  1. NICE!!! I see the new piece arrived and it looks fantastic. Big congrats on that one...and a great score for the collection. The funny thing is...in spite of being gen, we know it will be another piece going to the The Zigmeister Spa when the time is right! You're already living strong...and you're already wearing it well!!
  2. Nice pic! I see you are definitely going to find yourself in good company here. Welcome aboard.
  3. Nice piece. The lume on those is great...as are the display backs. I wished reps were able to take Seiko movements!
  4. I think the current batch are interesting looking...but not something I would see myself wearing for any length of time. It seems more fad-ish and too garish to me. I agree...the MMD is a much nicer piece. I find the rubber straps a bit too busy with the metal inserts. As a design piece...I think they are more interesting than an actual watch to wear.
  5. From your local UN AD...it's RobbieG's pic of his Gen UN MMD.
  6. The article below: The Watches of Obama ...gives the link to the company: Jorg Gray Catalogue Link that gives the pricing info.
  7. Interesting. I couldn't find anything before on it...using my bad search strings. As soon as I added in "Secret Service"...suddenly I find an interesting article: The Watches of Obama If the article is correct, the watch is made in China...just like our reps. Hah hah.
  8. Oh yeah...they'll take you're money...they will register your order...but nothing will happen on the fulfillment end for a few weeks. That's the way it works.
  9. I just saw a couple pics in the newspaper (print only) and you can see the side of the watch under the cuff...and one in his tux. It's a chrono of some sort.
  10. Woohoo!! Now what watch was Obama wearing at the Presidential inauguration dinner???
  11. Hey...no sweat...glad to help. I have a review of the 2006 CD (my fave of the line and linked in my signature)...and Lani just posted a review of his 2008...and The Zigmeisterzumba just re-posted pics of his lume job on my 2006 CD. You can use these threads as reference points to compare the watches. Watcheden is an apprentice collector here...so you'll be fine dealing with him. You won't lose your money...and what is pictured is what you'll get. You can also likely email Silix who might have what you want...or pretty much any of the other collectors...but from what I can gather, watcheden has a lot of the lower end reps which are lower priced. I've never used Watcheden...but I think TeeJay has...you can search for reviews of him.
  12. For this piece you generally have to go "outside" of the regular dealers. Watcheden has them. Bear in mind...they look "alright"...but they are nowhere near the same degree of accuracy as the A7750 counterparts which are 3x the price. I have yet to see a quartz CD with the proper caseback...the font on the inner rotating bezel is generally crap...and the subdial layout is usually screwed up because they aren't using proper chrono movements sometimes...or the look of the subdials is wrong. They will say they use the same dial and case...but it's not quite true. The case may be the same...but the dials are definitely different...and the casebacks aren't matched properly.
  13. Heh heh...now that we FINALLY have consensus...what say we re-start a collaborative RWG project?
  14. USED TO??? I'm still a catalogue junky. I have a rather large collection of catalogues...very large...many boxes worth going back many years. Not just watches...but other stuff as well. Agreed. I find a lot of the designs of things like "Fossil", "Swiss Army/Victorinox" etc...are making affordable implementations of pieces really inspired by watches of GREAT design. So...with the availability of reps...why not just get the watch with that GREAT design instead of settling for something that really is lacking IMHO. In this case...I think going for some of the alternatives below are much nicer implementations of the inspiration BEHIND the Victorinox: There's a red/black "panda" dial as well that's closer in design Schumacher Speedy
  15. Is that a gloss bezel insert and dial (as opposed to anodized metal look found in the Watcheden pics) and the other standard TT blue Sub???
  16. Along the same theme...I like my Spitfire for dress...or a fantasy A. Lange & Sohne for $100.
  17. I couldn't tell the Arabic number font/existence in the pic...or the datewheel position (if any)...but the subdial spacing and location looks similar, as well as the bracelet...but the bezel looks beveled or notched in the pics...so I'm not sure. The Formula 1 is possible...but no black subdials and the one at 6 looks too low below the cannon pinion:
  18. I've never thought much of the quartz version of your panda Discovery as the subdial spacing looks so squishy and really aesthetically out of proportion for my eyes...but the BTR looks fine in my opinion...and that yellow black one of yours looks great. Do you still have it?
  19. The red/black you're probably thinking is like an Omega Schumacher...but that dial config is @ 3-6-9...this is like 2-10 and just under the cannon pinion. The same goes for the Tudor's. The Ferrari chrono is red sub and black dial...with the same config as the standard Omega speedy. I've see the "high subdial" config...if anything...it looks like a Swiss Army quartz chrono: EDIT: Hah hah...I just saw we posted at the same time...the same conclusion...
  20. I'm really starting to think about that black and red one in quartz...great value for a fun beater!!
  21. Very funny. If only there was warm, sunny weather where The Zigmeister is right now!!
  22. Chino's first out of the blocks with the right answer!
  23. We're trying to answer your question, which when you start doing your research, you will learn is probably the worst question to ask on a watch forum. People are being friendly...which is more than these types of queries usually get. The short answer: You get the best reps from the Internet The long answer: Where you should buy depends on a number of factors Where are you located? Certain countries have shipping restrictions so you need to choose your dealer appropriately What do you mean by best rep? Best out of the box? Best potential to take genuine parts? All have flaws. What are your priorities to avoid flaws? Datewheels? Movement reliability? Dial fonts? Crown guard shape? Are you interested in best value...or the best rep? The best rep will be 99% genuine and cost you thousands...the best value will cost $100 with shipping. There are many more questions to consider Your question is a loaded question with not enough details which is why nobody is giving you an answer. We don't know your experience with watches other than that you bought what appears to be a high priced, low quality rep and don't want to spend the same if you don't have to...but we don't know how much a stickler you are for detailed accuracy...what you consider priorities in a rep...your ability to maintain them/upgrade them...whether or not your rep was an automatic or quartz...your experience with automatic watches...chronographs...etc. Read my Noob Guide linked in my signature, and you'll get a much better understanding of the questions to ask and what to look for...including links to the dealers and reviews of them. People are extremely helpful here...but they don't spoon feed.
