  1. Excellent, a satisfactory resolution. Thank-you Chris. As asked throughout your web-site and correspondence I took this up via your preferred actions first; sending emails. I sent multiple emails with pictures and polite requests to no avail before posting here. It’s good to see that the forums got me the only requisite solution. Thanks RWG! Happily today is my day off, so I will organise the package to return. About QC, yes it was an oversight on my behalf not seeing the gas ring text alignment, but to be fair, you disclaim against apparent crookedness in the QC pics, stating viewing angle may make things appear crooked. This was taken into concern when I was viewing them, in fact I stared at that bezel marker for 15 minutes, ultimately deciding it must be the angle as you mentioned, it’s true that because of the assured QC you feel – “no it couldn’t be, must be the angle of the pic”… To the others who are awaiting theirs: Don’t be like me and rush to approve you’re your pics just because you’ve been waiting 5 weeks. I don't know for sure, but perhaps if I had seen the gas ring alignment, I would have gotten a better watch in first place. Thanks everyone for chiming in, I feel I wouldn’t have gotten any satisfactory solution without you! Cheers, Dan.
  2. Hi, I have received this V5. It has the worst quality control of any rep I’ve ever purchased (including the bargain bin $29 specials at Silix). I won’t wear this. The flaws are noticeable at a glance. How does it compare to yours? I’ve asked ETZ to supply the watch as advertised, or to refund the money. Of which they will do neither, claiming they are all like this, that they can’t have it repaired and that it’s the factories fault... They have offered a new bezel and $15 store cred. The reason I have trouble with that is that a new bezel will only fix the woeful painting and poor pearl alignment, and do nothing for the dial and gas ring problems. The real kick in the teeth is that, this was supposed to make amends for an earlier buy from them. I had $45 credit for another dud watch they sent me – A submariner that cost me nearly $200 to fix so it would even tell the time. Your opinions are sought. Would you be happy if you received this from Eurotimez? Of course I have many pics, but this is the one ETZ asked for and sums it up nicely:
  3. Though I've never heard of/seen the brand, I like the OP's. Good sunglasses are worn all year here, so are a must where I live. Mine:
  4. Sweet, another item for the to do list (not like I needed another) for my new years trip. Thanks!
  5. I'd like to know too. Best I can offer is that I'll let you know if I learn anything related while there (Ginza) for a fortnight over new years.
  6. Cool topic. I thought seriously about the Concord C1 for a while. But decided while I think it looks really cool, I'd probably never wear it.
  7. Hi! I've been wondering about the Tambour... what do you think of this rep? Dan.
  8. For black tie events a bow-tie is correct. Though you should really be wearing a dinner suit, or tux if in america (they are very different but both for the same occasion). Worn with anything other attire/suit/occasion they are refferred to as "peado-ties" for good reason.
  9. Well, it's definitely the darkest tint. For my eye the problem is that that it makes the dial look less black, almost like it's very dark brown. It is a great watch though, solidly built and highly accurate to the gen. I think you're making the right choice. Given the chance to do it again (the old, "knowing what I know now...") I'd go with the blue. Here is the post that sold me on it you won't be disappointed with it!
  10. It's a great rep! Mine has the A-7750 28800bph movement. This has the best power reserve of any of my reps. My only gripe is the strong AR colour is a super easy tell. My recommendation would be to buy the blue dialed one if you like it, so the problem won't seem so obvious. Here's mine:
  11. Really really digging this! Though I should line the bezel up for pics to show how close it is...
  12. Actually IME (in my experience) SDDS (Sea Dweller Deep Sea) is how it's referred to in the real world, because that its real name. I've heard this at the AD and the reputable vintage/second hand seller. (Langfords and BVW for the Aussies reading). On topic, after much reading i still haven't worked out what "DSN" stands for...? Oh, and here's a couple "OT" is off-topic and "OP" means original poster (the thread starter).
  13. Now that I have both I can honestly say that Josh's ultimate is way better than he V5. The only thing better about the v5 is the 10 is evenly spaced on bezel. I'll keep wearing the ultimate. The v5 is like a kids toys compared to it.
  14. Yes, we're a day ahead (12hrs actually)^^. When you guys are posting for Thursday its already Friday here Great watches everyone!
  15. This will only leave my wrist for some locktite for the forseeable future... Montbrilliant Legende Black TT, from Josh to Australia in three days flat! Lets see your newest acquisition!
  16. I agree, I post here in the general discussion all the time because, besides brand specific subforums it's the only one with any action/ where you can get a response. I've been a mod over at a very popular forum (421,000 members) for many years and we are RUTHLESS with thread positioning and offtopic. It works. It keep things neat and all thread areas working.
  17. Great watch, and you'll probably find this will appreciate in value. Anecdotally, Gshocks are considered the most accurate and toughest watches in the world. I bought my atomic as a tool to set my other watches by. This is a good one! congrats! If you want to see some gshock candy check out the watchuseek section on them.
  18. I agree, In fact the way they present the QC pics is practically useless. I work with graphics so its possible for me, but for most they can't save for closer inspection or zoom the images. The flash downsamples them regardless so zooming really is ineffective. I'm concerned that my pearl is off centre, but they claim this is part of the QC process so it shouldn't be a problem. I can also see a steel dag on one of my end links, but have OK'd the pics hoping that it can be successlfully filed.
  19. For Wednesday I'm sporting this Gen IND analogue digital. This is another case of hated it at first - now I love it!
  20. I've been enquiring about the Ublack. When I asked for specifics (reliable, well known source) I was told "end of this year". The sinn U1 pvd is the piece I'm most impressed by so far so I can't wait for the Ublack!
  21. Hmmm... I ordered mine on the 26th October and have only just received the pics. Anyway, the HEV looks very different to the one on my ultimate. Can it be depressed or is it locked tight? Great watch BTW, Congrats!
  22. Thanks By-Tor, after much research, was still having trouble with what's decent in the Breitling slide-rule rep world (it's a tough topic for a n00b). Just cashed out for Josh's black dialed TT based on this quote alone. Cheers!
  23. Yeh, its happening here too. Have tried it with IE, FF and chrome from different computers and with firewalls off. The problem is their end.
  24. Based on actual favourite rather than acuracy (or many other possible criteria) I'm going to have to pick th SDDS. This one is Josh's Ultimate: Great thread Wwaren! Good fodder for nubs like me.
  25. Active weekend requires soemthing a little more sturdy... The Orange Monster.
