  1. No, you need a V72- Valjoux 72. 7750 is a different and later movement. Try ebay and search valjoux 72
  2. Perfect! The reg/noob can be your beater and the TC can be for those easy occasions- no sweat type deals.
  3. Yes, Reg sells the noobmariners just like everyone else. There's nothing wrong w/ the regmariner/noobmariner for the price as long as the a21j holds up. But the bezel, insert and crystal are not gen spec. This watch came out in 2007 and was hot then, but has been supplanted by better watches- WM9 V1-3, Euromariner (MBK), TC, and BK's TWB. Good mods for your LV are a smaller crown- gen preferably and probably tube, but maybe the existing tube will take a better crown. Better pearl- watchmaterial and slight trim to the insides of the cgs. Or just wear the watch and enjoy!
  4. Seems like I saw a 16200 DJ w/ 555 endlinks recently and a 16000 w/ 455s. 16000 is a 3035 movement, plastic crystal - T135 16200 is a 3135 movement, sapphire crystal- 295-C1
  5. Looks like a noobmariner- SN is M458117 SELs don't fit too well But for 100 euros, that's par for the course. Not close to a TC, WM9 or BK TWB though in quality and fitment of gen parts.
  6. Your MBW dial looked like a MkII- I look at the L in Rolex- MKI the L is centered under the crown and a MKII is to the left. My gen 1680 is a MKII from late 1978 The cartel date wheel overlay may sit slightly to the left of the date window- some people have had fits with this. It's too bad because it's a better DWO than the MBW one I've seen the L342,xxx SNs also- just a later model since it says Polex 1680 as opposed to the 5513 on the early ones
  7. TC is coming out with V3 in about 30-45 days. Champagne DWOs- Cubic-works.com is the only source I know BK also has DWOs- std 16610 types in white
  8. Well I guess you're in the EU if Domi is going to service the movement. I don't know if he does lume work, but I'd say get the dial and hands relumed, or get a new set of hands w/ good lume (Clarks, maybe) You could get a new bracelet from TC also, or maybe oil/lube up the one you have- it doesn't look bad and I don't know what you expect it to feel like. Rolex bracelets aren't the greatest anyway. You could put a gen insert in there, but the one you have isn't that bad, IMO. But all in all, the watch looks nice. Hope the movement holds up after service.
  9. Yep, the old MBW 1680s had 5513 and an L341,xxx SN. And the red dial is 26.2mm as opposed to the 26.5mm dial for a gen 1680 or a good aftermarket dial. You have the white MBW dial which is considered pretty decent. The old MBW cases were copied from a late model 5513- the 5513 was in production until the late 80's.
  10. Looks like it's on to trimming the cgs and drilling the lugholes- looking good so far. That gen insert is nice- beats that flat MBW pearl!
  11. Too bad you didn't find this place 7 years ago and not just 7 days ago! Running seconds at 6 is a timebomb movement. But if yours is still running, that's good. Might want to leave the chrono pushers alone- no point in tempting fate. This watch is worth $100-200, so you basically got taken when you bought it. But don't feel bad, we've all been there. At least you found this place.
  12. Sometimes I think the original MBW DWO in white isn't too bad- at least it's well centered Here's mine thru a scratched up cyclops on a gen crystal I've got an MBW white dial w/ no dial feet- I need to cut a deal w/ bones!
  13. Nice job! Your photo tutorial is great too- shows all the steps you went thru building the watch.
  14. Thanks mjmj and correctime. I love white dials and this is just a cool 'lowkey' watch. I've got it on a jubilee this week
  15. A 2000 insert would have a SL pearl (or maybe a luminova pearl) Tritium went out in 1998 A tritium pearl can still be white and not glow as much or not at all if it's older. But lots of the older tritium pearls do turn yellow and then light brown. Flat 4 inserts went out late 2002 or 2003
  16. yes, the dial is a re-dial. But it looks better in real life than in the photo.
  17. I missed this over the weekend- I was off fishing! So I guess it's a somewhat even swap- oh well- at least you tried!.
  18. Since the tap size for the 24-600 crown and tube is the 3mm x .35, it would make sense that all of the other 700 series tubes are the same tap size! The 6mm crown and tube dates back to the 50s at least.
  19. I have no idea what the tap size for a 7000 tube is. The 7030 tube takes the 3.0mm x .35 tap.
  20. The 5512/3 came out around 1959 with the 1530 movement or the 1560 for the 5512. Those watches used the 700 crown and tube. The crown didn't have the three dots below the crown emblem. The 702 came out in the late 60s and was the first 'triplock' with two gaskets in the tube and one in the crown. The 703 didn't come out until around 1980 or so. It has 4 gaskets, one in the crown, two in the tube and one outside the tube at the base.
  21. As you say, the end links are smaller and the bracelet could well be also- stick w/ 20mm and you'll be much better off. The older bracelets didn't use screws like the newer ones do so you might have to drill out a rivet and then install a new one- not the kind of job for a novice.
  22. I built my DD with the stainless case for less than an 1803 in YG. Phong modified the 16000 DJ case which wasn't cheap, dial was a lucky find and the movement ran about $1200 serviced. All told, it ran me $2300.
  23. With a WM9 V3, you should be fine for swimming. Since the WM9 copies the gen 16610 submariner construction, it should be able to do better than a simple swim.
