  1. Sawgrass Mall is not bad for watch shopping. They have a jewelry exchange in the oasis section and the dealers are pretty friendly. There is also a very nice watch store at the Hard Rock Casino. The Galleria mall is in Fort lauderdale and is more upscale, but your best bet if you are in miami is to go to Bal Harbor shops. Pretty high end there. Keep in mind none of these places are anywhere near Dadeland mall which is southwest miami if I am not mistaken. I am not familiar with that area. BTW, for anyone interested in the meet, I will buy the first round of drinks and appetizers. If phoband agrees to Cheetah the first dance is on me .......................
  2. Thanks for your help guys. I do think something is fried. I had a few times where the computer overheated and shut itself off. The cooling systems in these things aren't the best. I wish I could "expense it". My company does have an account with dell. Maybe I can talk them into it. Put it on lease or something.
  3. I have a Toshiba Sattelite A-75 a couple years old. The battery doesn't always charge. It got to the point where it wasn't charging at all so I bought a brand new battery. Now it charges sometimes. It will charge 90% of the time when it is off and sometimes when it is running. If it is on ac power while using it after some time it will go to battery power while it is plugged in. I don't believe it is the plug because nothing happens when you jiggle it or unplug it and plug it back in. Also the light indicating that it is plugged in remains lit, but the charge light goes off and battery mode starts spontaneously. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? Can I buy a part and install it myself or do I have to take it in? Should I trash it and buy a new one? Thanks in advance.
  4. I am looking forward to this in gold. Will it be available in full gold or just two tone? Bracelet or just strap?
  5. That is beautiful. So clean I can't even see it.
  6. I think there is more to it than the two choices you made. The first reason is because up until recently the makers relied solely on pictures to replicate watches. It is impossible to get a 1:1 rep this way. Sometimes they take a picture of the front of one model and combine it with the back of another similiar model. I also believe they have just realized recently that there is a growing market for the 1:1 replica. The street or tourist $20 to $50 knock off market is dying out because of crackdowns on conterfeiting worldwide. With the internet sellers can remain somewhat anonymous and cater to a more discerning clientele. Previously, they had no incentive to make reps better because people would buy what was available. I would like to think these boards have somewhat of an influence on the makers increasing quality. Now they can buy a genuine, disect it and sell fewer numbers with a higher markup and make more money with less hassle. The asians are learning the American way. Litigation has nothing to do with it. Gaf is not conscerned with the shape of the crown guards on your sub, but whatever the Rolex logo and trademark is printed on. If you get caught selling an omega seamaster with the Rolex logo printed on the dial it doesn't make you any less prone to litigation, however it is impossible for them to enforce intellectual property laws in asia. Lastly, there are a couple of reasons for minor differences in the same model. Many watch manufactures make minute changes that only us nitpicking anal retentive WIS notice. These sometimes get confused as flaws because the watch is missing this or that, or because the rep maker adds it to all models when it should only be a few. This was proven a few years ago when all Rolex reps came with open 6 and 9 date fonts. Rolex stopped doing this in the early 90's. The next improvements come from customer feedback. The factories want to release a new model as soon as they can to start making money. We get it in our hands and notice the case is .5 mm too small or the logo isn't high enough so they fix that and have another release. Then there is something else wrong so back to the drawing board with more machining and printing. It almost makes sense for them to buy the gen and get it right the first time. This would alleviate a lot of the costs of reengineering IMO.
  7. They do at the one at City Place in Palm Beach. I tried on the gold pam 140 there and fell in love with it. $17,000 with a discount. That store has the most beautiful sales girl I have ever seen in a watch store. She is more knowledgeable about watches than most of the schmucks they usually employ, but alas my love has a rock on her finger bigger than I can afford. We'll always have Panerai............
  8. I have ETA movements over 4 years old and still going strong. Never service any of them.
  9. I visit Mayors regularly. They are in just about every mall in South Florida. Kind of annoying to the g/f though. I always tell her I have to visit my watches. I always have to make up for 15 minutes at the Rolex counter with an hour in Neiman Marcus. Worth every minute though.
  10. I enjoy escape the room games online, and riddles. Anything to get the brain working. Also old movies, Mad Magazines and comic books. I am a bit of a nerd/ collector/ pack rat. Is drinking considered a hobby? That "consumes" a bit of my time as well. I used to call poker a hobby until I started making a living at it. Now it is more of a business. I do play low stakes poker for fun however. When you sit down at the poker table with anything more than $2,000 it can no longer be looked at as recreation IMO.
  11. 12.5"........................ Oh you were talking about wrists, in that case 7.25"
  12. I bought this winder from ebay: Winder This seller has these on auction as well as in the store. I won mine for $100 plus $29 shipping. A super, super deal. The finish is superb and it is quiet as a mouse. REally a huge piece, but they do have a 4 watch winder if you don't need 8. If I didn't know better I woul swear it cost over $1,000.
  13. It seems like the US is concerned with intellectual property that is produced here in the US, and rightly so. I think there wasn't much mention of watches because these are mostly made in Switzerland. Why should we care about their trademarks? Do what you want, but don't mess with the US. The continual hipocracy that is our government.
  14. Actually, I am in Palm beach so not that far south. This is the northernmost county considered South Florida.
  15. I have bought quite a few watches from Paul and have never had a problem. I usually don't ask too many (if any) questions so communication isn't an issue. Shipping has always been fast and the prices are good. I have heard that the quality isn't always consistent however.
  16. You never know where an rwg member may be lurking. This is beginning to sound like a secret society like the free masons..........
  17. I have seen a lot of talk about get togethers recently. I have been around for a number of years now, have a few friends I talk to on the phone, but have never met anyone in person. There has to be some good people around South Florida. I am in the Delray Beach area and would like to shcedule a get together sometime after Jan. 1. I have a great place in mind to meet and the first round of drinks is on me : ). Pm or email me if you are interested and we will see if everyone can decide on a date.
  18. I was lucky enough to "stumble" across rwcc as well when I was browsing all of those $1000 swiss replica sites. I have been around these boards for a while and consider myself pretty well educated. I have only been unlucky twice. Once I bought a datejust on yahoo auctions. I think I won the auction for around $25 plus $10 shipping. They claimed they bought a swiss replica from the web and pictured a very nice watch. When i got it it was a $25.00 bad china fake. I gave it to a friend and he wore it to death. I didn't get hurt too bad (besides my ego). The second time was more recently, and I am a little embarrased to admit it. I love Cartier glasses and own a genuine pair (my second). While surfing ebay about two years ago i came across a seller with Cartier and Fred frames for $89 bucks. Meanwhile my frames retail for $1,700. I thought to myself "they don't make fake cartier frames do they?". Plus they didn't have the wood temples like mine so it is possible to get them at this price fallen off of a truck. So i order not one, not two, but six pair to the tune of almost $600 with shipping. I get them and right away notice the quality is [censored]. I email the seller and paypal. I get a full refund and the seller tells me to keep the glasses. Not really a bad deal, just a little [censored] I fell for it. The frames made nice gifts as well and I still have one pair laying around to remind me of my stupidity. I have been unlucky with a couple of watches that died shortly after buying them, but I estimate owning over 125 replicas since I started frequenting the boards, so that isn't bad. BTW, I still own my first swiss ETA replica which is a SS day date blue MOP dial. To this day this is one of the best deals I have gotten and one of my favorite watches. I bought it for $225 which was a super bargain back then from Q10805 Tommy. He had worn it a few times hence the discount.
  19. Maybe he realises, but who wants the boss putting a damper on the party? Just kidding, I wish I was in an area where I had the chance to hang out with the admin. Maybe a free vip membership after a few drinks eh?
  20. Huh? These people can't even get their lies straight.
  21. The rep makers don't buy their movements from bob frei.
  22. First of all, I would NOT check the bags with watches in them if you want to keep them. Baggage handlers steal property all of the time from passengers bags. I would keep them in your carry on luggage all in a nice box or travel pouch. No one will ever call them out as fake. Especially if you have proof you are relocating. Just be sure not to have a lighter on you. It seemed like security's only concern last time I flew was if I had a lighter in my pocket. This is all assuming you are flying from the US.
  23. I'd buy it in gold or two tone with diamonds.
  24. Cool link to warholize your photos: Warholizer
  25. I busted out some bling today.............. One of my favorites of all time. 3 years old and still looks and runs great!!!
