  2. Been on a 6239 kick for awhile but decided to get this beauty a new crystal and been wearing it all week. Nice to take a long break from something and make it feel almost new again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Well, I think I have finally completed my 6538 sub build. Just replaced the 6636 bracelet from '65 to a "more correct" 1957 6636. Ideally would have liked a 1956 bracelet, but what can you do. The rivet bracelet is near mint and very rare to find in this condition from the mid '50's. I also acquired a genuine bezel. Bezel was lightly aged to reveal the brass. Although it's a service bezel, I really like the profile. Specs: Phong midcase/case back Red depth gilt dial from the dark lord, Gen T17 superdome Gen service bezel Gen uber fat font long5 insert Gen 8mm crown/tube Gen '57 6636 expandable bracelet with 58 endlinks Gen gilt hands Gen 1030 movement I'm putting the tools down now (and my wallet). 5. Well, I personally see any purpose in that clock in the bentley. Then again, I'm not exactly a fan of bentleys either for that matter. I would say you could buy some nice gens for that price, or a hell of alot of rep builds. Plus, the clock looks kind of funky like that.

  8. That's not a bad price from Phong. But if you already have the bezel, you'd do better to send the case, crystal and bezel to jmb and have him turn a crystal retention ring for you- then you'll know the parts will all fit.

  9. Gents I think we have all said our piece here so I will be locking this up shortly. As we all spend most of our free time here unlike other boards which frown upon such topics I think it good for us to talk about important matters such as this. For myself want to get a sense of what others are thinking world wide I am surely not visiting the cross section of countries that our members are from. This in no way means we can not have a similar topic again if world events present themselves but at this point beating a dead horse.

  11. For those of you that know me, you know I've got a thing for 1016s and Gilt dials. Well back over on this thread I made my wife her 1016: https://rwg.cc/topic/178104-finally-finished-my-wifes-1016#comment-1415509 Since then I've been wanting to make myself something similar, but I wanted to use the best parts I can find. And it's finally complete: My Ultimate 1016 This is a jmb v2 case that's been tapped for gen tube and crown. I went with a Yuki Gilt dial and hands combination and added a gen jubilee bracelet I found on the Bay. All this runs on a recently serviced Swiss ETA 2824-2. I know the gen is 18,000 bph but I elected to go high beat. I even asked Justin to engrave the case with my birth year. I also used the 6 million serial number which I believe is within that time frame. I've gone through A LOT of watches, but something tells me this guy is sticking around with me for a long time

  12. It is a bit hard for me to express myself to a complicated matter as this as English is not my native language. The problem I always find in this kind of discussions is that we do not really distinguish between ideas and people. An idea like Islam may be bad but that does not mean that muslims are bad people. In fact I strongly believe that Islam is very problematic in itself. It is just a fact that the koran is strongly supporting violence and ignorance against non-believers. Moderate muslims must interpret and bend the ideas and rules a lot more to find themselves in the koran than fundamentalists. I think that we have to fight the idea, but not the people who follow it. We have to stand up against it instead of tolerating it (even if there are muslims that are good people).

  13. I'm sorry Mike but you say it's inevitable that we go to war with Islam. Just a couple of facts... There is 1.6 Billion Muslims in the world, Pakistan is a Muslim country that had Nuclear weaponry plus there is always the chance of others China/Nth Korea picking the wrong side. Of these Muslim numbers the entire ISIS, Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda make only 0.003% of the Muslim population and only 2% of all terrorist attacks can be shown to be in the name of Islam. Are the above figures really enough to risk nuclear war and possible end of the human race? Even if we could get through such a war I am sure the world would not be the kind of place I would want my children or Grandchildren to grow up in. Is there another way? There has to be, it took over 30 years to stop the bloodshed in Ireland maybe it's time to learn from history. Ken
