  1. the tells for me: crown position, cgs crown profile shape, and that rehaut engraving. is it really that hard for the factory to pull these pieces before they get put through the engraving machine?
  2. an mbk 1680 dial will fit the mbk 5513 case, its a little tight actually. and the dial isnt that bad, kind of looks like a service dial
  3. i use a vise and a piece of plastic tubing that i believe is intended to run natural gas. works everytime
  4. might have one (MBW case)for sale shortly. lug holes already drilled @1.25mm, stock crown tube removed new threads fits gen crown tube, cgs already done in mid to late 80s style. similar to the ones in your picture but more square on the inside. josh case, the CGS can never be fixed, and the yuki dial is printed too thick. mbk case + ingod 5513 dial or even an ndt dial in that particular style. will grant you the watch you want. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Dial-Rolex-Submariner-Ref-5513-Maxi-Dial-White-Lume-/350452852420?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51989e26c4 ingod has none for sale right now, but he usually does every few weeks. his dials look great.
  5. needs some cleaning up and vectorizing in illustrator maybe if i have a bit of time i ll make a vector template for members here to download
  6. in practice it is taught by Rolex to use the green loctite on the tubes, i personally use the blue as does many watchmakers.
  7. datewheels are the reason i chase 5513s and snowflakes the mbk overlay is decent enough
  8. i can tell you if you buy complete watches from MBK your wasting your money as they dont even install ALL the gaskets... look under the retaining ring, bet ya its missing a rubber gasket, they come stock this way, i would never sell a 'complete' watch this way THIS is how they come. now you have to pay someone to fix it. LOOK at that nice little reservoir which will hold water and wick it up under the crystal once the pressure has changed. this is also not a standard caseback size gasket, its slightly smaller. i forget the exact part number. also check your movement. theyve been to know to slip this nasty thing in there. if you have one of these consider it a repair expense.
  9. sounds good. IF and ONLY IF you get a good case from yuki, some of her run seems to be plagued with bad machining.
  10. start with a PT, if you plan to do NO mods. if you plan on taking it further than wearing it out of the box get the MBK, but be prepared to sink $600 to make it very awesome. dont get the whole MBK watch either youre just wasting $200 extra dollars that could be put towards other parts. really only the MBK case and dials(NOT 5513/12) are worth paying for, dont even get me started on the movements. ive had both a PT watch and an MBK there is an obvious difference in quality of metal used and the finishing, the PT leaves something to be desired, but if youre just opening the box putting it on and going get the PT at $200 and accept the flaws
  11. these are some nice pieces. love that modern bond sub, this is the only way id ever wear a ceramic sub. might have to order one of these for myself. good stuff here
  12. i like the case and the sub dials. but the rest isnt for me. it is really interesting how they incorporated the bracelet strap into the watch dial design, that is a really neat touch.
  13. thats good to know, when did you purchase yours? its impossible to find perfect cgs, these look a little fat but the shape is nice. are you thinking of just doing the inside a little? is the custom case engraving included?
  14. how well does it install new tubes? i can remove tubes with my current setup but if i used a reamer it would strip the inner tube threads and may not install tight. i hope you find some good tube tools on your adventure
  15. thats what i figured. i found this one on ebay. seems reasonably priced...sort of...maybe. well compared to others. ebay tube tool to remove the old style tube i used an ez out screw xtractor bit/pin vise and a soldering gun to heat up the tube first.. came out nicely. believe it or not it was harder to remove the tube from the xtractor bit afterwards.
  16. anyone know a cheap alternative to a rolex tube installing tool? is anyone out there using something else that works with out stripping the threads? i hate waiting for shipping and was wondering if my local home depot had a bit that fits the 703 tube threading. it almost looks like security torx
