughout the week). If the mailman is good to me tomorrow, the cycle might finally get broken. /thread jacking- sorry MP!
  3. Ubi, both watches in your sig are powered by el primero? I understand its requirement for subdial spacing, but I dont understand how the movement works in both with the different pusher locations on the case. What am I missing?
  4. hmm.. those guards are similarly pointy. I believe he/she stated that they had a watch smith change the crystal because the old one was all scratched up, but they still have the old one. Looks like that prototype has some engraving on the caseback, possibly with a he valve on the case, a slightly different version.
  5. I usually talk to a few dealers to see who's the most feisty about helping me when i'm ready for something. No one is perfect. Only so many bridges to GZ, why burn one, especially one thats been a landmark? Josh is pretty good about getting parts that some of our dealers do not have access to, or simply won't deal with. I respect your opinion and right to post it, but writing him off aloud like that isn't beneficial to either of you. oh, I thought you meant from me. Of course he's not the one taking the pictures. Josh is a little on the expensive side, but he also has one of the best websites that takes direct CC payment, he has excellent communication, and very fast service. All of the trusted dealers prices are pretty close to retail in GZ. There have been many posts by members who have visited GZ, and confirmed that the prices we pay are fairly close to the going rates in the markets.
  6. "effects our relationship" is how it was worded in my email. Were you saying that comment was not necessary from me, or of him saying it in the email?
  7. andygt has them rehosted on (I dont know what your politically correct names are between the two, so lets say) "the other RWG". So then, Andy I hope you don't mind-

    I'm Bored!

This thread is colder than Nanuq's chilly willy stuck in an igloo. Dustier than KB's nuts, which.. by the way, who won that auction? Nanuq?
  9. Got the same message with my QC pics on a recent watch. Ladies (mid) Bvlgari Assioma chrono. I agree with maxman, that the forums are inclined to be somewhat overzealous about flaws (if you can even call them that). But to suggest it may "damage our relationship"? Josh, c'mon.. If it weren't for KB and I, who else would've got you to post right here that you have uneven sized nuts! Thats a bond that cannot be broken! (classic!) Anyway, quick story about Josh's new QC thing. Wifes birthday watch (todays her Bday). Trevor promised me a discount on the watch due to a previous order issue. I emailed him about a month ago(trevor), telling him I was ready, and I needed it by such and such a date. It took Trevor 18 days to reply to my first email. Thats one thing about Josh, he doesnt drop off the map (even if one ball dropped lower than the other) . I needed this watch done, shipped, and in my hands. It had been a while but with the new QC thing going on, I gave him a call (email). He emails me right back, QC pics the next day, watch is in my hands in a week from the first email. Color me pleased.
  10. hxxp://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=160988&page=1 replace the two x's in the hxxp to t's. I agree the pointy looking cg's look s little weird, and the crown position sits low from the bezel. However, I am not an authority.. Interested to see what you guys make of it.
  11. 42 or 45mm version? If its a 42, the lack of a coin edge bezel would be a dead giveaway.
  12. +1. Always hard to watch a hard earned brand name fall from greatness. You decide whether to blame Ford for screwing it up prior to selling jag & LR to Tata motors in 2008, or Tata themselves. I'll tell you one thing. One quick glance at tatamotors.com at least proves the final nail was hammered to death. Are they running a wildlife sanctuary? Are they loving and hugging baby seals? Or manufacturing (what were once) hardcore off road vehicles and world class touring cars? $#ck social responsibility, they are not running for senate, and there is nothing globally compact about building SUV's. How about responsibility to growing a set for Rover, so that Rover can be a Rover again. Any "commitment to environmental standards and compliance with lessening global impact", directly impacts the ability of their product to perform its fundamental job. If I were in the market for a $80K SUV, I'd rather see a commitment to space age carbon composite reinforced blower belts and suspension systems re-engineered to clear obstacles larger than a pebble, than hear about spa days for dirty little orphaned hampsters.
  13. the test can't hurt the watch. worst case scenario is you learn the watch is not waterproof.
  14. what is the likelihood that replacement DG4813's from Ofrei and the like will drop in, without the old tales of woe regarding, what was it.. canon pinion being too short? I'd love to try one of these out, but there is a big jump from 150 for 4813 to 275 for clone ETA (ive factored $25 on top of thelisted price for EMS shipping). Those prices are make or break, respectively. Knowing the 4813 model has the ability to be repaired, with a cheap engine swap, would be good.
  15. P4GTR, hope he comes back again. Thats one cool cat! Lani, RobbieG, UncleJay, toadtorrent.. And to break up the sausage fest- Ms. Understood & Victoria.
  16. Looks like we got wimpie to show us his boobs afterall! Hey Hack we make good wingmen, buddy! SCORE! Glad to see you got all the bells and whistles under the hood Wimpie. Again, great watch.
  17. God, I love the Skyland. That looks perfect! The lume dots look excellent, too. I can appreciate your apprehension to opening the back, but it's something you should probably consider. You're not new, so i'm surprised with your answer? Forgive, since you probably know this, but just in case you don't i'd rather tell you then see something bad happen to your babies. A lot of times, they come loose from the factory, so you will want to check that its screwed down nice and tight, but before you do that, mine as well check that there is an o-ring installed. A little inspection that theres no pubes, or bolts rolling around freely is also not a bad idea (both have happened!). Theres such variation with movements that it is nice to confirm what you have under the hood. For instance, on this, I would want to know if there was a decorated movement and a micro adjust lever. A quick look without touching anything is close to impossible to cause any problems. You probably do this already and have some valid reason why you said you aren't doing it yet with this piece, and i've wasted my breath... hahaha
  18. Man, what a find BT, sometimes you seem like my alter E-go. I wouldn't have done what I did today, literally (tearing down and re-soddering some connections on a laptop motherboard) if I didn't have a C64 given to me for xmas when I was like 6 years old. My greatest acheivement with the C64, was with my dad... Again, I was like 6. We must've played all day long, took a photo of the screen after we met the record score, developed the film and mailed the picture. In return, we have the patch. I still have it and it must've been just a day or two ago when I saw it and had a little laugh, then told my wife "this is one of my prized possessions."
  19. I bet this isn't the first time he's "scored" something using the 'ol Daytona pull. That new spring looks burly. It's the little things like this that I love! "Big transformation happen from small artful steps." Nice Spyderco in your avi, btw. I'm a big fan. Got the new Endura in foliage green and loving the upgrades to the model. (Another hobby for another place, or at least thread)
  20. Merry Christmas to you as well, Rolli. Merry Christmas RWG!
  21. Been wearing the 'ol swissfish for about two weeks straight!
  22. Oh my my. Sorry to requote your pics, but I think they were necessary. If a $20 bottle of Penfolds tastes as good as it does, I can only imagine. The clowns have money but no taste; sheeple that made it. Tonight, Crown Royal, neat. I happened upon four free bottles.
  23. Absolutely no way, that author is retarded. Not only are watches still practical (as Carl pointed out), they are also one of the few pieces of mens fashion that withstand the test of time. They might get a little bigger, or a little smaller- but they're one of the few pieces of Jewelry left for men to express their style with. And like Nanuq, we'll be the only ones that know what time it is if we ever wind up off the grid, i.e. some sort've EMP gets deployed, or worse. Me and nine of my closest peeps (I only have a 10 slot watchbox) will be sporting automatics.. on our wrists, and slung across our back. (breath P4GTR..) I like having a phone on me, and my ipod is great, but am I the only one thats a little tech'd-out? Sometimes being constantly connected isn't a good thing. /Rant
