  1. I have been considering this option as well.. as I find the historic buckles too large and bulky for my taste. What's been holding me back is the possibility of scraping up my cherished bands, with the saw blade. As for unwraveling stitching, something I don't want to do... if you cut both sides of the buckle, it would allow a clean removal,.. but again.. how not to damage the leather by the saw blade ??? Any ideas ??
  2. " all i know is that you get what you pay for and i paid for a perfect replica"..... There's one born every minute..... Great Post !
  3. What I use is rubber gloves... the tighter the gloves, the better, Once the gloves are on, hold your watch, back facing you and use your thumbs to apply counter-clockwise direction. Works for me...
  4. ..wobulator... Let's not forget to mention the thingamajig could also be out of whack ...
  5. Great find Ubi ! I also chime in with ByTor in great anticipation for the Chronomat... I'm almost tempted to go for an old used one at this point....
  6. This has become a real problem for me..... When I shake a person's hand, I have caught myself turning a wrist over to check his watch, verses looking them in the eye ..... Not good for business, let me tell you...to grab the left hand, then watch check
  7. I know that,...and my post was not referring to you bro... I was just bringing the question of if our knowledge us mostly used to help or hurt others,... For instance, I have an acquaintance at work that used to buy the down-town alley variety of reps... Then after some tips and buys from me, he uses his newly acquired knowledge to snicker and laugh at those that are wearing the same watches that he used to... forcing me to turn and walk away from him whenever he does this.... How many of us are doing the same ?
  8. As a broker, I spot reps quite a lot where I work, and live... however I see these guys like brothers, and never break their cover to the outside world.. or even let them know, that I know... Nothing more embarrassing.. I do at times, for friends, when asked, guide them to a better class of reps ... So the question is.... Are we, our own worst enemies ?
  9. The circle of life has rotated back towards the sun.... Great News Admin...!
  10. Three places I go daily,... CNN, Sports Illustrated, and Rwg.cc....the last of which I automatically log into whenever I find a free moment,...{which seem to come more & more often } It's paid off big time as well, when I happen to snag that steal of a deal in the trading forum
  11. Bill is top notch in my book !
  12. What I would do would be to put a few grand in an interest gaining college fund for the son, and use the rest to buy a Swiss 212....Replica
  13. I understand fully, Admin, and wish you and yours the best..and say a prayer for your Grandmother.... All the best to you,.. it was great having you as a part of our community, while it lasted... If you change your mind.. we will be here...
  14. Could be,.but I didn't change anything on my end...also was not the only one that noticed the change...
  15. I must admit that I felt like a boat, adrift without a sail or a paddle yesterday... TRC was nice to go to.. but that new post format takes some getting used to.... I hope we don't go in that direction...
  16. Have a Happy BirthDay Bro.... and many, many,.. more !
  17. What a Joke... They must be feeling the fire from our fantastic site....
  18. I think we here, as watch lovers who note and discuss every difference, tend to lose sight of the fact that our eyes are much more highly trained and sensitive than most...
  19. Though it's a much more common case I like the looks of the Mare. Not as much as the Luminor, but much more than the Radiomir, which would be okay if not for those wire lugs..
  20. I personally don't care if a dealer raises his price,.. I see what we get compared to the outside world as a bargain that has room to allow a dealer to figure out ways to protect himself. Better that, than have them pack their bags and leave all of us behind, holding our magnifying glasses and calipers... I think some of us would be less against paying the piper, whatever that price may be, if they would learn to trade their unwanted watches and use the funds for additional purchases. Every system needs a recycling area ...
  21. Thanks for posting this K,.... I'm really glad you decided to stay with us ! We feel the same..
  22. Well I started the opposite,... buying watches just for 'style', and grew weary of that as I would a woman who is pretty, but lacking any skills that benefit the union... Pretty is, as Pretty Does... When I obtain a Chrono,..I use it in so many ways from driving, to exercising to just calculating and improving on many fun aspects of my life.. same with Alarms, and even with Gmts as a compass when I go hiking, or as a secondary time zone when I travel...or my wife is away... Tool watches are so much more interesting ... and build a companionship that go far beyond looks... Style is important,... but clearly Secondary in my book..
  23. The George I dealt with only had a few models .. all mbw.. of which I selected a drsd... the best one of it's kind available...
  24. The one I have is perfect.... no problem at all..
  25. Well,.... I guess so far....'Time' wins... Why didn't I think of that...?
