Hi All,
I've been given from a colleague an old hand wind Vostok watch that was not working.
It is the one with the tank on the black dial.

To fix it I got from the web a not working donor watch where I took the needed part.

Now it's time to reassemble the final one and I'm in doubt about which dial to put in,,,

They both have practically no lume at all. The black one is maybe more characteristic, but the grey one has more historical value, because of the write "3aka3 md cccp" which means "Ordered from the defence minister", while the black only says "Made in CCCP".

Which one will you choose?
The case is the one on the right in the first 2 pictures.

This is the strap that will complete the watch:

Kinda like the tank on the dial funny detail but not pretty in a watch so my bet is on the plain one :)

The tank dial looks good in that case. Show us the end result with strap on it when it's finished mate ;)

I'll do.

It's a sin that I'll not be able to properly polish the case (it's plated brass), but at least the plexy went shiny ;)

Looks great, that long crown throws off the look slightly but if that's the crown meant for the case then I guess there's not much you can do.

The whole red black military theme is awesome and the hands are perfect.

You can always find the tank dial in a case like that, but that case does not go with the plain dial.

I'd like to see the plain dial in a better fitting/styled case.

I really need to make myself one of these for my dedicated dive watch (unless I just buy an skx007). How do you find the crown on them? I've heard they are rather odd in how they operate.

They are! :)

They are like a spring loaded crown (like a Rollie or a Tudor one) but with no spring.

So it's really wobbly, but not difficult to operate :)
