rek001 Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Yes, what's up with the intro of this watch, anyway?
Chronus Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 In the meantime, discuss: If you had a choice, standard Aquatimer chrono or Cousteau 2006 ? I'll lean towards the Cousteau due to the colouring, but if the standard version is better constructed, I'll go for that.
Pugwash Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 i em sure the delay is beacuse the cartel is having a price disscuson This is made by the Ultimate Planet Ocean makers so it's not subject to cartel pricing. I have my pre-order with Precious Time ready. If you had a choice, standard Aquatimer chrono or Cousteau 2006 ? I'd go with the 42mm Aquatimer over the 44mm Cousteau.
ryaku Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Pug are you waiting for the ss bracelet or you'll get it as soon as possibile without it? I'm interested too, i guess i'll send a mail to King today
Pugwash Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 Pug are you waiting for the ss bracelet or you'll get it as soon as possibile without it? As soon as possible, and then I'm trying to fit my Aquatimer 2000 bracelet on it. Why wait? If it's available later, and my bracelet doesn't fit, I'll pick up a bracelet later. I want the rubber anyway.
Watchmeister Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 This is not a cartel driven watch. I am still hopeful it will be slightly cheaper than CD and that they add the additional teeth to the inner bezel mechanism to allow for better alignment. I do want the bracelet though.
yellomen Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Yep... i want the bracelet too! I am worried though... if it comes from the sam manufacterer as the UPO, i hope the crown and tube thread will be much better than on the UPO!! I had several of them and all tube threads where stripped or really weak to say the least...
Pugwash Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 have it not been 2weeks? And then some.
ryaku Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 What the hell are they doin' with this watch? Maybe they just wait to have the ss bracelet ready.
b16a2 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I personally feel its partly marketing strategy, it's creating hype for the product!
yellomen Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I don't think so... the hype is starting to change into irritation and that's not good... when people are waiting with th money in their pockets for too long, they will find something else to spent their money on.
Watchmeister Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Well, if they wait long enough we will give in and buy gens. I am seeing a lot of gens for sale lately and they are not moving. The prices seem to get lower and lower. You can now buy it on a bracelet for less than $3,000 if you look around.
yellomen Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Mmmm... let's see ... a superrep priced at around $450,- or a gen a around 6x the price... my rule has always been that a rep should be less than 1/10 of the gen price. Well... i hope they hurry and keep the price at least modest...
Pugwash Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 Mmmm... let's see ... a superrep priced at around $450,- I sincerely hope this isn't a $450 rep.
ryaku Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I'm not gonna spend more than 300$ in any case.
Watchmeister Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 It might be a good gen to own. I always have this innate fear that I will wake up at 65 with a 44mm PAM on my wrist looking like Flavor Flav (no not our Flav Flav - ). This one should look good trough the ages.
Pugwash Posted August 18, 2007 Author Report Posted August 18, 2007 Damn it - where is this thing! Looks like being a $350-$400 rep and it should be about in 2 more weeks, all going well. Yes, it looks like I'll lose my bet on the price.
mezzanine Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 No way is it going to be over $350....you're kidding. This should be in the SFSO range, IMO....low 300's. Honestly, I don't know why someone would buy this over the Cousteau if they're the same price. Okay, I do...if you like this model especially, or if you have smaller wrists- but if it were me, it would be no contest if there was no discrepancy with price. The Cousteau is a more sophisticated rep....I don't see how they can justify it. No rotating inner bezel, no faux piece of Calypso on the caseback, etc...
k2222 Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 There is rotating inner bezel, same as CD, and a small piece of wood, well i think that regular aquatimer caseback look much better then CD, simple and solid, probably more acurate too
arminvanbuuren Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 im 1 i decided to get a vco double ar'd now.. this is taking too long
