  1. I used to say, "If a watch does not have a date wheel, then I will not buy it.." Then I got into chronos.. and that took up a large part of my collection...always seeking ones with date however, that is until I saw the 212.. Now I find myself enjoying mechanical alarms,.. which I use to awaken for my pre-dawn drives.. I have changed, but still refuse to buy a watch for style alone.. it must have some complication that is useful... A tool watch of some sort,... Some say Power reserve is the most important.... What is it for you ? & has your opinion changed over time ?
  2. I think i'm leaning towards blue myself.. also on leather... Funny how everyone's opinion starts to creep in on what we originally feel... I guess that's what being part of a community is all about though.. group think. As for the movement, as long as it's the latest 7750 it should be fine...
  3. Yes, unlock the cg... also only wind until you feel slight resistance... otherwise you can break your spring...
  4. Yes, it's great to have Rob back in post mode.... giving valuable advice as ususal..... This subject is especially important for us chrono lovers.... Thanks Rob... now get back to your family... and enjoy your last few weeks,...before the tide gates open again... which from your long absence, will be enough to flood your whole home floor to ceiling with watches....
  5. Now which way to go.... Black or Blue...hmmm,.... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=8832
  6. Has money to spend on bling.... but can't spare five bucks on a partial support of the board that gives everything from where to buy to what, & how,.. to when, fixes, mods.. and just plain good old friendship and support from a great group of people.. I just don't get it ? I'm also confused...
  7. Oops.. Sorry,.. I though it was the Gst you wanted.. well in that case,.. forget the Iwc Aquatimer... it's much to early in the aquatimer season to obtain those... You are correct.. all the 12 ' markers are waaaayy.. off....
  8. Good Newz... Thanks.. I had one purchase from George & he handled it perfectly.. Very Professional & curteous he is.... Top Notch !
  9. If you mean replicas that are well put together,. such as aligned dials, solid stainless steel, ect... The availability of such watches with Perfect QC are highly elusive... It took me three years of much buying.. but I have now 10 almost perfect specimens... Panerai 196, 212, Vulcain Gmt Alarm, Omega SMP 2000, Iwc Gst & Jones, Breitling GT, and JLC alarm, are some of the best that I have owned out of 100 or so.. Accuracy, is an idea, I that I keep my eye on,.. but it's not my main concern... To me, nothing speaks louder than Quality Control in manufacturing, Careful Assembly, and quality of Materials...
  10. I have a few of them... they are of a very high quality,... Though the break-in period is a bit longer than most, the straps are a fantastic find Another German best for sure ...
  11. Feel your pain bro.... also lost my mother to cancer.... It was almost a relief though to see her suffering end and I know she's looking after me now....like your's is for you....as you will find. Take it easy and it's good to have you here !
  12. Another vote for Iwc, have both black & white and they are two of my best.... especially love the bands.... flow over the wrist like liquid.. As for Tag,...I stay away from any watch that sells in Department stores...
  13. Ditto.... I'm with you in every area of your post... I enjoy useful complications on a big face,.. Also agree about the Radiomirs.... Something really effeminate about those models.. with that carved down shape, and cheap looking wire lugs... Especially the pretty pretty Pink Gold models...which imo, are totally out of place in a large rugged watch like Panerai.... When I see those I think of a Sumo Wrestler wearing pink tights and a frilly ballerina skirt... ................... IMO.. .. those that love them... to each his own...
  14. Snobs like that will get it in the end... somehow, one day he may wish he had the business he threw away... Yep, The Zigmeister is the Man.. I wish he would move to California though..
  15. This one came out from the blue... I was never expecting it to be repped, and therefore tried the 063, which I later sold, due to the black hands, which don't appeal to me. I will wait however till our dealers get ahold of it.... Hear that Andrew.. here's my chance to make up for not jumping on your quartz omega bandwagon... Like others here have mentioned,... I also thought my collection was complete... but I guess it never ends... We are going to be roasted until we're ashes.... or our wifes kick us out, with our plastic bag of cheap watches.... Thanks Admin.. also curses to you....
  16. Finally ! Now to wait for the reviews....
  17. Thanks KB... helpful as always....
  18. I guess it depends upon the area... Here in Los Angeles, being a broker,.. I end up in some pretty dangerous areas.. where I set my limit at $2,500, if it's a well known brand...Omega, etc... Not to mention for my clients I want to look successful but not greedy... though I earn over 100k per year... If the brand is not known by the general public,.. then I go to 10 Grand... Anything over 10k, makes me feel a bit over-done.... so I don't own any above that range...
  19. Regardless... FM owns the style now... When anyone sees it,.. they think Frank... I personally never even heard of Cuervo, outside of Tequila,.. Not that I care for FM... I don't .... it was just an observation...
  20. I have yet to experience this .. and keeping my fingers crossed... How about some prevention advice... Is this an un-winding problem ? Or is it' breaking off ?
  21. Just a personal observation... The Cuervo Y Sobrinos - Prominente is a FM legal knock-off... and there is nothing I hate more than style thiefs... A 2824 Fm Replica would better serve the purpose for a heck of a lot less $$... imo
  22. I recently purchased an 'aged' watch from another member and it simply was scratched up and beat to hell, like someone wore a rolex to a construction job..? Contrary to some, I see damage, intentional or not as unsightly, blemishes, and define character, as the willingness to take care, and correct damage. Same as for automobiles.... do you see a dented, faded paint car, as one with character, or a restored classic ? Many people, take great care of their prized watches, and do have them re-fitted and restored when they age...so I wear my new looking watches with pride..
  23. Sooner or later these kinds of incidents are going to drive our community underground where only subscription memberships further protected by waiver agreements never to harm our dealers...and a course on how to go about things, with them, and each other. In the mean time however I think we should post a list of do's and dont's, ending with a rwg.cc code that a buyer must mention before a seller will do business with them... Shopping carts can also adjusted to request such a code. That way there will be no more excuses of ignorance....
  24. Great to have you here Overboosted... I have always enjoyed your posts.. and sales.. I have a similar experience with closing to over 100 watches so far..but having boiled down my collection to my personal best, top ten.. and now am taking a break until something really outstanding wanders into our orbit... Are you also getting to a point of an eclipse in your buying ? Has your experience showed you exactly your personal style in watches ? Mine has.. and what a valuable experience it has been.... If I ever do become a zillion-aire... I will know exactly what to purchase without the slightest bit of buyers remorse...
  25. Yes, however the piece with the two rods can be stubborn and for me required a push with the toothpicks from the other end, once the screws were removed, before I was able to release it.
