  1. My best out-of-the-box reps that I've purchased: My best frankensteins that I've built:
  2. If anyone would know the answer to the question posted in this thread, it's addingwatch. I think he's owned all the generations...
  3. I haven't cracked mine open yet to look... It may very well be that the crown will need to be unthreaded from the stem to pull the movement out. I just don't know... And am reluctant to open mine up until I absolutely need to. However... I know Klingsor has had his open... M- Are you out there?
  4. I've had a couple of experiment cases that I had fun destroying... Mostly to quell curiosity...
  5. No... I think they're somewhat of a grey market source... My comment was just tongue in cheek... I do suspect that the Costco 'issue' is one of the motivating factors for wanting to tighten up distribution... But I think Costco obtains their stock in a different manner than most other grey market dealers/sources do (i.e. not by buying excess inventory off of AD's selling out the back door).
  6. Probably better off letting TAG take care of it during your next scheduled service (or see if you can swing it by your AD for just a polish). If there are any polished-to-brushed transitions or edges that need to remain sharp and crisp, it's better to let someone familiar with refinishing handle this; better yet, let the TAG service folks do it as they should be most familiar with their watches I suggest going this route as rounding out an edge or polishing away a brushed finish (which then creates a new problem- re-creating the brushed grain to match) are easy to do if not careful. Taking metal off is easy... Putting it back... Not so easy. Also, it's hard to gauge severity of the knick/scratch/ding without seeing a pic of the damage. Anyways... If you can live with it for now, that's what I'd do. I know... It's hard to NOT notice the problem as your eye naturally goes straight to the ding since you know it's there. But, believe me... If this is a watch that you hold in high regard (which based on your post, I'm assuming that to be the case) and is one you normally wear, it's going to pick up some evidence of wear anyways, just from wrist time. But... If you feel compelled with giving the polishing a go yourself, you can try giving the case a buff with a Cape Cod. As I said... I don't know how severe the ding/scratch is, so it may or may not remedy the situation. But if you do go this route, try practicing on some old reps that you don't care about first. That said... I'm not familiar with TAG's stance on working on cases not refinished by them, but if they're like some of the other brands, they may tell you you're out of luck if you've tried to DIY the refinish and need them to fix a problem as a result... Best of luck!
  7. Seems as though Omega wants to start exclusively selling from Costco?
  8. You can say that again! x2 here... Always chasing after the little crumb crunchers, making sure they don't get into trouble... Neat concept with the Reborn Doll... It represents a very good cause, and I hope it does well!
  9. Where possible, I just buy a bunch of parts and build my own gen
  10. I thought this forum was just one big support group...
  11. I have one on mine! That is... When it's not on my wrist...
  12. Nice movement, Mr. 913! And overall stunning execution... Looks FANTASTIC! I bet that solid gold case weighs a ton
  13. Indeed... This is a fantastic watch!
  14. Indeed... And we all know that with reps, some flaws and inconsistencies are to be expected. Just part of the game
  15. Thanks, as always, BT! Thank you As for the Daytonas... I've always had to build them... Though you may find someone who has one that's willing to sell...
  16. Thanks, Jeff! No one else has any wrist shots they want to share?
  17. BTW, ZZ... I think you just raised the bar yet again! Your talents never cease to amaze...
