  1. I love these stories. And it is also why I think long and hard before buying a watch to avoid having to sell.
  2. Patrizzi Daytona vs. GMTIIc? Patrizzi Daytona shows some level of Rolex connoisseurship. New GMT does not.
  3. You might ask Peter or someone else to make it if you can't find it otherwise. Also I have no idea what the status is on orders but I did order a 24/22 one from a boutique a few months ago and the wait was less than 2 weeks.
  4. Not in my experience and that includes a '50's bubble back, '66 5512, '80's 16520, etc.
  5. You lost me. The 7734 is an automatic mechanical movement. In any case it is a beautiful build. Wear it well.
  6. Projects never die. They just recycle. It is interesting as I have seen a recent rash of the older dials appear in my neck of the woods. The tough part is still getting the hands.
  7. You are right not to want to take that risk. If no one else has one they are a dime a dozen on ebay and you can pick up a screw for the next time. I have lost screws on gens as well as frankens.
  8. Very sorry to hear this. What costs $2850 from DW?
  9. Great stuff. I am with Freddy. loving that crystal case back.
  10. +1. Happy anniversary and wear those watches well.
  11. Gotta agree. That is a great example. Even good alignment of hour markers with inner tachy ring. Enjoy it.
  12. Concord Ventu, Tag Heuer Chrono Professional 2000 (or something like that). Be careful on the TAG's as they have made subsequent models with a different dial. Look for the depth of datewheel to guide you. The chrono module on top of a base movement rather than a straight line 7750 really makes a difference.
  13. Great stuff guys. I have only seen the gen at the boutique but it is gorgeous. The gold really jumps out at you.
  14. Welcome back T. I wish I could say you were sorely missed but you have done too good a job of ensuring the forum runs smoothly in your absence. Seriously, good to have you back and I will echo the same sentiment. How does one get 14 days off in a row? I could use some tips.
  15. Half the fun is staring at the pictures and trying to figure out which one is better and whether you can make the perfect rep by combining two different ones. As you may have read, one is already out from Angus and one factory with the second one on the way from Andrew and Josh and a different factory. It sounds like the latter one is still a few weeks away so you may well have to be patient....very exciting time for AP lovers.
  16. Big fan on the V6's on my end. Great value for the money.
  17. I don't care how long it takes. I just hope they get the remainder of it right.
  18. Holy crap. Looks incredible. When you have a moment (and without giving away the secret) can you show or talk us through how you make these? I have no aspirations to do the same but have always wondered how they are formed. Do you pour material into a form or wrap around a mold?
  19. I can tell you in New York they are way too occupied with other concerns to care about a rep watch. I have gone in and out dozens of time with anywhere from one on the wrist to one on and two in a nice case. The only time I have gotten a comment was nice watches when a guard opened the case in my carry on.
  20. The point is that unless you buy a donor watch or movement with the dial and hands installed on the movement then the hour wheel and canon pinion willing be laying around as there is nothing to hold them in place. So any loose movement you buy will have them lying around separately or not at all.
  21. Built back in the day when men were men and more importantly, parts were available. Dial, hands, gaskets, crown, pushers, etc. And it is still going back one more time for Edge's fabulous datewheel.
  22. Great "big boy" collection. Wear them well.
  23. Fully agree. Just remember, if you had parked your fund in Cyprus you received a 40% haircut. We are seeing the same thing going on big time in urban area real estate in NY. Foreigners are paying outrageous prices and all cash. The "look" how big my dick is is a bonus though.
