  1. my 25 year+ 5513 dial does not glow at all even after attempted charging under a light bulb for 10 seconds. havnt tried a UV light yet
  2. keep in mind there are differences between gen hands. some have fatter frames some have slimmer. this is especially true of the tritium generation.
  3. no kidding! the one i bought was liquefied! like a black gooey soup--
  4. the PT inserts can bleach up nice, easy to control too
  5. if anyone wants to sell me their asian 3135 rotor i ll buy it. double digit cash paid
  6. mark greenberg often sells 702s for $65
  7. cant really see the minute hands but the other two look good to me. hour hands appears to curve like it should.
  8. the one you make yourself. gen clasp unless youre ok with a bad coronet or incorrectly drilled adjustment holes. to keep things budget i would go with either WSO 580 endlinks which arent perfect but decent enough, or if someone is selling PT endlinks those are ok but need a bit of vertical compressing and the 580 engraving is too large, or if youre sick like most of us here get um *cough* gen (at $70 per link, i swear gold is cheaper) there really is no good bracelet but the endlinks and clasp are two thirds of the battle. the latest PT bracelet is engraved 93250 for some reason, and the end bracelet link is obviously open which the gen isnt, the machining and finishing is noticeably sub par, so thats out. the mbk is expensive and not perfect, the links taper and the end link on the bracelet needs modding since its flat and the gen is contoured, clasp is also wrong. they all have such noticeably tragic flaws so in short i dont know. i feel like it would take 3 bracelets to make a half decent one. noobmariner links, mbk modded 93150 endlink, and WSO or PT ends, gen clasp. thats $120 right there without a gen clasp ($170+)
  9. rehaut is too shallow also but the guards are definitely the sticking point
  10. that is awesome... pop those bubbles
  11. more stuff than i need. oh the possibilities of what these will become, and now starts the LONG process of modding to a general standard
  12. very nice beater. what was your aging technique? the usual straight bleach?
  13. theres a phillips bit that works, i think its a #6
  14. very innovative. i like it im gonna try and make me some 702 crowns right now
  15. would there be any way to have a cnc machine etch out a negative rubber stamp or plastic stamp for just stamping these blanks?
  16. i hate dealing with date alignments. i actually made a guide out of acetate sheets (which are clear) to align them by making sure all the dates fell into the boxes on the clear sheet... hmm hard to explain what i mean. still tedious work since youre dealing with several dimensions, not only that but the natural date change over is also slightly different than using the quick set date to check the alignment. in short im now building a 5513 (no date)
  17. his dial was SL so it should be white. i have a tritium gloss dial that is off white with very close matched hands
  18. not bad. lets see some more got a little hottie in the works myself. (self modded)
  19. specialized equipment to make those little microstella adjustments weights, the availability and reusablity of existing engineered and manufactured parts i.e the DG balance wheel that is used here. this looks little more than a chinese movement with burgundy colored gears. i wish this was even 90% repd if this movement does indeed turn out to be more than we thought and accepts gen parts(not likely) in theory think it could be modded to become a 1520?
  20. of course virtually no one will know but you, but if your going for a franken rep those little idiosyncrasies pick at you and they stand out above all the gen parts. but if im visually convinced that i can not improve my rep and it is as close to perfect as i can achieve visually then i can comfortably wear it. call it OCD i guess if i notice its a visual flaw it personally bothers me, its above trying to fool someone about its authenticity. i think i have a problem...
