Absolutely stunning work. Lacking the skills, I have tried and failed to get someone to do this project for years.. Kudos to you. In any case thanks for this post. You have created my horological "Eleanor" (for those who remember the cinematic reference).
Tell us your budget and we may be able to give you better guidance. That AP you are showing would easily be $3500+ in true franken form (gen dial and LWO 283 movement) if you can get the parts and find someone to alter the case for the movement. As folks have said certain Omegas and Rolexes can be much more affordably built.
IMHO it's all about whether you feel comfortable wearing it. For whatever I find the 47mm watches wear much larger than the 44mm ones. I have a 7 1/4" wrist amd I reserve the 47mm for weekends but do where the 44mm for work.
+1. Don't file anything. The last thing you want to do is to file a fraudulent claim relating to a replice watch. When you ship a replica back to China or anywhere else all you can do is pray.
I go through phases. Currently two a week - one for the weekdays and one for the weekend. On vacation though I take 3-4 and change them all the time depending on the activity.
It's a great rep but simply put I found I got tired of it. The yellow hand made the whole thing feel cheap to me. But it is a great rep and I am keeping it in the hope that some day it will appeal to me again. Something about a $20k watch with a cheesy yellow hand. I far perfer the traditional SS divers and Offshores but that is me. As someone else said the nice thing is that if you buy intelligently second hand I suspect you can largely recoup your funds if you do get tired of it.
FYI, if and when there is a new FGD dial it will merit its own thread with all the details - aesthetics, availability, pricing, etc. SD's project is what is actually available and is a huge leap forward from anything available to date for Pre-V projects. Kudos to SD for following through and a number of us eagerly await the final product.
I know SD has been consulting with very knowledgeable folks along the way and frankly on that basis bought in as soon as he was willing to accept money.
