@godkiller Yes a crown is next on the list....and a new mid case. The bezel doesn't fit as tight to the case as I would like it to so I am going to keep my eyes peeled for something that is closer to gen spec This watch runs on a dg 2813 but yes it would be awesome to have 2 positions only.

I got them from WSO on Ebay. I have had these parts in my shopping cart for ever, got side tracked with my 6542 and 1019 builds and now that those are done I figured it was time to get this one done. I sure am glad that I did. It really transforms the look of this piece. The way the Crystal and gasket really make it stand out from any DJ because of how proud it sits from the bezel . At first glance..it looks wrong. it looks like the crystal isnt seated all the way or its falling out...but when you compare it Gen that's how it is.. Gen examples. Thank you !! Comparing the two...Mine does look like it could be pushed in a bit more. Ill wait till my new press arrives..

So I swapped the bezel and crystal today on my Explorer and wow what a difference. It gives it a different look and feel and looks proper now. Before with the factory bezel and crystal After the slimmer bezel , thicker gasket and new crystal. My crystal press sucks and I didn’t want to wait for my new one to arrive I made it work. I don’t know if I have the crystal seated completely but it’s not loose and has stayed in with movement so it should be okay until the new press arrives I really like the taller look of the crystal and has a gen look now compared to pics online. I am very happy with this piece now and it will be getting a lot more wrist time now. [emoji482]

I finally ordered a crystal and bezel for my piece it arrived earlier this week I am going to install it tomrmow and I will post some updated pics of my explorer Here is a before pic. @godkiller Did you ever get a new crystal and your explorer all sorted out?

That looks sharp....Nice work to everyone involved. Do you have a drill press? using a sanding drum bring the drum flush to the drill press surface and set the drill press to the slowest setting. gently bring the edge of the crystal to the edge of the drum and rotate it with your hands...I did this once a 1655 build and it worked pretty well . do one rotation, check it. another , check....patience is the name of the game.

I reached out to a few sellers on Ebay and one of them responded. He has both a 2914 seamaster PAF and a 135.004 Railmaster. Waiting on the pics for the railmaster but he sent me pics of the PAF . Complete watch includes 2914 serviced movement . Rep everything else . Other than it looking too new....what you guys think?> I am not an expert on Omegas but the vintage ones interest me so I am starting to pay closer attention.

Rolex 1019 Milgauss... One of the most difficult Rolex to get !!!!!
JSebWC replied to rolojack's topic in The Rolex Area
I got mine off EBay. Asian seller I see one on there right now for $250.00 who knows if it’s Gen of a copy like mine. $250 for a sticker. !! Mine was under $20.00 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Quite possibly. But yet they make reps of lesser brands. [emoji848] I would snap up. Trilogy set of they put one out. I really want a vintage 2914 rail master but just trying to find a 38mm case. I don’t mind working it a bit. I can source dial and hands movement and crown. Just stuck on the case and bezel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the tips. [emoji1362]. I thought it was more valuable because it was missing parts. It still runs and we can cut out the middle man ( Christie’s auctions) and deal directly. Unmarked small bills please. [emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Funny. Was thinking about this today also during lunch. I think most go sit in safes and very private collections. Then they are appraised and insured to the max!! If they appreciate. The. It’s a win. If they loose value. Then maybe they are a right off on their taxes and if the bubble pops. They go missing and receive an insurance payout. Win win win when you’re rolling in the dough. [emoji383][emoji383][emoji383][emoji383] Yes. It’s a generational thing. A lot of people wonder if the next generation will have appreciation for these items. Most likely not so I can’t imagine the market and bubble holding out for more than 10 years Probably a lot less. When you got more money than you know what to do with. You gotta “ hide “ it somewhere. Not that I would know anything about those kinds of problems. I do however have a gmt master without a bezel and a property fitting brown nato. It will hold me until I save my pennies for the next 6538 to come up to auction. [emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was inspired. I know there is. No profiteering rule but I can’t help that if I pop the bezel and put it on a brown nato. It’s suddenly worth big money. I’m a hard working fella. Should be at least 500 grand !!? [emoji383][emoji383][emoji383] [emoji38][emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yup...on the underside you will need to pry apart the folded link portion. Rolex has a tool to do this but I used a flat head screwdriver be careful not to slip and stab yourself. also be careful not to bend it too much or you will crimp the front side of the link open it enough to slip it out and then use some tape and plyers to press the link back down. I did this to add a link to mine..I am blessed with big wrists.

Okay.....soo much for leaving well enough alone. The bezel needed tweaking. The one that JMB made for this case was too thick. This is what I looked like when I got it.\ I did not measure it but I am guessing it was probably close to 3mm thick. When I sent the watch to Tripdog. He shaved down the thickness a fair bit but to me it wasn't enough He felt that if I was to do any more it would not hold the crystal in place. so he stopped while he was ahead. for the last few weeks I have been using a 1655 bezel that I sanded smooth. I like the profile and height of the bezel but the diameter is just too big. The beze on the 1019 fits tight to the case sides and the 1655 bezel sat proud of the case ever soo slightly. Its ever so slight but because it was a little bit of a loose fit and catching the lip and losing the bezel was a possibility. As I do not have a milling machine I could not shave down this bezel so I was back to the JMB bezel . This morning I decided to sand down the thickness of the JMB bezel from 2.6 mm to 1.9mm and because it is flush with the case it is now the ideal fit for the case. It is a bit loose to the new crystal I am not as concerned that it will come loose but I added a few dial dots to secure it in place. Here are a few new pics of the final fit of the JMB bezel. it has a GEN fit and look now and that I am happy with!! Gen for comparison : Mine could be shaved down another 10th mm but for now Its good! And NOW!! I am considering this build 99% done. I do want to eventually swap out a crown but that I will worry about down the road. I will now consider this piece done and I will enjoy the hell out of it a 95% accurate Milgauss 1019 for a 30th of the price of a Gen model. How could I not love it!! Thanks for joining me on this journey. Whats my next build?? well you will have to tune in next time and follow along!!

I didnt know that about you before But I know now!! Holy crap that turned out fantastic!! Great work....love it!!

Nicely done!! The bezel and crystal will be the icing on the cake. Checked Ruby and she doesnt have just the bezel on her site...but a case set and even so, it would need work bezel is close to a mk3 Yuki is the small thick font which is more suited to the mk1 straight hand or the fornitura
