  1. Hate to be Captain Obvious, but the answer is in the post you quoted.
  2. The BK WM9 YM was the best out of the box, IMO. The BK WM9 Subs rated a close second. Unfortunately the WM9's are gone (as is WM9 apparently), so you will have to find one on the boards for sale. My BK WM9 LV Sub for example ... and no, it's not for sale. Anything from BK will be better than what you can find from the regular dealers. He has a new Sub offering that is supposed to be quite good. There are a couple of reviews floating around. Other than those, you would need to find a franken of some sort as flaws are pretty evident with the out of the box Rolex reps.
  3. Actually By-Tor, I suspect many of us actually do buy a 'rep' car ... sort of. More properly, I suppose 'used gen' might be the better term. Look at Dave123, he bought a 2008 SL55 which can be had (here in the US anyway) for less than $70k if one shops around. Less than half the cost of a new one. Smart money, well spent, I say ... I almost never buy new anymore. I would much rather spend $30-$40k on a quality used car, than eat the depreciation of a new car. You can buy current body style SL's for that price (even older AMGs), as well as many of the other 'exotics' in this thread. Sure there are more expensive rides here that can't be bought for that, but they can still be had at a deep discount over the new price. Very few people (are there CIS's?) are going to know you didn't pay full price when they see you driving by. I'm looking to replace my 'bought off the Bay' XK8 right now, and can't believe the prices I am finding for quality low-mileage cars. In short, I believe rep buyers in general are pretty savvy with money. As Dave123 also said, look what you can do with the money you save buying reps ... or even cars ...

    Wm9 v2 sub!

Yes, considering they haven't been made for a while, and WM9 is (by all reports) gone. You would have to find someone willing to sell one on the boards. They do come up from time-to-time.
  5. For all steel, my Ebel 1911 Discovery Chrono. It's understated on the wrist for a chrono, goes with anything, and any situation. I also love my 3717 as a 'goes with pretty much anything' option, but have it on leather. The bracelet really didn't do anything for me. My BCE is a bit to chunky for formal wear, and my BK WM9 Sub LV is a little out of place in dress situations with the green bezel.
  6. I would classify it as 'off-white'. Not perfectly white, but definitely not silver. My pic is pretty accurate color-wise, and the rep is pretty much impossible to tell from gen. You can tell the difference by looking at the second hand, hour and minute hands, and datewheels.
  7. I'm on WOW after switching from Time Warner. Got tired of their feud with Sinclair broadcasting, and made the switch. A bit cheaper and the internet service seems better.
  8. Actually KB the Raymond Weil Nabucco Chronograph rep is quite good. I have not seen a rep of the Freelancer, although it looks to be based on a 7750, so it should be possible.
  9. Lange 1 VC Patrimony Chrono Maurice Lacroix Double Retrograde Schauer Edition 12
  10. AFAIK that watch hasn't been made for a while. Might try to find out who bought this one and see if they will part with it.
  11. 29-302-86 According to ofrei.com anyway. http://www.ofrei.com/page_153.html Clark's version. http://cgi.ebay.com/Case-back-gaskets-Rolex-29-302-86-5-pieces-/250752647943
  12. PM Red Series 3. He and I had a conversation about them a few months ago. He had a bad experience with them. Just so you know, as I have followed their auctions for some time, every one of their auctions uses the same photos. Make sure they send you pics of the actual item you are getting before you bid. You won't be getting the item in the pictures, I promise you.
  13. Clockwork Mod and Titanium Backup for Android ... must haves for running custom ROMs. Oh wait ... that's right, you can do that on an iPhone. Sorry for the thread-crap ...
  14. Oh Ubi .... you know all of yours are Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Frankens ...
  15. I had that issue and had my dealer ship me a replacement which was much better.
  16. One on the Bay right now with a BIN of $299. http://cgi.ebay.com/MEMOSAIL-REGATTA-CHRONOGRAPH-VALJOUX-7737-CIRCA-60-70-/280606212398?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item41556f012e
  17. One other place to look for the Zenith/Tag watches is when LVMH does their Friends and Family Sale.
  18. Both watches are not powered by an El Primero ... the Daytona is a Valjoux 72 based watch (Rolex 727). The EP400's have always seemed to be the least expensive in Movado's when I have been looking for them. And Defender is correct, you have to be careful to get the proper movement in the Ebels.
  19. I have both the Ebel and the 3717. The Ebel is more accurate out of the box, but I have modded the 3717 and it is my favorite watch, bar none ... The BCE also has the tachymeter scale, but it's a big chunk of steel and date only. You should also look at the Newman Daytonas. Of course they don't have day/date wheels.
  20. Went for my sterile 063 from Homer today ...
  21. Given the big date at 4, I doubt you'll find a rep of this one. Could be wrong, but I don't think there is a Chinese movement capable of it.
  22. I prefer running when it's cool outside but draw the line at going out when it's below freezing.
  23. the hands will likely have to be modified to fix an ETA movement as well ... unless you have one of the old low beat A7750's. Dial and day/date wheels will be fine from a fit perspective. The 3717-01 and 3717-04 dials are different from what you currently have, as are the hands. You could turn the watch into one of them, but you'd have to replace both. If you like the watch, then either get your existing movement serviced, or get the ETA 7750.
  24. I love the Alion from that region.
  25. Very close IMO ... Personally, I think judging AR (just like anything that's visual in nature) is a bit subjective. Everyone has a different opinion on quality and color. IMO if you have the wherewithal and patience to go with Chief, I would still rate his a little better based on some of the amazing pictures I have seen on the various forums of his work, especially on 3717 crystals. Edit ... I see Ubi beat me to the post ... damn that watch ... it's all his fault for sending me down the path I am on ... Having said that, I have a Taka installed on mine because the timing didn't work to go to Chief at the time I was getting Vac to re-lume the dial and hands. I am quite happy with it and doubt I will change it out at this point. On the wrist: Under a direct spotlight with no filter: I just was offering up a path for you to be able to keep your watches in the rotation while shipping crystals to Chief. Nice thing with Taka's crystal is that it is already done (when he has them in stock), so you don't have to be without your watch in the interim. Assuming you don't harm it while it's installed, you should be able to get most of your money back when you sell it. The other thing you could do, since you are ordering two watches, is to ask the dealer you are getting them from if they can get you an extra crystal. Some dealers will sell parts. You can then do the rotation bit the same way.
