alligoat Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Beautiful job, dluddy. Everything is perfect, except it's too new! Let's see, it was kept in a safe by an old eccentric for 45 years and you bought it at an estate sale- that could be your story. Or you give it to Nanuq for aging.... On second thought, maybe you just wear it for ten years and let it age gracefully. Very nice- I especially like the gilt hands and dial.
JoJo35 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Awesome job D! I haven't done a pointed cg yet, but one never knows what the future holds! I love the RSC reworked look of the newer insert, flat 19, and triplock. Congrats to the builder and owner, beautiful watch!
vlydog Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Beautiful piece D, congratulations. It sure is trilling when they return home. Wear it in good health.
Stephane Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 We're never tired of seing those beauties. Congrats D and bravo
coolfire Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 OMG.. I thought that was a gen for a moment...
Watchmeister Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 D- Fabulous looking watch. Wear it well.
tmg Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Sweet D, another fantastic job by The Zigmeister. I know you've been waiting for this one. Wear it well!
Tribal Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Very Nice Job Looks fantastic...... a The Zigmeister masterpiece
Dizzy Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 damn thats nice! love those pointy guards!
HauteHippie Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 That is a fantastic piece. Congrats!!
Nanuq Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Magnificent! And to tell the truth... your case looks better than my gen 1680. Honest.
lanikai Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Another jaw dropping masterpiece by the Master !!!!!! Looks AWESOME D !! Congrats BIG TIME... Live Strong and Wear it Well
freddy333 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I am getting tired of looking at Ziggy's work. It is so boringly consistent, with no variation or character. The lume on every watch looks the same - like every vintage gen. Where is the fun in that? Seriously, it looks better than the gens. But I cannot believe you hobbled it with that crummy rivet job. Please, please, please remove & toss it as far as you can throw it. Invest in a gen folded link 9315 or solid link 93150. Or, at the very least, an aftermarket 93150, or put it on a NATO or strap.
dluddy Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 Thanks for all of the positive comments gents This was one of those projects that I was unsure I would like at the end but I have to say, it is my favorite Sub now @ JoJo, yes, sacrifices had to be made so the RSC look won out. Genuine SuperDome T-19's and Gen vintage inserts and twinlocks were over my budget for this one @ Freddy, a 9315 is on my list but the budget was spent so the rivet was used. I happen to like these Rivets but I am guessing you are not a rivet fan Now I just need to wear it regularly and age it gracefully Just noticed that Andrew Shear is selling a Gen 5513 Gilt dial (just the dial) on the bay for $5,000 Mine doesn't look too bad
Cats Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 What a nice piece dluddt. Wear it well. Yet antoher watch added to my wishlist. BTW who knows the best excuse(s) towards the wife for spending again a lot of money on a watch which i already own too much. Carpe Diem Cats
freddy333 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 @ Freddy, a 9315 is on my list but the budget was spent so the rivet was used. I happen to like these Rivets but I am guessing you are not a rivet fan The gen rivets are fine, but attaching 1 of those aftermarket rivets (no matter how you mod it) to even a gen will make your watch look fake.
Justasgood Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Great watch and as usual, a The Zigmeister masterpiece.....but, am I missing the Pointed CG's? I see the Gen pic for comparison, but am I missing the modded piece with Pointed CG's? BTW, mine says hello.........and a dial and hands will be on the way to the Zigster for a little "treatment"' Wear it in good health.
Nanuq Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Okay, dluddy ... your assignment, should you choose to accept it... Find me a gilt dial for my GMT Master. I, um, gave my last one away. That 5513 is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dluddy Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 Great watch and as usual, a Ziggy masterpiece.....but, am I missing the Pointed CG's? I see the Gen pic for comparison, but am I missing the modded piece with Pointed CG's? Thanks! Well, let's say mine are pointy but not quite as "Sharp" as yours. I'll probably have some more work done and make them a tad more pointy but it is probably just the bad photography and lighting.
jjfesq Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Beautiful Job! I cant wait till Zig works his magic on my MBW 1680. BTW where did you source tudor hands ?
Nanuq Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 I can't get over that first picture. MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN that thing's pretty. We have to talk about a trade here. *wiggly eyebrows*
dluddy Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 Beautiful Job! I cant wait till Zig works his magic on my MBW 1680. BTW where did you source tudor hands ? Thanks Jeff.
