Thanks. Looks solid! I have one coming in. Hopefully I will get it before the holidays. Will service it upon arrival and will do a review if it hasn't been done yet on other fora?2 points

This week I finally got the new ZF iw5001-14. The "check on arrival" process showed me that the all was working but the date was changing between 8.30pm and 10pm. So today I fixed the hands so that the date change is midnight sharp and I regulated it to keep good time. It looks a well made movement to me. It is stable face up, vertical crown left, up and right. It gains around 10s/d when face down. It autowinds in both directions (like an eta 2824, unlike the Miyota ones or the 775x). The stem is easy to extract and reinsert with a bit of care that is always needed in this task, starting from time regulation position. It looked clean, but a bit dry of oil... I put a bit of Moebius ones where I could (didn't want to service it for now). Also the rotor screw was quite loose... Not the others. At the beginning I thought that the bezel has to be removed to extract it from the case, but luckily the case back removal is enough. Now some pic. Before and after regulation: A couple of pics of the movement and hands alignment after the repositioning. Cheers, GenTLe1 point

Hi Mate, haven't seen a teardown or any service-related thread on any of the 3 fora I follow (basically RG, RGW and here). It would be GREAT if you may do some picture thread with the teardown and with some suggestion like "take care of this because it can fly away easily" or such.1 point

Saw this last night and it blew my mind..and I've discovered another model... great when you learn about these more uncommon models. They really lend themselves to rep/frank'in... they are fantasy builds for most of us I guess. This is a peach - congrats:)1 point

What a classic, this is truly a beautiful build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

That dial has so much depth and class to it, really unique! Hats off to you on a fantastic build. Definitely a keeper, if you ever wish to sell please let me know1 point

I love the dial. The 6350 is a fantastic choice. Well done. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk1 point

Magnificent result! It's got understated character out the wazzoo. Hang onto that one.1 point

Awesome build man. Unique and different. Really dig the texture on the dial. Love the dome plexi too. This is one of the coolest builds I have seen. Congrats[emoji106]1 point

Man, that turned out great and the gen dome has incredible clarity! You are correct about the Felsa, it's a hair larger in OD than the ETA and needs to be sanded. Time to decide on another project!1 point

Gentlemen - you are free to express your views, but not to use foul language or to attack specific people. That is over the edge. While I believe there is more than 1,000 years of factual evidence to support the premise that Islam is a violent religion (or cult, as some historians have suggested), to suggest that all Muslims are violent or ignorant is itself ignorant & unenlightened. But 1 cannot ignore the fact that nearly all of the military-style attacks against innocent, unarmed civilians since the late 70s were committed by Muslims. Not Christians, not Jews, not Norwegians, not South Koreans & not Texans. The perpetrators are nearly always Muslims & their 'jihad' is always against the 'Great Satans' - Jews, Israel, the United States & other western societies. You can rationalize or feel whatever you want, but that does not change the facts.1 point

Interesting analogy, but the fact remains that if all of these Islamic terrorist attacks since 1978 on innocent civilians had been committed by Jews or Christians, there would have been loud, unequivocal & nearly unanimous condemnations from virtually every Jew & Christian. The reason so many Jews & Christians look on Muslims with suspicion is specifically because the silence from the Islamic world in the face of ongoing & ever-more violent acts against innocent civilians is deafening. Every society has its share of evil people. The difference between the civilized & the uncivilized is how each society treats those evil people. The civilized condemn & punish them, while the uncivilized celebrate them. (Palestinians dancing in the streets on 9/11)1 point

Does JoeyB make retaining rings or just the bezel and insert? Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk1 point

That's not a bad price from Phong. But if you already have the bezel, you'd do better to send the case, crystal and bezel to jmb and have him turn a crystal retention ring for you- then you'll know the parts will all fit.1 point
-
A gen ring will be functionally no different than an aftermarket ring, if it fits right. Measure the OD of your rehaut, OD of your crystal and ID of your bezel. Then give JMB a PM.1 point

It should have a similar profile to the 6536 or 6538 rings but the diameters might be wrong. If all else fails you can try JMB and his mad skillz at machining metal. He could recreate Van Gough's "Starry Night" given enough time and brass.1 point
