  1. I would like to add a a small point to that last comment, many of the people here have expectations that are some times unreasonable in terms of what is practicable, doable and just plain common sense. Some people expect a reply to every PM as soon as it is sent, some people just do not understand what amount of work some times goes into to watch work, I once made a brand new stem for a customer and as I could not really charge by the hour ( and it took me 6 hours of work) I told the customer this and I said pay me what you think that is worth, an his offer was €20 !!! So fitting to the expectations of every one is some times hard, the trick is to only take on the work from people who understand, and choosing those customers is not easy. This post is not in defense of any one or as a criticism of any one it is words of experience!
  2. That is a shame, Reg is top notch and I wish him all the best and hope for a speedy recovery
  3. Personally I love the 89, daily wear for the last 4 months and the cg does not bother me in the slightest, in my mind a stunning rep
  4. For all the new members that may have joined in the last few months, I would just like to reinforce the message here, on no account should you break the rules and post here and on particular no stupid pictures ok?
  5. Yes Lots of tips here try the search function
  6. It will be looked at in a bad light if this is an attempt to sell these parts with out the correct status yes
  7. Yes they do feel cheep, just like the gen!
  8. I would suggest that this is an issue created by badly fitted date or day wheels and the inability of the Chinese to fit the retaining washer that holds the day wheel in place, proper refitting should solve it twinned with a service maybe
  9. What the TD is taking it back even though you have taken it apart?
  10. it is a crying shame that the subdial at 6 is not a 12 hour counter, i mean who the fcuk need a small hour hand that just follows the main one????
  11. very uncommon gran, i was looking at these movements a year or so ago ans it is a nice development, what i would like to know is if the subdial at 6 follows the hour hand or is actualy part of the chrono?
  12. Yesterday I saw an old heuer single button chrono movement that some one had simply opened the back and sprayed WD40 in it and I can report the following :- It does not work The service will be expensive Stupidity costs A watch smith charges a lot for a service because it is a lot if work and saves you money in the long run because if serviced correctly you watch could run for ever, the opposite is also true!
  13. I don't think that limiting the content nude or other wise will change the issue with PayPal, PayPal is dead, what we need to find is a payment option that suits the majority of the members and can be automatically linked with the site. Nudes or not our core subject is less than legal over most of the world What I find surprising is that the other forums are not having the same problems
  14. Correct I have yet to see how the jewels are added and I really would be interested to see it, I assume that the watch is still running ? Did that mod also solve the stuttering of the sub seconds hand?
  15. Well maybe it can be done but the issue is not the movement but the modification
  16. I don't even know it the sec at 12 modulal will fit a Swiss 7750 but even if it did it would not solve the problems as it lays with the sec at 12 modulal and not the movement it's self
  17. The issue here in my oppinion is one that all people who woork openly as modders on a board will get unless they strictly control the work load Having 17 watches waiting for work is way to much! this hapens because we all need work doing and it is hard to turn it down, you get PMs by the thousand, asking for work or advise, and then when you take the work on people want updates, now this is not wrong, you have sent your watch, paid your money and you should be entitled to that update, but we have one example above where the customer says himself he was in touch 2-3 times a day, that all takes time and disturbs you from the work at hand, now if you have 17 jobs waiting for work and every one is in touch 2-3 times a day!!!!!! MD2020 if you want to survive this you have to get all these jobs and people satisfied and then and only then if you take on more work then A set limits of what you have in the queue, B Tell people you will not reply to every PM but provide an update once a week if it is taking longer than expected (and i know it does what with waiting for parts ect) C Do not take on any work that you are not sure that you can do D Chose your customers, There are some people on here that i would not work for in a million years. E do not take on work that you cant afford to mess up, like working on a 1570 that you cant afford to replace any parts that you may break (parts for these are not cheep) I personaly would give this advise to any one thinking they are a modder, or even a qualified watchsmith, the internet and forums may be a great place to get lots of work but one slip up and the world knows about it. So MD, it is down to you now to sort this out, there are no excuses, you enter into a contract with people then honour it, we all know life happens, it happens to us all but we have to honour the contracts we made. To any one who thinks they have to send work MDs way, give him time to sort all the current issues out before you do!
  18. The gen feels cheep and light as well
