  1. take care im sure you ll kick its ass you ll be back on here in no time! all the best
  2. or stop using facebook, people too openly give away personal information and share angst on these social networks, like i care how the newest justin beaver song makes you feel or who youre dating
  3. no. thats not it. the lume area on the minute hand should start right where the angle brakes to become square, the lume area on the hour hand should extend right to the round base of the ring that goes around the pinion instead of having a square gap of metal. they stick out to me as a flaw, its all i can see, they are clarks, no? you have to realize however i do have a sickness, no one else will likely notice. example of lumi hands and tritium hands; both observe this rule despite being 35 years apart.
  4. happens all the time. nothing new. i often see google results with topics ive posted in regards to vintage rolex pieces. it gets added because of the way google crawls the internet for certain keywords and often searched words and relevance of said words. this forum is also not encrypted and google can crawl anything... how do you think most people find this place to begin with? sometimes its handy however, especially when certain posts have gone 404 after forum upgrades you can still read them by checking the google cache of the page, even without logging in to rwg
  5. you gotta change the hands, it kills it for me.
  6. that is really no better than a stock mbk bracelet, the fact that it is stamped '93250' actually makes it worse MBK with a connecting end link mod
  7. really? http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6784664/7909371.htm anyways theres plenty wrong with it for $60. its solid linked, NON SEL ends, like i said before the noobmariner bracelet is probably the best bet for people looking for a good inexpensive 93250
  8. this might actually help you out. i discovered a use for DLC rolexs awhile back. no reflection of the metal makes it easy to see the exact shape and contour of the case. check out those CGs, much easier to see and understand.
  9. i think it will look simpatico once its all together
  10. its more than likely out of beat now, i dont think you can regulate it back into beat without the use of a machine to calculate it.
  11. remember there are many many variations between years as well
  12. what dont you like about it? the lume can always be scooped out and replaced and the dome can be polished smooth
  13. (symmetrical, camera angle may make them appear not) practice and observation i use the triangle file, flat file, and round file, first i roughly trim away what i dont want with the flat edge files, this is often done squarely, then i trace the contour out like a semi circle and use the round file to achieve the the correct interior contour around the crown...hmm hard to explain in words. then i use sand paper to finely make them symmetrical and smooth and to eventually finish them before a deep polish... my advice is look at a lot of pictures from many angles , hold the gen in your hands if you can and observe it in 3D space. when you go to mod your piece visualize what you want removed from the stock CGs and maintain that image in your head until youre satisfied that it matches up. i find drawing cutaway spots on the actual case to be ineffective
  14. looks like a typical replacement lumi pearl to me
  15. showoff you have almost the perfect 1680 there
  16. looks very good. weakest point for me is the insert, CGs, and hands (which you are planning on replacing anyways) dial is good, GEN, you can see the makers mark on the back and its perfect. i think a gen insert will just complete it
  17. thats about what ive sunk into a glossy 5513 franken. only thing that is not gen is the case (MBW) and 1/3 of the bracelet, movement is ETA 1680 costs slightly more if youre mixing in gen parts + you got the messy date alignment, i also did all the work myself so there was no paying anyone else to mod my case
  18. depends what you want in it. MBW case $190 ingod dial or mbk dial $140 / $80 respectively clarks top hat $30 2846 + servicing $230 datewheel $10-$30 insert: service gen or pmwf+ofrei pearl $90-$150 gen crown $30-$70 WSO tube $25 hands $30 2mm bars $6 bracelet??? they all suck, you need to make a hybrid to get it right. assembly costs ???? dont expect it to be cheap or easy, given the above ingredients it would make a truly magnificent watch but you could still spend more $$ and take it a lot further
  19. the old style MBW 5513 case fits the mbw 1680 dial nicely there are only two dials that mbk seems to make nicely enough to use, even when being pretty picky: 1680 white and the 1665 white. you gotta factor in the yuki case is also about $350 MORE than an mbw case set AND you have to buy an additional eta ring for $40 if youre not going to be using a gen movement. as i see it the BIGGEST problem with making vintage pieces is getting a correct bracelet. im thinking it becomes a combination of the noobmariner bracelet, a modded MBW 93150 and a gen clasp, with either gen 580s or modded PTs (compress them) or WSOs MBW 93150 with modded connecting end link
