  1. Rolexman are you a watchmaker, hobbiest or both?

Depends on how you define watchmaker? I worked on and serviced hundreds of movements ranging from ETA, Sellita, Lemania, seagull and all kind of Manufacture (in-house) movements. I have a stock of 10.000 plus parts and own all kind of fancy equipment. I have acces to more than milion parts through my local supplier. Watch making however is not my daytime job nor do I offer my services through this board.

What's different about the V2? Crown stem?

    Also updated engravings and finishing.

Reading the description, the "superclone" is still a Asian 2836-2 movement that has parts added to make it look like a 3135 ?

Please read carefully. This is NOT a decorated eta. We are talking about a direct copy of the 3135 or a 'true' clone like you call it. Other wise there would be no point reviewing it ;)

My review will mainly be focused on quality, finishing and reliability. If people can point out visual differences like the balance regulator arm that is fine but that won't be my point of focus. I also will not be comparing it to a gen 3135 as I don't have one in my possession. But in case something breaks along the line I will test if it takes gen 3135 parts :p...

  2. Old topic t!tle: "FREE service for new 3135 clone movement"

    >>>>>>>>See EDIT below the line in this post<<<<<<<<<<<<

I just saw that the new 3135 clone is out.

I will do a full tear-down and service for the first RWG member with 500+ posts to shoot me a PM. I will do a complete and extensive review and pictorial here at RWG in the Rolex section. Not just a photo shoot but a full blown technical evaluation.

Let me know if someone is interested. This offer stands till 31-12 and the watch must be in my possession before the end of January. Note the offer only applies for the improved v2 version (nobody want's to see old stuff :D)

    Friends and veterans are preferred!

    --------------------------------------

OFFER RETRACTED, ANGUS HIMSELF IS SENDING ME ONE TO TEAR APART. STAY TUNED :D

    Note:

If you guys are interested in a genuine 3135 comparison please send me one. I will tear it apart and service it along the way. I can also test interchangeability.

  3. So to start of. This is not a dealer rant or a dealer endorsement. Just want to translate some recent events and experiences to some business and consumer logics...

As a long time and loyal customer of Andrew I bought literally hundreds of reps from him. Dating way back to 04/05 in the early days of RWG I. Communication, delivery and after sales are always perfect....and the price more or less at market standard. So no reason to switch dealers right?

Well I did. Over the years, like every other consumer, I now and than get persuaded by some deals that seem to good to be true. Let's call them " crazy sales". Great watches for cheap @ss dollars...

My first 'adultery' was with Paul (who remembers Abay Paul :D)... We all know how that ended. He collected a lot of payments and in the end he was not able to meet the demand. Resulting in members paying for something they never received. I being one of them...

Flash forward some years and there is PresigeWatchCo (aka Robert). Again some great watches for really steep prices. I fell for it. This guy got me so mad I almost committed a replica sin and filed a PayPal dispute. You can find the thread here somewhere. I eventually got the watch but the saving didn't compensate for all the trouble and head ache.....

So, now once again I saw Toro's crazy x-mas sales. Like a sucker I fell for it....again. I ordered two watches one hour after he uploaded the watches and than the madness began. Payment info followed very quickly (as always). After payment almost dead silence. Received some QC pics of one watch after some time and after much persistence got some info on the second. Apparently all 80 pieces were sold out (really?...that fast?) and I was next in line. Communication stopped after that. No tracking, shipping info, delivery estimation of the second watch... Nada.

I do believe Toro will come through but the moral of the story: Yeah some dealers don't do crazy sales but man do they offer service!!! I hope I have learned my lesson this time...

    :peace: Mark

  4. I have an Rolex Explorer with automatic ETA clone which I NEVER take off. Not when I work in the garden, go golfing, swimming etc. I fully overhauled it some time ago and I use it as my daily beater to see if I can break it by normal but heavy use.... Still running strong. Not need for a quartz ;)

  5. Sounds like dirt in the gear train. Basically everything spins free because the balance swings like it should right? The train only needs tremendous force [you turning the crown at full wind] to get everything moving.... Or maybe the balance' end shake? Something is putting extra drag on the train or balance if you ask me. Have it looked at.

  6. Swiss/Asian 2824 & 2836

    PO/UPO - Swiss & Asian 2824

    2531 - Swiss 2824

    2254 - Swiss 2824

    2255 - Swiss & Asian 2824

    GMT - Swiss 2824

    2541 - Asian 2824

This list is making me quite sad as all of these gems are on someone else's wrist :(

    Nice list.

When switching dials it all depends on how much difference in thickness there is. There is a slight tolerance in the stem hole in the case. But I recently switched out a gen Constellation dial and an increase of 0.4mm was enough for the stem to not lign up anymore.

  7. Now if I would install the gen dial on an ETA 2824-2, which has les hight as an 2836-2 will this solve the hight problem?
No... I understand the way you think but if your dial is thicker your stem position will come closer towards the case back. So you can compensate the total thickness with a thinner movement in order to still get the case back on and letting the rotor spin free. But you will have problems with your stem alignment.
  8. the construction of some A6497 is not as precise as the ETA so it's possible for the click to get stuck or damaged when you overwind. .

It's impossible for the click wheel to get stuck, let alone damaged. It's design makes sure the ratchet wheel can always turn clock wise. That's what happens when you (over)wind. The only thing that can happen is that either the teeth of the crown or ratchet wheel break when forcing by fully wound. But in my opinion the bridle will break first as the contact point holding the main springs tension is the smallest at that spot.

  9. they snap back so violently they sometimes snap the oscalating pinnion and the chronos stop function..

Absolutely none sense. The osicilation pinion can't be engaged when the chrono cam is in reset mode. Therefor resetting does not influence it any way.

The movement is reliable except for the extra aded second transfer gears (to transfer the seconds from 9 to 12). There are some tricks to make this modification reliable though.

  10. I just serviced a 7750 that had the same exact problem it was super dirty and the oscalating pinnion was broken. In your case that what seems to be the problem. What the oscalating pinnion does is when you press the chrono start button it slides over to produce power to the chronos second hand. It runs constantly when not powering the chrono hand so It might be out of place or broken.

This movement does not have an oscillating pinion. Probably debree getting jammed between some gears somewhere (second transfer gear perhaps?). Your movement looks as dirty as the bottom of my shoe... Here's a 7734 I recently serviced and how it is supposed to look!
