  1. MBK Patek Nautilus Jumbo- Tested to 150m MBK AP Royal Oak Jumbo- Tested to 150m FrankenSub 16610 (self built)- Tested to 150m These three are the ones I take swimming, etc.; almost on a daily basis this Summer. All 3 have not had any additional work performed to make them water resistant, aside from testing (i.e. they are as they were out of the package, except the Sub, which I put together). The others in my collection are untested and don't see water.
  2. Man, that is one THICK case! Very hefty... Very nice!
  3. I have one for you. drop me a PM with your address and I'll mail it out to you.
  4. Yeah... That was a few years back. He didn't clear out everything... But he did auction a few from his collection. Still from what I understand to be a big Rolex collector...
  5. Been relaxing for the past 4 days, with another 3 to go, George. As I said... No skin off my nose.
  6. laz... The best thing with ladies' DJ's (and men's) is that there are unlimited combinations of dials, cases, bezels, bracelets, etc. so really, anything is possible Movement inside is an ETA 2671... For the past year it has been keeping excellent time. No wrist shots... And I haven't measured her wrist, but I must say that it looks perfect on her wrist. Very feminine and well balanced. I'll try and get a pic of it on her wrist....
  7. I got my wife a custom EL DJ to see how the watch would fit in with her daily lifestyle before getting her a gen... After a little over a year's worth of ownership, the watch has been through quite a lot. I've refinished the case and bracelet a few times already, though in it's current state, one would never know by looking at it On occassion, my wife will also wear some of my watches out of the collection. The following are the ones that look particularly nice on her petite wrist... And, of course, I tried the Panerai approach with her... Got her a PAM51 sometime ago with a variety of straps (I thought she might find the novelty of changing the look with straps to be appealing, but ultimately, she said it was just too big of a watch for her)... We find that reps are a good way to 'try before you buy' with her... She has a knack for really putting a watch through the wringer...
  8. Took it down to bare metal...
  9. Understandably so... It's a fantastic watch; pics only whet the appetite. Having it in your hands, examining every detail, finish and facet brings it all to a whole new level...
  10. Thank you It was a very fun watch to put together... Hope all goes well in your project! Cheers!
  11. Yes... Nail polish remover works well. I had to do this exact same job on one of my projects... Dial with original finish removed: Dial repainted: Best of luck!
  12. If the dial is a sandwich dial, you can split the two dial planes, remove the top coat of paint and repaint it black...
  13. Folks, please... Let's give it a rest. You can only flog a dead horse so much...
  14. vtx... If I may... I think Manuel was simply trying to point you in the right direction... Which it appears you have discovered. Yessir... MBK is where these are typically sourced. That said, there are some members and 'collectors' who either visit Bangkok periodically or live there. Asking one of those members for assistance in procurring one of these may prove to be quite fruitful. Please understand... I myself have chosen not to disclose sources as I believe it may violate forum rules regarding 'collectors' (we don't have dealers here). However, if you look around enough, the answers are all there... Best regards, R
  15. Genuine inserts can be found from time to time. I haven't actively sought one out in quite sometime... But, they're out there As for aging an insert, I've found that a little bleach with H2O and a close, watchful eye can net decent results...
  16. I don't see where I'm browbeating, heckling, or guilting anyone into paying anything. All I'm saying is that if RWG's been good to you, to just consider the notion of helping out. P.S. If you have issues with the way the forum is handled, then why are you here?
  17. Hey gang... I don't think Stephane means any harm... He simply has good intentions for the forum's well being (the financial aspect of running a website, server, colo space, bandwidth, etc. while keeping things safe for all of us is, I'm sure not exactly cheap). I do agree that if the forum has benefitted an individual in some way, shape or form, that he or she should at least consider the idea of making a contribution. Is it mandatory? Of course not... And people are free to do with their money as they see fit. But... I do know that a lot of the financial responsibility falls on admin' shoulders; the least we can do is help him a little along the way. He's been very good to us... He's helped us build a new home after the old RWG fell apart... And, he has done a great job in making sure the ship has stayed afloat thus far. Surely, that is worth giving a little back to a very generous individual who has provided us with this great forum of which our community is built upon. Just my $0.02
  18. Fret not, friends... There is a very simple fix! 1) Go out and buy the genuine Big Bang 2) Remove the movement 3) Swap movement into the rep case 4) Enjoy your new upgraded Swiss frankenstein! See? Easy!! *smaffle* *smaffle*
  19. There's a release button you'll need to press in to release the crown. Follow the stem into the movement and there will be a button corresponding to the stem.
  20. Overall, looks pretty good, though the inside edges can be cleaned up just a touch. Is anyone going to notice in pics? Probably so... But on the wrist? Most likely not I don't feel it's a huge priority... But if you like the details just right, slight shaping on the inside and outside edges will improve the overall look of the watch. BTW... By-tor did a great write up on how to do this mod... P.S. A gen crown will also help in the aesthetics, as the rep crown is too tall, profile wise...
  21. Yup... I consider things like what you've written to be pretty pushy and demanding- the above was what you posted when I didn't answer your request fast enough (roughly 1 day). Nothing above looks very polite at all. But that's okay... No skin off my nose...
  22. Well... The CG's can always be improved...
  23. Not sure I would consider this a replica... It's so much more than a replica!
