  1. I think there is just been a huge drop in what you can get for a watch...I have a incoming 300t vintage sharkhunter also recently serviced except lum was left nice and original, I picked it up for less than 1,000 (usd). should be here in a few hours..
  2. some day we will all have the same fate and wait to see what the world will do with us...
  3. after seeing the doxa,,,I might have to put on my 600t for the weekend..
  4. From what I know, the only one selling any FF reps is Davidsenjpn. His look nice but thought for sure someone would vintage these or do something with the lum or aging in some way....
  5. looks so much better than my attempt using a darker varnish..Maybe its time to make some coffee...
  6. any thoughts on if I should age the bezel? Maybe age the case a little?
  7. after getting the raven (I did a post with some pics) the crown needed replaced...so I thought of sending it off to the Zigmeister to remove the crown guards and put in a 8mm crown I picked up from the bay for 100 (asking price was 150, but found out here they were going for 95, so got it,,,very nice). The bad news was that the crown was too large to fit in this case, so that didn't work out and Rob put in a smaller but very nice crown. His vintage lum is so nice and mellow, please don't think these pics do it justice. Basically, IMO this works to fill my kingston needs and I haven't had it off for about 3 days which could be a record.
  8. Its hard to get around human judgment, its what we do best…some may put you down for posting on a rep forum while others may think you are too uptight if you don’t. I’m too tired to venture from the truth,,,it is what it is..if someone has an issue that this forum is my favorite place to virtually be,,,that is cool…
  9. panerai153,,good point about the hands...I know others have commmented that they are too fat...the problem is that I actually like them. However, I know they are not very accurate....hard decision.... with the 8mm crown...did you get a tube with it? for 95 that might be a good way to go...thanks!
  10. I'll pop off the bezel and take some pics but it is nice and smooth....it is about 39-40mm so,,perfect size IMO...I think they had two lum options...C1 and C3,,,,I think this is C3 since it is actually pretty bright...but will do a vintage lum so,,,so much for that... Now..where to find an 8mm crown at a decent price...I know where to find one for 150+ (usd) but would like to find something under 100.....
  11. I really like collecting from the small independent watch maker that takes a chance and tries something new (or old in this case),,,so that and four rum and cokes will make this a perfectly objective review of this watch. This goes for about 450 (usd) new and can be found, at least in my case, for about 350 used. However, in my case the screw down crown was almost stripped and needs replace (funny how people forget to mention that in the ad). Two things got my attention about this piece. The way the gilt dial and SS create a nice tension and the very curved plastic crystal. IMO, the crystal is the best part of the watch, the quality is very obvious. I also like the dial but I think the raven symbol could have been just a little larger. The lum is good but I have plans for this and I’m curious what others think. I would like to have the crown guards taken out and an 8mm crown put in. Might cost a little but not as much as a Kingston and IMO would take it up to that quality. I might also have some vintage lum added....??
  12. went too dark on the hands,,but my first vintage in about three years...
  13. how strange it turned into a gilt dial....I think it turned out great...in the case, I bet that bubble stuff doesn't even look noticable. great work....the magic gilt oven..cheaper than gold.
  14. looks like a modern art masterpiece,,,I would leave it as is.......
  15. got it today....oh well...when the seller reported the size at 36mm they were including the crown...so this is basically a women's watch...blahh...
  16. yes,,,it is a little small in the 36mm range...here is the bay number 110647211179
  17. I'll post a few next week but to my knowledge this is the closest gen vintage watch to the original no guard bond sub.
  18. turns out having the flu paid off....I can't sleep so was checking out the bay and have been really into the large crown, no guard subs but wasn't sure what to pick up since I'm broke. This was "buy it now" for 150 usd or make offer, which is a great price, these usually go for 300 or more so didn't waste time with making an offer. I'll post some pics in a week, but this is a great alternative as it is a gen vintage with great patina and a nice large screw down crown. And this one even has the original bracelet which I've never seen.
  19. great,,now I'm going to miss a football game researching LeJour/yema superman...
  20. rotate these three all day....
  21. I am a huge fan of mkii watches....The quality is there but I think they are testing the waters in terms of price,,I'm not sure I would pay anything over 500 for a homage (however, I did pay around 900 for mkii gmt homage). anyway,,,next on my homage list is the raven....gilt dial...just wish it didn't have a crown guard but that can be fixed. The vintage raven is less than 500 (usd). http://www.ravenwatches.com
  22. so nice,,,,thanks for the pics
  23. I noticed the good price on these,,,,VERY NICE.....I'm very much considering picking up one of these,,,I had one a few years ago and like my stingray and vantage sold for some silly reason. I think MKii and precista are some of the best buys out there right now...
  24. I know the hunt is part of the fun,,,but just no time right now. Not necessarly looking for something that will pass as gen but rather high quality all around with convincing vintage lum. thanks!
