  1. yes, what btocamelo says is true, the radius of the gen datewheel is about 1mm smaller than the radius of the ETA datewheel. I actually have a gen DJ dial and a DW overlay so mine fits. I tried the ETA overlay with the DJ dial and the ETA datewheel is too far to the left by that 1mm I mention. Besides you cannot just use a Rolex datefont even if you could line it up with the ETA datewindow because the Rolex fonts are made widescreen or 16:9, where as the ETA datewindow is more 4:3 ration, so your Rolex datefonts will get cut off on the edges. There's quite a bit of discussion over on the other forum about this as well.
  2. how does Chiefs or Taka's AR compare to the gen crystal. I had a Chief and a Taka AR done on another watch, but wondering if I should get an AR coat or just splurge on a gen crystal. Eventually I'd like to get dial and bezel mod too, but firstly is the dial swap then the crystal mod.
  3. I'd like to see it once you get it if you don't mind posting a pic of it here. I'm in the process of sourcing / creating one myself.
  4. there are a couple of regular Frankenjusters around. Try JMB, KBH, or Alligoat. I have one underway right now. I can actually put it all together, but just haven't yet. I don't like the seconds hand on mine, and am going to try to source another one.
  5. I don't know if I want to chance even $134 on a non-trusted site. I'm not even sure their specs are all that accurate too. But if they are to be trusted and have accurate specs, then they'd be good candidtates for cannabilizing.
  6. Getting a 34mm Rolex rep is gonna be a hard find, as most rep cases are 36mm to fit the vast majority of Rolexes out there. THe AK's and the 1500 series Rolexes and the Oyster Perpetual Dates are the 34mm size, and I don't think I've seen any reps with that case diameter yet.
  7. I believe sneed12 is right. I had to squish them gently with a pair of pliers. But unfortunately I squished them too hard and broke the stem. btw, where do you get 21j seconds hands anyways???
  8. HOw did you pop the insert in the PO??
  9. where did you get your datewheel overlay. I'm looking for one like that.
  10. Let me know if you get tired of your watch...
  11. yeah, I missed out on a OysterPrecision 6426 on TZ from a trusted TZ powerseller. I waited too long and someone else picked it up. I found an OysterPrecision Date later and picked that one up only to find out that it was a mid size (boy's size). I didn't do my research as it was rebound purchase for missing out on the 6426. I will eventually gift that to my daughter when she is old enough. $700 eh? If I saw it, I would have outbid yah.. Glad I didn't see it as I'd hate to outbid a fellow RWG'er. I think I'll play around with frankens for now. I'm wearing one right now and am in the midst of finishing off a old school DJ.
  12. Hey, hey!!! Man, how come I didn't see that one??!!??!?!? I've been looking for vintage Oysters for over a year. Missed out on several by being outbid. Good deal there. Anyways if I did see it, I would have bid on it against you, and that won't be good... wear it well. I'm wearing my franken Oyster Perpetual Date today. Got it yesterday.
  13. what is exactly so bad about wholesaleoutlet990. I've bought many items from them. Even returned something and even got the shipping charges returned too.
  14. yah see what I mean???!!!!??? I tried to "make" some pieces fit only to fubar them. Went out and purchased a replacement and ended fubaring it all on my own, again.....
  15. Nah, stay away from JMB!!!!!! He's the one that got me into building frankens. But, I never have such luck as him. I've got 3 Rollies in parts cuz I get so fed up with all mismatched and not fitting pieces.
  16. Also be prepared to spend lots of money as for the unitiated, there's lots of trial and error. What you definitely think will fit inevitably doesn't fit, so you go and buy something else that might fit, only to find that too doesn't fit. So then you go out and mod the first part only to screw it up and then you're back to square one.
  17. for those with the ultimate super rep, do your hands look dark grey in certain lighting, and almost black in other types of lighting? Is the gen hands like this too. I can't recall from the last time I tried on the gen.
  18. I've ordered from them several times. Not everything is guaranteed to fit as they state. I have a UPO insert on the way. I'll update on the quality once it arrives.
  19. The only thing you can do is get a non cyclops crystal and get Finedd (uwe) to glue on a 2.5x crystal on for you. Mind you the crystal will be acrylic and the cyclops will be glass, but that didn't seem to be an issue when I contacted Uwe. by the way, you'll also want to get a datewheel overlay on that Silix too, as the datefont is butt FUGLY
  20. Nice story, but not very credible for an auction like that for one watch with that type of setting, even if it is a Patek. It's not the Grand Complications, for goodness sake!! But let's not spoil the mood. Nevertheless, has good sentimental value. I have a gen Rolex Oysterdate Precision I already purchased for my daughter, which I will give her upon graduation. I really like the idea of passing down my watches to my kids. These would be all my gens (five so far, and counting).
  21. I agree. the 5th gen is a piece of crap. the only improvement is the non happy feet. even the supposedly corrected pearl looks too sunkent now.
  22. so how many of these do they make in a single run??? I bet all the purchasers were forum members
  23. Nope, you will always have that problem. The gen datewheel will not fit an ETA movement. Just ask JMB or Aligoat.
