  1. sparked this question in my head talking about the new zenith i want - so i'm throwing it out there.
  2. are you sure you didn't accidently post on trc when you ment to post here? thats very odd
  3. i think it would be hard enough to sell a 5000$ watch on ebay with a perfect 6 year record of activity let alone to a forum where i'm new
  4. so - i was drooling over the zenith i posted about when swdivad posted this link to some for sale http://www.collectorstime.com/zenith.htm at 3600 they are very atractivly priced - The one i tried on was selling for 6100 - most on the bay are around 5k i can't spend 3600 on a watch right now - in fact i don't think i can spend 360 on a watch right now - but i had this idea - what if i buy like 4 or 5 of these and sell them on ebay for 4500+ i could make enough $$ to keep one. - Am i nuts? i have an ebay feedback of 100% with 101 unique ratings and 115 total - so i mean, i'm not a total scammer - also - i take really good photos (relatively speaking, i'm no ttk) and usually write up good auction descriptions. Its my experience that he same item can be sold for signifigantly more $$ based upon how you write up the ad. I have never sold anything worth more than a few hundred dollars on ebay. ok- so, i'm i nuts? my wife wanted to kill me when i mentioned this - but said she would back me if i am certain i know what i'm doing. and yes, i can write the check to buy the watches initially. one other thought was to buy 1 - try to sell it on the bay and see how it goes. I'm almost certain i can sell it for the 3600 i would have paid. thanks for your thoughts pho
  5. The ship i was on had this longines in the shop on board and wanted 1800 for the Stainless version. This is a really nice watch - automatic with lots of cool complications. Nice size/ thickness. This rep would have to move way up the list in sub 2000$ gens haven't been able to find it in quick googling for the same price but i'm sure its out there
  6. I really wouldn't care if the watch actually functioned as a chrono whoever uses that anyway nice site though 3500 I might be able to sell my whole rep coollection and buy it
  7. just got back from a caribbean cruise this is where i get to actually go around try on different watches - i have to say that the Kirk Freeport store in Grand Caymen is AMAZING they have a super collection of patek, iwc, zenith, breitling, they even have some VC and panerai so - we all know there are some watches that look great in the photos and blah on the wrist- and some vice versa I got to try on the iwc portugese - and that - made me realize i don't want one at all - compared by breit bently to the real deal and except for the date font- although they didn't have a red faced one -in fact i got comments on it that its very rare - anyone know if there is a gen red face? So - back to the point - i have always loved the new Zenith Chronomaster XXT open face 45 mm but i first got to try it on this last week WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW OMFG this is the most perfect watch ever - its a mix of sport, style eligance luxury, class, its huge - and is just so kick ass looking, if someone could say pick a watch anyone - this would be my top choice if i just could choose one. this is the first gen that i would even consider starting to save money for. I don't want - i NEED this one so - how bout a "new generation" high quality rep of this - the decoration on the movement is really not a big deal - i think this is very do-able you can find them online in the low 5's - so - how bout it guys - one of the dealers want to submit this to a factory? i didn't take thsee photos and they wouldn't let me shoot in the building for security but its very difficult to find photos that do this watch justice - these come close much more from my cruise later this week
  8. ah crap = i was looking for a busted yachtmaster and i bought a crappy working one ast week for a project. dump the yachtmaster - i might still be interested in the parts though
  9. its different - i like different don't know if i'd wear it much though
  10. what the hell is winter air? it doesn't compact as much in the cold? in florida we just have summer - and then something slightly less than summer.
  11. i have about 450 in my pam 47 i'll have close to 600 in my 177h but most of the rest are just retail rep prices The answer to the question is - What is too much to spend on a rep? - IF your wife see's your watch budget and decides to leave you - youve spent to much !!! if your eating mcdonalds for lunch to save for a rep - your spending to much if your putting off that MRI you need to fund reps - your spending to much if your kids are wearing old clothes - your not spending too much - if your kids have no clothes - your spending to much I have lost over 600 in this hobby so far - probably a little more - in watches that didn't live up to advertisment or services that didn't. i'd say i got about 3000+ in my collection of 10 watches -so i average about 300/watch I will spend a few bucks to mod a watch if i think its a perminant keeper in the collection. I'm getting away from servicing watches unless there is something very special - first, i wear a different watch each day so if it gets 48 hrs of usage in 2 weeks its doing well. second, if spent 300 on the watch and service is 150, well, [censored], i'm going to ding it up - its like insurance, the insurance is to high, better off holding the risk yourself and buying a new one if it breaks
  12. I gotta tell you, my wife, is like ok - whatever, on most of my watches especially when she sees them on the computer. But when i got my 111 - she LOVED it, and was like, oh i want one like that. I got her the 50. Which is pictured in my sig. - She has a very very tiny wrist, but loves this watch adn loves to wear it. The only other time that has happened is when i got my gen corum - she then wanted one - also, pics in the sig. But - go for it. - don has a nice selection of xtra short straps that women will like for good prices http://www.homestead.com/rlx/DON6.html
  13. Hmm - i wonder if i can get partial POM by setting up how one can make the perfect popcorn to go along with the movie?
  14. fantastic - and, Grape - 6 weeks is very impressive to get your collection into a state of content. And you appear a quick study as you have gotten yourself some fantastic reps to start off. took me much longer to learn and trial and error fact is, i was about there last fall when i had to cut off my spending of "disposable income" but, some things fell my way this fall and i was able to sell some stuff and put together a collection i am happy with. And it will be perfect as soon as i get my mods done Then, comes Spaceballs the Sequal "the search for more money" Good start - nice work
  15. THanks - its a great combo, i had really been looking forward to seeing this since it was suggested a few days ago. Thanks for sharing
  16. ok - what does it mean that not only the ads don't get attention, but in a thread about ads, 90 percent of the posts are nothing about the ads for me -i buy a ton of stuff on the internet, BUT - i use deal sites like www.spoofee.com i have a nice size amazon thing going - and other sites like shopping.com and froogle.com fact of the matter is the first price you see on the internet is almost never the best. So - click through ads are tuff for the web savvy in my opinion its tuff, you need a combination of something we need at the right time. there are plenty of well off folks here on the board - they probably don't spend the time i do pinching to save pennies - so what do you rich people buy on the spot lets advertise for that stuff oh, and till you guys brought it up, in never saw the ads - i use ad blocking tools with firefox, they don't even come up anymore its great. Well, its great for me
  17. i just ordered another strap from him for my jlc - the rally strap looks cool how does it compare to stiff/softness with like rep pam straps? i think i will go this route when i get my iwc =- sometime, after i win the lottery
  18. I always had good communication. And the work i had done was probably priced appropriatly - but, i did eat almost 400 dollars because of the watches that came in from king were [censored]. I have to believe that he knew the problems before he sent them to me and i was suprised they were serviced and sent. Instead of having the problems corrected then doing the work on the watches. King promised to replace (through him), but i never got anything. chaulked it up to part of the learning process here. and i put the blame on king. But having seen this review - i will not give the benefit of the doubt anymore that he could have missed the serious problem with my day date. - only on 2 days of the week could you see the entire day name - there were varying degrees of coverup for the following days - sold the watch for basicaly the value of the serviced eta movement. I also must say that since i have used The Zigmeister and, he is top notch proffessional - goes way above and beyond to make sure a job is done. I constantly brag about how my 47 was hand painted - i.e. relumed and it never fails to get an oohh and ahhh. this just makes me appreciate one more time the great job he did. thanks zig - i got some more fun stuff coming your way soon
  19. i helped a friend get a gold rolex from king - she sent the mens instead of the women's model - and, well, wouldn't reply to my emails to return or exchange it. although i would have advised against if she asked - she put it on ebay. We paid 200 shipped she got 450 on ebay!!! and, just look at what eddie lee and others get for the pams on ioffer - they are getting a hundred to 200 over what they sell them for here.
  20. TO Hank and Watchlover- Great to have you on board - good job guys. We all recieve SO much from the forum - its great to recognize those that give back
  21. I didn't really have a problem. I was just posting to see if anyone had interest in knowing this person existed. He had a rep that looked cool to me, but he no longer had it. I thought it was interesting that it looks like he is a watch dealer - and appears to have reps for sale - but only in single units that he services? or comes across? i would have totally blown it off, but he has 1700 feedback on ebay. And i emailed him through ebay to make sure it was the same dude. So, its really just for FYI
  22. yeah heard that a few weeks ago - funny
