  1. In retrospect I should have done just that, but way too late now I guess. I had heard so much about his great product I bought in to it. His pics show a much better watch, I guess pictures don't always paint a thousand words!
  2. I know this is a Rep forum, but some here also collect Gen and the models eventually are reped anyway. The feeling in the air is of disappointment when the subject of Panerai's '08 lineup is mentioned. Some would say that the watches are not for the average collector and that the bread and butter pieces were not addressed. I would tend to agree, but let's not get upset until Jan'09. SIHH has been moved to January, so SIHH '09 is only 5 months away. I see some regular models on the horizon. Here are some of what I'd like to see, what would you like? Mare Nostrum Collection: 44mm SS case with in-house movement. Comes in special locking Pre-V style box and 2 straps (shark and Kodiak) with current style buckle. PAM0016 44mm SS case with blue dial white hands and Tan Kodiac/blue Shark straps PAM0017 44mm SS case with white dial black hands and black Kodiac/black Shark straps PAM0018 44mm SS case with black dial steel hands and tan Kodiac/brown Shark straps PAM0020 44mm Ti case with Tobacco dial brass hands and brown Kodiac/khaki Shark straps Historic "Logo" Edition Luminors: 44mm case with "Logo" sandwich dial (printed like the 201/A not the 0000) PAM201/A 44mm SS case with Tobacco "Logo" dial gold hands and Tan Kodiak/Khaki straps PAM0019 44mm ceramic case with black "Logo" dial gold hands and brown Kodiak/Khaki Shark straps The Limited Edition Relic Marina (edition of 200): 44mm dark gray ceramic case with non-sandwich vintage lumed dial and matching hands PAM0204 ceramic case with black dial and hands. Brown Kodiak/Khaki Shark straps with ceramic buckles
  3. Sorry, my bad. I meant to say the 177. The 117 is a Tobacco dialed Ti Destro Marina. Here's the breakdown. Panerai has yet to replace the 56/117 Destro, but I feel it coming next year. They did introduce the 219 Base Destro, a watch the community has long been waiting for. Ti Marina Tobacco dial: PAM0061 C-D series PAM0118 E-F series Ti Marina Destro Tobacco dial: PAM0056 C-D series PAM0117 E-F series Ti Marina Black Sandwich dial: PAM0177 G series to current
  4. Your 117 seems pretty good except for the mentioned problems. Seems you did better with Josh than I did, my Vintage GMT was a mess. I'd send the 117 to the Northern Spa, she'd look that much better. The strap gives it a really nice vintage look and seems to be well made. My buddy has one and loves it, it breaks in nicely.
  5. Welcome Del. It was actually $2000 USD, but that's high enough. BTW, I think that one should get very high QC when spending $300 + on a rep.
  6. BTW, these can easily be reped by DSN. I know I had trouble with DSN's QC .... but I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Remember that his PAM cases are good, seems the Pre-Vs are the issue. He would have to really be on top of his QC. One more thing about these were the case backs. They were prototypes so the case back engraving was a little rough and not like the regular Pre-Vs. 5218-209 Luminor ------------------- PAM0001 case 5218-201/A dial 5218-209 case back (would need to be made) 5218-210 Marina ------------------- PAM0195 case 5218-203 dial 5218-210 case back (must need to have the /A removed)
  7. Here you go. I bought my 207/Blue about 7 months ago on Ioffer. 5218-207/A
  8. Well, the old case isn't that bad. I bought it used, it was moded, and it's a great beater. This is DSN's older stuff, which by what I see is better. Oops, thought you said the 201. The 210 was not half bad because that watch is supposed to have a single screw case as in new PAMs. The only thing was it needs new screws that will fit the case.
  9. Well, I received my order and I must say I'm not impressed at all. I'd heard so much about his watches and thought I really wanted a few of his pieces. I own an older 5218-201/A I bought used from another member and heard his new cases were even better. I take weeks waiting, reading, deciding, then finally place my order. I choose the 5218- 202, 203, 207, 210, and 218/A. I have numerous email communication with him asking to make sure all watches are 100% before shipping. I wanted to make sure because shipping back a watch is a pain, plus I heard he inspects personally before shipping. I'm assured all will be perfect and I make payment. I receive word he has ahipped the first of two packages. Shipping was quick, only a few days from Hong Kong. The first package contained the 202 and 207. The 202's case was that of a regular PAM, not a 5218 Pre-V. The movement was loose and I couldn't open the crown lever. The 207 had the Pre-V case but the crown sits too high on the case side not allowing the crown to show from the case back side of the CG. I basically would have to wind the watch from the crystal side only. I will not bore you all with the problems of the second package, but I will give you some of the main problems. Pre-V PVD watches have new style cases, Some watches have ARC, you can not use a lug tube because screws are too thick, screws are not threaded correctly and will not hold in the case, and so on. I've sent the watches back (except for the 210) and now I wait for the replacements. I've asked DSN some question about the watches and I haven't heard from him since 4/27. I would not recommend ordering from DSN until he resolves problems with his dissatisfied customers, I'm not the only one. We should all keep the community informed, anyone else here have problems with DSN?
  10. Congrats V-Man and Mrs-V! Seems there is something you make better than straps. You'd better double up on your strap making, Pampers, formula, bicycles, private school, Ferraris, and Ivy League College isn't cheap. Now the TRUE adventure begins, you have a wonderful life ahead .... ENJOY my friend!
  11. I don't have the buttons for stars, checks, zings and he like .... where did they go?
  12. A REAL BEAUTY!!!!!!!!! Ummmmmmmm, sweet. It's unmistakably a design from the house that Battista built and it seems oddly familiar. Hafei maybe? Do tell please.
  13. Well, you are going to start off with your basic search. First, the case. You'll need a Ti or PVD case. Now, you want a date. A PW, Chrono, or GMT are were you'll have to look. Now, what size are you looking for, you'll need to choose between 40 or 44mm and don't forget dial color preference. Then the hunt begins. BTW, all the models you seek are automatic.
  14. I don't know where the info on these two watches has come from lately, but it's inaccurate. The 209 and 210 are hybrids of the Pre-V and Pre-A watches. The 209 (12 pcs produced) used a Pre-A SS case with a Pre-V 201/A Logo dial while the 210 (2 pieces produced #'s 54 and 55) used a Pre-A PVD case with a 203/A dial. Neither watch used the /A on the case back because Panerai thought it would be confused with the upcoming A series watches. BTW, Pre-Vendome dials had no "T" markings (only exceptions were the Mare Nostrum). Pre-A had T-SWISS-T markings, while A and B series had T SWISS T. The 210 we see now is an orange dialed PVD Base model that was a Prototype, really produced as an attempt with dial colors. Pre-Vendome: Case: Pre-V Hands: Pre-V Movement: Pre-V Strap: Pre-V 5218-209 and 5219-210: Case: Pre-A Hands: Pre-V Movement: Pre-V Strap: Pre-A Pre-A: Case: Pre-A OP6500 Hands: Tritium Movement: OP II Strap: Pre-A T-SWISS-T Tri-State GTG Info
  15. Thanks 2MG, who would you recommend for the MBW watch?
  16. Well, I hope to have a Franken 5508 and 5500 Explorer soon and I'm already thinking about another project. I have a great 5512 dial that I bought as a spare for my Gen 5512. I was thinking of making a complete 5512 using an ETA movement. Does anyone know what Caliber ETA I would need? I know I would need ETA hands, but what case should I use, NDT? Please chime in guys.
  17. I have a feeling I know who won. RWG Tri-State GTG
  18. Looks like a great time had by all. I hope the Tri-State GTG turns out this good.
  19. Great cars all guys, BTW I have a special place in my heart for Mustangs. My first car was a '69 coupe, followed by a McLaren, then a SALEEN, and finally had to go with a Thunderbird SC. Now I have an '07 Elanore as well ..... if my Son will ever park it.
