  1. Nice...you need to make the Mark 1 suit.
  2. I can sympathize with SOME Of the CONUS requests, as there are known issues with bringing stuff into some countries and out of others...but between CONUS and Canada...those issues are about as minimal and low probability as shipping WITHIN CONUS. Cross border CONUS to Canada transactions are so easy. In Canada, the customs forms, postage and mailing label can be printed straight from the internet from the Canada Post site so no lineup in any post office is required...just drop the thing in a box. Receiving stuff is equally as easy...just a green customs stamp you can get without a lineup at any post office, and just slap on the right postage based on dimensions and weight. The risk between Canada and the US in my experience have been non-existent. I can see shying away from shipping stuff between Africa or even some EU countries (shipping TO EU countries, not receiving packages in Canada FROM EU countries)...but shipping TO Canada is so easy, and getting stuff from Canada has negligble risk as well.
  3. As much as the SS is more accurate, I did like the yellow accents on the Ti version more than the basic white for the SS version...too bad they didn't do the Ti case for it on the rep though. The weight on that would have been great.
  4. I do like the clear coated bezel (don't know what you call that)...it's one of the design elements I really like about the Rolex 6263's, 6542's, and even the Blancpain FF's. I've said it before...but I'll say it again...I want the Deep Two!!
  5. No misunderstanding on my end. Just so I wasn't misunderstood, my comment was mainly to highlight you got lucky that The Zig had the time answer your post...not to imply you weren't listening or anything like that. Most people usually just say to look up his posts...but he was able to respond directly which was good. Yup...I hear the excitement about getting the watch. The last thing I would want would be as soon as you get it, to have to send it off for servicing. In an ideal world, if the dealers could do it, it would be convenient...then straight upon arrival, you would have something good to go and reliable for a long time. Alas, such is the world of the rep watch, and dealer based servicing is generally not recommended. Zig's recommendation based on his examination of watches in for service is that you should be fine wearing the watch unserviced for a little while...but if you want it to be in shape to last a long time, to service it within 9 months or year or something like that. So, even upon receipt of your watch without servicing...you still have a good stretch of time to wear things before you figure out what you want to do. In that time, you might even decide you want to move onto another watch. If you also do the usual stuff I'm sure you've read like not manual winding if you can avoid it (or going very slowly if you have to), and being careful what time you change your date on the watch...you will avoid the big issues that affect the A7750 movement (that and avoid bashing it into walls or dropping it on concrete floors). We're just a bunch of passionate folks here...don't think people are criticizing you.
  6. I think the orange one looks alright!!
  7. Thanks indeed. I think the orange and blue one looks the best. We'll see if they do the black and white one that Ubi wanted. I still want the Deep Two!!!
  8. @yodap - Where did you get an ETA for $300? Is that the older 17j one?? Andrew will fix it...and if the pearl is missing...might be the easiest way to source that part. A movement transfer to Swiss movement will cost at least $100 on top of the movement...and may or may not require new hands (depending on who's doing the mod) to fit the new Swiss movement hand sizes. Servicing should solve the problem.
  9. Bear in mind...with the quick response from the Zigmeister, you were privileged to get the info from the best!! As others have said, as much as we say the dealers recommended on the board are trustworthy, the servicing options from the dealers are not generally recommended. In fact, with the A7750 movement, it's hard to find people who can service a chrono movement in general, and even harder to find someone to service an Asian 7750. The issue is mainly sourcing parts if needed...and there are some other idiosyncracies about the A7750 that aren't there compared with the Valjoux 7750. Read Zigmeister's posts to get the details on these. You can wear the watch, and you'll likely be good for over a year without problems. If you want the watch to last many years...servicing BEFORE parts that can't be replaced wear out is why servicing is recommended. Proper regular servicing (every 5 years or so) will allow a rep watch to last as long as the gen...a lifetime. Given the cost of the servicing...the other option is to just enjoy the watch...let it die when it dies...and just buy a new one. Given the nature of the hobby, you'll be accumulating more and more pieces...so you'll have a few to rotate through. Welcome to the forum.
  10. In gen form, the Slevin came in both SS and Ti on both rubber and bracelet. In rep form, only SS. They had the yellow version which was supposed to be Ti but in SS brushed to look like Ti. Nice watch...but a giveaway on the weight...not that anybody would really know the limitations of colour lines and material used...except somebody who really knows their IWC watches. The rep version made was the white on black.
  11. Good choice. A great classy watch. Keep us posted on your experience buying and receiving. First one's the charm!!
  12. Excellent work...good comparison. Is this an ETA WHS or the Asian WHS? How do you find the movement is working for you? Good stuff again.
  13. It's a forum configuration...the sig only shows up for the first post for a user in the page...so scroll up and look for my first post on this thread. The sig's long...so Admin trimmed it from repeating for successive posts to make it cleaner to read...I think it's a good feature!!
  14. I'm guessing they would probably fit...wouldn't know without trying. It's got the ringed letters, and the polished section...so it is closer. You could try writing a dealer and seeing if you can buy just the caseback.
  15. The movement with the better subdial spacing is available...but no high end reps of Speedies have been made. If the running second hand is moving like a quartz...that's the easiest tell. With subdial spacing, it can be a bit hard to tell unless you know the case size. The Moon Mid-sized looks like it has rep spacing with the wide gap, but the Moon full-size is tight...something to consider. Some people have their chrono hands running all the time for whatever reason...some people are constantly timing events.
  16. I have to admit that I'm not really that big a fan of the 86 one...kind of boring. The one I do like is this one: I saw this in person...quite beautiful...too bad the rep versions stink.
  17. A full disassembly with someone doing it really fast usually takes close to an hour...that doesn't count cleaning and reassembly. He likely just de-cased the movement, removed the rotor and replaced the one gear...not a full disassembly, cleaning and servicing.
  18. I think the recommendation is to change the wheel. There are a couple issues. If the tooth has broken off...the metal is somewhere in the watch. This tiny piece of metal is not much...but consider how small the contact points are in the movement of a watch...it's like taking a fist sized piece of metal and throwing it inside an engine block - it will rattle about and cause premature wear. If a tooth has broken off...it means that wear and tear has occurred and this should be addressed if you want the watch to last. If you want the easy way out...avoid winding...just use the autowinder, and the watch will work...but bear in mind, without a full disassembly and cleaning and reassembly, that piece of metal is still rattling about.
  19. That's pretty good...for $60...great. Did they have a Deep Two by any chance??
  20. The Tag Day Date is a very sporty watch...but classy as well. I like the black/orange Tag Aquaracer as well. In person, it has a nice presence, nice build quality...good choice. A UPO is a good choice as well...nice, understated...and if Bond can wear one in a tux...versatile. Congrats on the accomplishment!
  21. Read the Noob Guide linked in my sig and all will be revealed. Puretimewatch is one of the recommended dealers here. There are others...do your research and decide who's the best one for you.
  22. Welcome to RWG. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature and all will be revealed. To make a long story short...never heard of the dealer you're considering. They may be good...but they may rob you blind or provide bad service. The dealers on this board have a long history of overall high satisfaction (all have had complaints by somebody...but overall are considered trustworthy and reliable). We don't recommend going elsewhere unless you're feeling lucky. There are a few off-board dealers that others have had success with. There are low end reps of everything...but the stuff referred to here, are considered high end reps and not necessarily available by all the dealers out there. The links to dealers are found on the main page or in the links link at the top menu.
  23. The 7750 is hard...haven't bothered finding somebody to do that other than El Zigmeister who is the King of the A7750. I'll PM you somebody who might be able to help with the ETA movements though.
  24. Big Congrats Raymond...awesome...and the new bracelet and clasp is excellent!! Great pics too!!
