  1. Here's my genuine for comparison sake
  2. So much whiteness.... *puts on some James Brown to feel better* Just kidding, that is classy man, you could flow well in Montauk.
  3. Thank you my wise friend, and yes it's not often we get to sit there for a few minutes and actively stare at someone's watch...would be quite rude. Kind of the enabling point of the entire rep/franken community haha. I didn't even know it had a date function. The damn things are too busy for me. Hurts my eyes haha. I'm a simple man, with simple tastes. Give me a classic AP Royal Oak, Datejust, Sub, PP Calatrava or similar and I'm a happy camper. I did recently get a Daytona, which is kind of a leap for me. Even my Zenith with it's "open escapement" feature seems a bit busy to me. But I love it.
  4. lol. I'll second that. Yes you do have to go one step further... just going with my gut, Asian clone of an ETA is my bet. But let's see?
  5. I don't know enough RM to weigh-in on gen.vs.fake but I do know they carry an outrageous price-tag and a certain "douche-factor;" I would immediately assume any "average Joe" seen wearing one is likely wearing a fake. Same thing goes for the 22 year old at the Audi dealer that was talking to me about a car, noticed my Maranez and said "hey that's a cool watch" - it's a $300 watch... he had on a $50-$60k Rolex Platinum Daytona, 116506. Judging by how he carried himself, his suit, and that he was 22 it's probably a fake. That's just my assumption and a general rule of how I decide these things. Had he been a well-heeled young man raised with money and all the accouterments such a lifestyle affords, he wouldn't have carried himself like a thug "This car is siiiiick bro" or been wearing a $150 Jos. A. Bank suit, red shirt, and tie that cost less than my socks. Point is, if one cares about pulling off a high-end rep then it is all about how you carry yourself and measuring that watch with your demeanor and background. Most people can't tell the difference, so the force is typically with you.
  6. Anytime, you're welcome and welcome to the forum!
  7. Look at the pictures of the movement, the inner workings/mechanism of the watch, compare it with the genuine. Did you see the link and photo I shared? That is what you want and that is what is closest. We are moving away from plain/simple undecorated movements - getting closer to genuine. You sound like you have a lot more research to do - or you could opt to buy the watch I showed you and enjoy it immensely. Either way. Good luck. You want reviews do some more reading and searching on here.
  8. Yes they are a TD - and if you look at both you posted and compare to mine you will see yours lack movement decoration, it's an easy tell. They are also too fat. The genuine is 9.8mm and the one from PureTime gets you closer to that at 10.5mm - Also don't over pay for something anyone claims is Swiss ETA, it won't be. 9. Hi All, This is what stops me from buying a Panerai rep - the new movements while relatively close feature these god awful pink/purple jewels instead of the correct ruby red. It can't be that hard or expensive to get the correct color can it? Anyone have a fix for this?
  10. http://puretime01.com/watch-brands/audemars-piguet/royal-oak/royal-oak-41mm-15400-ss-jf-11-best-edition-blue-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a3120.html
  11. I lust after the 275 GTB 4 cam. One of the sexiest cars ever built, and I agree - quartz watches are only useful because they're accurate and don't need a winder, but if it's a rep of an automatic and it doesn't tick...then hmm.
  12. Unlikely. I've only seen mediocre $250 reps of this piece. Even if they claim it's Swiss ETA it's probably a clone, even at a higher price. Getting ETA movements is super hard these days, in any scale whatsoever. A genuine 2824-2 on eBay is around $250 from a reputable seller...
  13. That watch must drop jaws and panties.
  14. You're both absolutely right. eBay suuuuucks so bad. They should hire actual marketplace-connoisseurs to vet listings, but it will only catch the most flagrant offenders, like this clown. His emails are viciously hilarious. He's absolutely determined to win. I had a genuine expert in the marketplace (based off detailed pics) offer me $17,000 for a gilt 5513 Franken. So I can only imagine what junk is passing through hands on eBay. Pretty wild.
  15. I love all you guys. Seriously this thread and the helpfulness is another shining example of how amazing this board is.
  16. All but gen 5513 for my Monday
  17. I reported it as well. I mean come on, that's just f'in flagrant. Worst rep YM I've ever seen. Bar none.
  18. Many thanks! I appreciate it. My only complaint is the end-links at the watch head are crap. I need better ones, contemplating ordering originals. My dad lost the original bracelet probably 30 years ago. Switched it up! Maranez Layan green dial, bronze case, custom horween strap from california
  19. It's from Yuki, the watch is genuine - all you'll have to do is mill out the left (facing) side of the date window a little bit.
  20. Classic DJ! Love it. Linen dial requires Linen suit
