  1. I was in my Costco (for those outside the US, Costco is a discount retail store/warehouse that sells pretty much anything and everything) the other day and walked by the watch section. Much to my surprise they had a 14k Patek and a 5k Breitling for sale. I wonder what other "watch finds" are out there. Does anyone else know of high end watches being sold by discount outlets? Add pics and info to this thread. It will be interesting to see if this is more common than we think.
  2. Check ebay or gen watch forums. They're pretty inexpensive used. For a couple more $ you can have a gen.
  3. Nice watch. The strap really caught my eye. I've been looking for one just like it for some time. Can you take a couple photos and post? Much appreciated.
  4. I had my dial and hands lumed by Ken Parks. I then had a watchsmith to reassemble the watch, no clearance problems. The minute hand did come loss a year later and had to be reattached. The watchsmith complimented me on the quality of the rep. I think a good watchsmith shouldn't have a problem installing it, but I'm not expert. Best of luck.
  5. Let us know how they fit. I know that the gen. screws won't fit on the rep. tubes by experience. Sourcing gens is virtually impossible, nice find. Thanks.
  6. Great photo. That looks like it was taken with a good digital camera. I was at the Apple store recently and was amazed at how good the camera and screen are on the 4.
  7. Let me get this right you guys took your B&R swimming? The reason I ask is because I have an 03 and the way the crown stem looks and the fact that it doesn't have any visible gaskets has stopped me from swimming with it. Did you modify them in any way? Are the standard rep issue? Great post. Thanks.
  8. I'm with Willith. Find a local watchsmith. There's nothing like having a guy close by to work on your watches. Most "independent" watchsmiths don't care. They're happy for the business. In my case the watchsmith even complimented me on the watch I had serviced, my heavily modded B&R 03.
  9. eddiemonster, That watch has so many flaws I can't believe you bought. I will do you a great favor and take it off your hands. What do you think? Nice of me, huh?
  10. Robbie, You are SO right about Rolex. The most comfortable watch that I wear is my Sea Dweller. I bought it after my Pam, Porsche, and B&R phases faded. It's funny because I've modded the hell out of those watches without doing anything to the Sea Dweller. It just speaks about how perfectly spot on Rolex is. And the out-of-the-box Joshua SD is the only watch I wear in the water. Go figure? Truly a classic. I guess I'm turning into my father. Now if WM9 would finish the SD project he's been working for the past year and a half!!! The wait is killing me.
  11. Chief, I'm on the waitlist for BK's Seadweller. I was thinking that I'd give it a shot and if it doesn't look right, take it off. How hard is it to remove the AR once it's on? Is it something that I can do myself?
  12. Drulee, Are you saying the Firenze is a fantasy version? I thought it was a limited edition that Panerai made. The 089 has been on my "get next" list for a long time. Just haven't pulled the trigger. I've got the 177 and it's starting to look boring to me. I'm looking to spice it up a little. Great pick in my opinion.
  13. I've had a couple of crystals that Chief ARed for me and I'm always amazed at how good they look when I wear these watches. I have a Seadweller and it's in my top 5 to wear. The first thing I always notice when I put it on is the fact that there is no AR. It drives me crazy after wearing my other ARed watches. I'm always impressed with the dial when I look at it when there isn't any reflection off the crystal. I was wondering if anyone has ARed a Rolex crystal. If so, do you have pictures? I'm seriously thinking of trying it even though I know it wouldn't be accurate. Please
  14. A post like this adds to my frustration. How come the manufacturers can get this rep so accurate but there are major flaws with "mainstream" watches that everyone wants? It just doesn't make any sense. Please someone make us an Omega Moonwatch that is just as accurate as this one is to the original. No offense to you By-Tor, your reviews are always very informative.
  15. I'll take the Haribo's if you don't want them. I've never heard of that brand. Care to share more info?
  16. I recently moved to Chicago and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a market or area in town that sells reps? If so, please share. Thanks.
  17. I was considering getting the rep. I think you just pushed me over the edge. That is one fine lookin watch. Wear it well.
  18. Importr, I'm a B&R guy all the way and I'm interested in buying the same model? Can you tell me if the chrono function works? Do both digital displays work seperately? Anything else you want to share? Looking forward to your reply. Thanks.
  19. I've got virtually the same watch and I can tell you it looks even better in person. I was lucky enough to get one of the hard to find Ajoesmith PVD cases. The only difference is my dial is orange. I wore the watch all weekend long and couldn't stop looking at it. For right around $400($178 for the watch from Joshua, $100 lume from Kent, $60 AR from Chief, all prices are ballpark estimates from when I modded my watch) you can have a great high quality rep. I highly recommend to anyone who likes the watch to make the upgrades.
  20. Any idea about how much they cost? I was going to get a strap from gasgasbones but he stopped making straps. I'm in need of a good nylon strap. i have the nylon rep strap and it sucks.
  21. Wow. That is some picture. I've got the 3gS and never even thought of trying to take a close up picture that good. I'll post a pic of my Seadweller if it comes out anywhere near as good. Thanks.
  22. Thanks Subie. I've got a 7.5 wrist and I can wear a B&R 03 just fine. You've sold me on this watch. I'm definitely going to get one. I really appreciate all the pics and your replies.
  23. Thanks for the additional info. What size is your wrist? For some reason it looks like a really large watch. How does it compare to a 44mm Panerai? If you have one that is?
  24. I personnaly think it's damn fine watch. What happens after the subdial hands go past the area where you can see them? Do they come back around? Do the subdials move itself? Please let me know, I'm probably going to buy this watch. Thanks for the pictures. Great buy!!
  25. Nice looking watch. I hope the make a good version out of the box and that I don't have to wait for V4 before they get it right.
