  1. The Carrera DATE (no Day function) racing in black is the right size at 41mm and is an excellent rep (no large arabic numerals around the dial...only stick markers). It comes in brown. The Carrera DAY-Date is supposed to be 43mm in the gen world, has the large Arabic numerals around the dial and also comes in brown.
  2. Looks real to me...at least by the rotor bearing being screwed on properly and the regulator. I couldn't tell you about the hand size issue. Here's the sizes we use here from another post. Genuine ETA 7750 all variants (all) Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.25mm Subdials 0.17mm Old Asian 7750 version all variants(21,600 BPH) Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.25mm Subdials 0.17mm New Asian 7750 (28,800 BPH) Normal ones - NOT the Daytona model (don't have one to measure) Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.20mm Subdial 0.20mm
  3. I missed this one before. Thanks for the bump!!
  4. Ball of duct tape...balled up sticky rubber glove...snap ring pliers (carefully)...these all work.
  5. You do make it look easy. What did you have to do to get the movement to fit? I thought the movement was too thin for the case and the stem height and dial combination.
  6. Another thing to consider with the clone ETA movements (non chrono) is that they have the same hand size and fit...even if their quality is not as good as the ETAs for reliability as noted by some here. The issue however is that to pay the premium for a "gen Swiss" does not in fact guarantee you with a real ETA movement (thanks to quality CN QA/QC and business practices)...so I would recommend paying for the clone ETA where possible (not the GMT movements), and if it dies, don't bother servicing it but get a gen ETA movement from a real watch supply house which for slightly more than the gen Swiss upgrade from the Chinese dealers will get you a NEW, clean and oiled movement probably in the OEM packaging which will in fact be reliable for years. Of course, you'll have to find somebody to do the movement swap...but starting with the Swiss clone will mean no issues with sourcing datewheels, hands, movement holders, stem height problems, etc.
  7. HAH HAH. Yup...2 weeks. AND...stick with the rep game long enough, and YOU WILL eventually get a dud that needs to be returned for repair and replacement. That will entail 2 MONTHS of waiting...and you paying for shipping back to the dealer to boot!! Aaah...reps...their wonderful. OR...if they aren't...at least RWG is.
  8. OMG...that is a brutal amount of work requiring extremely specialized skill and tools...but an AMAZING result. Wow. Big thanks for posting this. Outstanding again!!
  9. Welcome to the forum. You found the best watch forum around. Read the Noob Guide in my signature and you'll hit the ground running.
  10. Welcome to the forum. The first purchase is always a bit nerve wracking. Don't eve start thinking about it until at least 2 weeks from getting a tracking number has passed. Don't bother checking online tracking...it only gets updated once per day...not per hour or in real time...and is often days outdated. Relax...carry on with life...check back in 2 weeks.
  11. Way to go!!! You shoot better than some of the old farts here! Awesome first piece. The Explorer is truly a great watch, and one that will only look better as the years go by.
  12. What a fun read. It sounds like a fantastic trip. I haven't been there in years...would love to go back. Weddings are truly a great occasion and excuse to get old long time friends and family together...and what better way to do it than to combine it with a vacation. Great stuff. BTW...that suitcase looks awesome...it really does!!
  13. Those look awesome. The PAM looks amazing!!
  14. I've had a gen Rolex since High School...and never got called on them so I have no problem wearing them. I like them...very understated designs for the most part (except in the full gold versions or the blinged out ones). Wearing things like AP ROOs and whatnot are actually closer to what people are used to with brands like Fossil, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nixon making watches of all sorts of big in your face designs...so design wise, they would not register anything...and the brands are obscure enough to the general populace that nobody but somebody interested in luxury brands would even notice.
  15. Yup...the SL lume and the deeper wave cuts are what set the gen dial apart the most IMHO.
  16. They're listed on various sites as lumnious dots, pearls, luminous pearls. I've only ever looked for Rolex SD and Sub pearls and the Watchmaterial ones were what I bought. I don't know if they have one for the DSSD in blue and the proper size, profile, etc.
  17. Go Lani. Thanks for keeping things moving and running a tight ship.
  18. Great post. I do miss the backcountry hiking having moved to the big City for work. Someday when the kids are old enough to carry a pack, I'll take them out for a real trip.
  19. Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. Keep us posted on how this holds up over time!! I like the fact you got it from Crappy Tire...I can relate to that as opposed to some obscure internet source.
